I can't get over how beautiful the chord progression in this song is.
Without a doubt one of my favourite tracks on the album.
Right? Everytime I hear it I get this overwhelming frisson through my body, and a strong urge to cry
I expect nothing less. Patience makes perfection, I think I'm her age.
Yes!
I feel exactly that way about every one of her songs.
I like how this song is so cutting and yet hilarious at the same time, only Fiona can make that work. "Check out that rack of his, look at that row of guitar necks, lined up like eager fillies, outstretched like the legs of Rockettes" being followed with "I thought you would wail on me, like you wail on them" was just so freaking genius and her cutesy "But it was just a choochie-coo-coups" is gold.
That's my favourite part of the song. I love the way she sings those lines with a playful sultry tone.
@@TheDreamingJune yes girl
heavy
srry as a non native speaker i got no idea whats she referring to xd
@@starosta975 I fell u -even tho I know quite well the language lmao.
This album will be a classic. Amazing song after another.
really?
@@colnago8376 Yeah, really.
Woman, I wish you could see how sparkly my kitchen is looking thanks to you. This is my official deep cleaning quarantine soundtrack. Not just my house but my soul.
I thought I might be the only person who loves to clean listening to her, so nice it makes it something enjoyable
alright, this comment has inspired me, i'm gonna try it. haven't heard the album yet. i live in a tinyhome so when it's messy it's like living in an ocean of debris 🙄
The fact that Fiona was able to reach out and helped Rei too.
@@toniqa3 i can only imagine Shinji dedicating "I want you to love me" to Kaworu. XD
These aren't kitchen songs
This whole album is probably the most beautiful thing ive listened to in a while. I love it so much
fiona this song changed my life. i was in a long term relationship but i could feel us getting more and more distant with each other. i found this song and i listened on repeat, and one day i did fully finally understand it. i realized how much i related to this song, and how i was being treated. i realized i wasn’t being given what i deserve, and that my ex partner was giving me very little to work with. i’m still on the road of recovery, but my eyes have been opened again
fetch the bolt cutters
Same here. The "I gave you pictures and cards on non-holidays, and it wasn't because I was bored" line struck a nerve with me.
Gifts are my love language, quality time was supposedly his, but I was constantly dismissed, ignored, and taken for granted.
Later, when she says, "I've been used so many times"... Yeah, I had to end things.
Her voice in this is something fierce.
The album is definitely a bloomer but it's being lauded more so because the song structures are new and complete with brand new sounds that you've never experienced before and the album's focused use of handmade environmental percussion makes it an album full of hidden gems of sound. Close your eyes and start with RACK OF HIS
This ones my fav on the album
Who’s here at 2:20 am in lockdown but can’t sleep and now feels like writing poetic masterpieces to this album?
WHOA!!! I'm commenting nearly 24 hours later, LOL!!!! At exactly 2:22 am Sunday morning....only great music like this can create that magic!
1:54 am Lima Time
Me, at 04:22
Story of my 2020 it woould seem
It's 7:54 but I didn't even go to bed and I didn't go to bed the night before either kinda way...
This song locks me in a trance with the instrumentals. I didn't care for it at first and thought it was odd. It's now my favorite and the best track off the album, if you ask me.
This is definitely the best song on the album
Those of us that know, legends. This is one of the best lyricist of all time! I try not to cry every time! Go back to her first album, it’s brilliant!!
The instrumentals are insane, stuck in my head till this day
i'd wish i was as good af as fiona is at composing and producing
Fionna came to my life in a precise moment, "ladies" and this song, both did my duel process easier, after a painful breakup. Since the first time I heard this songs I started to feel better. I can't explain how grateful I'm now. 🍎💛
Fiona has such lacerating and funny and incendiary lyrics. she also emphasizes and de emphasizes specific words giving value and or stripping them of meaning
Listening to her new songs, and I'm like damn, she still got that power! What a nice surprise to have her new music during a difficult time in the world. THANKS FIONA APPLE.
I bought this CD for my better half. This record is incredible.
This song is killer
She is an ever flowing well.
This whole album is a lot of my real and imagined life until today. Much love ❤️❤️❤️
Ahhh her voice combined with the lyrics yeah. That's eargasm luv
Is there a more beautiful thing than growing up with Fiona Apple?
I am only a couple years younger than Fiona and each album has came into my life just when I was searching for something special.
Seeing her live at the Wellmont 20 years after she voiced the soundtrack to my teen years
The louder you play this album you can hear more in the back ground so much going on ! Wow 😮
The whole atmosphere of Fiona Apple feels like a cross between JD Salinger and Judy Blume to me. That is NOT a criticism; that is the highest praise I can imagine.
I would add a bit of tom robbins and simone de beauvoir
When she lived in New York her first two albums were very 'female Holden Caulfield'.
I preferred that version of her.
@@thesecondUA-cam Funny, I feel just the opposite. I think she's only gotten better with time--her oeuvre is growing fuller, more realized, more daring, and more sophisticated.
this song is everything
"I've been used so many times, I've learned to use myself in kind" 😔😥🍎🎶🎵😅🥰
god this song is just... incredible. the opening is so sad and pretty that it hurts me
Holy hell. This album should theoretically raise the bar for music, writing, etc. Sadly it's not autotuned pop crap so it'll creep by most people without notice.
This is the Fiona Apple I expected but much better. Such progress !!! I rank it up there with her best works !!
Finally, a new music album to die for. I thought everything had been already said and done but, man, what a sound! Both Fiona and the producer are fckn SMART! Ah, the hope...
This is pure poetry. This, Nick Caves Ghosteen, and Gaga's Chromatica are the best, most artful, original, passionate, unique, and honest collections of musical art to be found this high up on the totem poll of fame. You normally find this kind of soliloquy/cacophany/symphony in the very raw and very talented who have had some life -with all the giggles, sobs, dead lovers, fatal humiliations, fleeting moments of absolute truth, carnality, joy for another person whom you seriosly dislike, gratitude, revenge (the good part), revenge (the other 90% that masticates your insides like rabid tapeworms taking bong hits), love, when its not and thats ok-- maybe even better, when someone who is a friend but not one you would call your ride or die shows up in the knick of time to ride, when your ride or die doesnt, when your dog dies, moments when something so extraordinarily beautiful catches yout eye from across the street and it turns out to be roadkill or trash and somehow your entire idea of beauty becomes different, better, more inclusive-- even tobdead armadillos, when your parents suck but that bitch at school thats always riding your ass turns out to be fucking hero, and most of all the oceans of grey areas that make this world bearable-- pea soup fogs of grey areas that let the titanic, jack the ripper, and amelia Earhart disappear in front of your face and challenge the world to be curious, generous of spirit, brave, honest but mot to the point of unnecessarily hurtful, and creative. But thats wh6 these albums are so lovely--- these artists have been around long enough and lived enough grey areas, all while pouring the gut shots and orgasms, moments of clarity, and love into the development of their craft. Thank you Fiona Apple for this!!!

