Absolutamente fabuloso ! 🎼❤️
God, he was the absolute best. Tragic what happened to him and his bandmates. Incredible performer. What a voice! I read that Rod Stewart had said seeing Otis Redding perform live brought tears to his eyes. He was that great.
This was actually his penultimate performance. They filmed this television segment in the early afternoon and then did a gig later that night. The plane accident was the next day. Rick Nielson, the guitarist from Cheap Trick, was in a band at the time (coincidentally named The Grim Reapers) that was slated to open up for Otis the night of the accident.
From what I knew about the plane crash, Ben Cauley the drummer in the band, was the only survivor of the plane crash that killed Otis Redding. He was interviewed on the TV show Inside Edition and talked about the crash many years ago. After the plane crashed Ben said he heard some band members screaming for help while they were in the water He was rescued while the other band members drowned. The body of Otis Redding was recovered a few days later.
A day later all these men died except for the bassist who took a commercial flight because the small plane did not have room for him, and the trumpet player survived the crash. The piano player survived the crash as well, but since none of them could swim, he eventually succumbed to the cold water and drown. The trumpet player survived by clinging to some floating wreckage until help arrived (which arrived quickly) That bassist had his own Waylon Jennings moment. (Waylon Jennings gave up his seat in Buddy Holly's plane to another man...which is why he survived.)
The Immortal Soul Man Otis Redding! No mater how hard others try to imitate The Big O it can't be done ! The Man was a genius! His showmanship skills, musical talent and especially his voice full of soul will never be matched! RIP Big O!
DURING THAT TIME I DON'T WANT TO BE A DEBBIE DOWNER, BUT THE BAND LOSE THEIRS LIVES ALSO, OTIS GONE TO SOON, I WON'T BE SURPRISED IF THE POWER'S THAT BE WHOEVER, TOOK HIM OUT DID SOMETHING TO THE PLANE, THEY TOOK SAM COOKE, JACKIE WILSON, I BELIEVE IT TO THIS DAY, THREE HANDSOME TALENTED BLACK MEN, GONE IN THEIR THIRTY'S OR FOURTHYS , JUST MY OPINION, CIVIL RIGHTS WAS REAL HOT AT THAT TIME. THESE MEN WANTED THEIR MONEY DUE THEM THEIR RIGHTS TO THEIR SONGS CATEGORY OF THEIR MUSIC, ONE WAS IN COURT AND ONE TRYING TO START HIS OWN RECORD COMPANY, HOW DARE THEY AT THAT TIME, REST IN PEACE MY BEAUTIFUL KINGS YOU WEAR THE 👑👑👑👑👑 CROWN,
The trumpet player and the piano player survived the crash but could not swim. The trumpet player managed to find some floating wreckage and held on until he was saved, but the piano player drowned before he could be rescued. The bass player took a different plane so he lived as well.
I can't believe this is his last performance footage. Look at the dude in your screen. Does he look like someone who's ready to die? He was dead about 40yrs before I was even born but I'm so grateful for this time where we have UA-cam and we can come back to this page and see this absolute legend singing about my life
I dont understand the obsession of young musicians wanting to fly in small planes. Otis Redding, Buddy Holly and his 2 friends, Patsy Cline, John Denver, and i am sure i am forgetting several.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was another, but his was a helicopter crash. Most of the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd died in a plane crash as well along with Jim Croce and Jim Reeves.

His voice is soooooo matured, well beyond his years!!!
Le grand otis❤❤❤❤
Heartbreaking, knowing what was coming.
What’s the name of this song?
The first one is Try A Little Tenderness and the last one is Respect. You're welcome.
It's a damn shame!!!@# GOD only knows what otis would have done!! And he had no idea of the fate of stax records
The Bar Kay’s were a young group of teenagers that just graduated from high school just starting their lives. I’m watching there story now Unsung
When the record sounds as good as the live performance that’s the shit

Hate that I was born in 1995. 90% of the artists I’d pay to see in concert have passed away.
I feel the same way and I'm a 2001 kid. I was lucky enough to see Eric Clapton live last year at least.
Patrimônio da humanidade

id trade a whole lot for otis back
We are all mortal, This makes me cry everytime.
That's Jazze Pha's father James Alexander on bass the backbone of the Bar-Kays before and after the tragedy.
24 year old soul sings like he has lived loved and has been so deeply 1000s of life times✨ GOD ✨
I can't believe he was only 26. He had the voice maturity of a 40 year old.
AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGG

When music was real to the bone. What a beautiful voice. ❤
Why, oh, why, so young, at 26?
FANTASTIC!
if its otis little richard elvis or chuck berry the stedio recording nothing like live to days artis cant touch these guys
That drummer was like a human metronome.
Such a awesome entertainer.R.I.P to Otis and most of the Bar-Kays
This man’s voice and energy is exceptional!
This is so sad
Gone way too soon, I can't help but think how much more music he would have created.
No one did it better than Mr. Redding rest peacefully, King and I thank you for sharing your gift of soul. ✊🏾
Wish I could say I was there. R.I.P. Sir
