The Immortal Soul Man Otis Redding! No mater how hard others try to imitate The Big O it can't be done ! The Man was a genius! His showmanship skills, musical talent and especially his voice full of soul will never be matched! RIP Big O!
I got to see him in Birmingham Alabama in the summer of 1967. He played at the Municipal Auditorium and that concert changed my life. I still get emotional when I hear his songs.
Makes me cry watching this knowing he was taken from the world less than a day later😪This great beautiful man (along with sam Cooke) is one of the most emotive passionate raw singers to ever grace this planet...I feel deeply sad his life was cut so short but man oh man what a legacy he left we can only imagine how much more he had to give but I feel so privileged to truly understand what it means to sing with "soul" thanks to Otis and Sam..your music will live on forever thank you for the music ❤️❤️❤️❤️
A lot of great musicians from that era went out that way, members of Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Jim Croce come to mind when I think about it 💔 It really is heartbreaking cause so many musicians and singers from back then seemed so authentic, like real people who just happen to be famous, and their music had more soul to it.
@@bobloblawlablabla Definitely I always say I was born far too late I wish I had been around in the 60s 70s today as far as I'm concerned there is no such thing as real music..there will never be another Otis or Elvis etc really sad actually
@@lucindamiao722 I always used to say the same thing too haha 😂 I've preferred music from late 60's, early 70's, to way back into classical. There are only a few modern bands or songs that give me the same feelings as the old school. I don't think we'll get another era like the 60's/70's, where so many talented musicians influenced so many genres of music, but count your blessings that you have the ear to listen to and appreciate music like this 😌

I’m very curious of the honorable mentions. I love Otis, but I love Marvin Gaye and Sam Cooke as far as singers, but Otis has got vibes that are just infectious.
Oh my God I can’t believe this was the last appeared of this great young king may he singing in heaven with the angels he sounds he good live he always give his all so much soul love no one can sing his songs not like the Big O ❤❤❤
This poignant performance sends thrills and every other emotion through your soul. How much wonderment and brilliance has the world lost from performers like Otis who left us far too soon 😢
The bassist on the left took a different flight that night and had to ID his friends. Guy on the trumpet 🎺 was the only survivor of the crash that took this amazing group of talent from us. RIP.
The bassist is James Alexander he is Hip Hop and R&B producer Jazze Pha's father. Jazze Pha (Phalon Alexander) was named after Phalon Jones the Bar-Kays saxophonist in this video who died along with Otis who was James Alexander's good friend. ✌🏽
One of a kind, a voice for the ages which we haven't heard since his untimely passing. Raw, spontaneous, amazing energy, unbridled emotion & the true meaning of soul. You cannot confuse that voice w/any other artist in 55 years, must be the real deal.
Some people God holds his hands on a little bit longer…what an absolutely unbelievable voice and talent. Thank the Lord we have his music. Gone far to soon
Ain't no God...what the violent, tragic and sad death of him and members of the Barkays were a part of your God's plan? Same for starving and sexually assaulted children in this world.
i used to listen to his music when i was like 8 years old and i've realized how graceful and authentic he was with his love songs and music in general. amazed by him!
This isn't my phone but i have to comment. I'm a 53 year old white guy but my mom was ahead of her time with being cool. I remember Otis, Aretha, Al and Etta coming out of those old RCA speakers and filling our house with good times, heart breaks and special things i can never get back like my mom
James Brown warned him because of the bad weather, but Otis was too loyal to his fans in Wisconsin. That loyalty sadly resulted in his tragic death in a plane crash. James told him "That plane is not big enough to be doing what you’re doing. It can’t carry all those people and all that equipment. You shouldn’t be messing around with it like that." Otis said "Aw, it’s all right Bossman. We’ve had a few problems, but it’s doing okay." James later went on to say in his memoirs that "Somebody was fooling Otis… That plane was an old plane, with a bad battery and a lot of service problems, and it had no business flying in that kind of weather."
I can't believe this is his last performance footage. Look at the dude in your screen. Does he look like someone who's ready to die? He was dead about 40yrs before I was even born but I'm so grateful for this time where we have UA-cam and we can come back to this page and see this absolute legend singing about my life
Woke up in the morning and i open my youtube and randomly got into this video. God, what a blessing 🙏🏾
Me too. He made me tear up. What a voice. RIP brother.
take a second to remember he was only 2 months removed from his 27th birthday during this performance.

His voice is soooooo matured, well beyond his years!!!

The greatest soul singer easily.
Top 5 for me easy. Maybe even 3.

He's an amazing talent with a incredible voice. He does look older than 26 though rest in peace Otis.
Hate that I was born in 1995. 90% of the artists I’d pay to see in concert have passed away.
I feel the same way and I'm a 2001 kid. I was lucky enough to see Eric Clapton live last year at least.
I was born 20 years too late unfortunatly :( What a performer he was, RIP Otis, my dude.

I love that soul rasp to his voice. Nobody could engr sing that song any better.

I was in the Boulder County (Colorado) jail with Otis’s cousin, Lester Redding, in 1972. He was a good guy.
Why was he in jail? What happened?
Really? What did he do to land himself in jail? Glad to hear was a good guy at least.

Como me fascina Otis su voz su música y el mismo es tan sexy ❤️
Sam Cooke passed in Dec 64, then Otis in Dec. 67.