MY QUEEN IS HOME
One of my favorite instrumentals in the entire record
aesthetic is imagining you in a 1940's bar with fiona singing the full album
definitely, kinda like Tom Waits in his prime. This is Fiona channeling her inner Waits.
@soundwaveaddict yes
Is this her drumming? It’s so good, shes really so amazing. Long live fiona!
On this track FA and Amy Wood each do some of the drumming. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fetch_the_Bolt_Cutters#Personnel
It feels like Fiona let us know what happens inside her head, I love those weird sounds 🤩🤩🤩
I had the criminal album growing up. This is the first time I've looked to see how your music evolved. Different. Still listening..
I just heard about 4 songs from this new album and shes still awesome as hell!!!! My kid and hubby keep asking me to come in off the porch but im like i fed you cleaned my time for a half hour 45 mins smh love them! Lol✌✌✌
Officially in love with this album ... I’ve played Rack of his many times already 👍🏻💕❤️😘🤗🤗
[Lyrics]
I gave you pictures and cards on non-holidays
And it wasn't because I was bored
I followed you from room to room with no attention
And it wasn't because I was bored
It was because I was loving you so much
It's the only reason I gave my time to you
And that's it, there's a kick and you've given up
'Cause you know you won't like it when there's nothing to do
Check out that rack of his! Look at that row of guitar necks
Lined up like eager fillies, outstretched like legs of Rockettes
They don't know what they are in for and they don't care but I do
I thought you would wail on me like you wail on them but it was just a coochie-coo-coup!
And meanwhile I'm loving you so much
It's the only reason I gave my time to you
And that's it, there's a kick and you've given up
'Cause you know you won't like it when there's nothing to do
Meanwhile I'm loving you so much
That's the only reason that I gave my time to you
And that's it, there's a kick and you've given up
'Cause you know you don't like it when there's nothing to do
And I've been used so many times
I've learned to use myself in kind
I try to drum, I try to write
I can't do either well but
Oh well that's fine, I guess
'Cause I know how to spend my time
(I know how to spend my time)
(I know how to spend my time)
(I know how to spend my time)
(And meanwhile I'm loving you so much)
(And meanwhile I'm loving you so much)
(And meanwhile I'm loving you so much)
*coochie-coo-coup..and thank you!
A. Willians I love you people who do this for the rest of us. ❤️
What they said... x
I miss the piano, something is dead without her bass tones.. I love her experiments with percussion, of course, but the best percurssive instrument is piano
I do miss the piano as well so i have to agree but i like the upright bass on this, it reminds me of Extraordinary Machine. So i like it for that.
Me encanta esta canción .... No puedo explicar lo que me transmite cada que la escucho, esperaba tu regreso con ansias fiona.
current fave.. so good.
Very cabaret. Looking for to "Fetch the Bolt Cutters - the Musical!"
Your timing is prescient, Fiona. Thank you for sharing!

FIONA YOU'RE THE BIGGEST ARTIST IN HISTORY
@Juan Carlos I think it is the mets.

I'm in love...
I have to keep ;listing to this so good!
I'm still chocked that his album dropped
OMGGG😭 I’m so happy that you are back after. Ilysm 💖💖💖
My only wish in life is to see you live Fiona❤️❤️
Molly Roberts it was my dream come true when she finally came to the west coast. I followed her and saw three shows ❤️
I was fortunate enough to see her back in 2006 in West Palm Beach
I saw her in NYC and these three drunk lesbians were heckling her, it was ridiculous. Idk how you can like women and not worship her
If Pitchfork doesn't give this a Best New Music tag, I'll riot!
they gave it a 10 lol
Pitchfork doesn't matter.
LOL you got your wish
They gave it a fucking 10 and this masterpiece absolutely deserves it
First 10 since MBDTF.

The best album of 2020
The best album of the last 25 years at least...
💯
so goooood
Even her voice breaks like Lennon's did. This is amazing stuff, this album.
This song right here has been my life for the past three years.

Great song
Back to her sarcastic best ;)
Genius
Wow me encanta tu voz 💙
uma das minhas preferidas desse album. linda demais!
best song of the album
Im not crazy about this album but there are some gems like Cosmonauts, Drumset and Under the Table, but this definitely sounds like an Extraordinary Machine track which I LOVE. Might be my favorite track, its very whimsical and fits in with that album which is my favorite of hers. I think it reminds me of Tymps/Used to love him.
It was because I was loving you so muuUUUUuuuUUUUchh!
Ever wonder what Fiona would've been like as a drummer?
I can picture this being used in a future Peaky Blinders episode, for sure.
I was trying to figure out what the background was reminding me of...babooshka by kate bush, right?
Spot on!
NICE
