The great thing about Bruce. He is successful and wealthy but has a very focused "small" collection. Not 50k pieces of just common stuff, or duplicates that are stored away in closets, storage units and sheds like many collectors today. But 7000 unique pieces he carefully collected over the years, which are beautifully displayed...
@@fast97z24 Of course he became recognized for the beach bomb. so what? But he still has a very specific collection and buys a lot of newer stuff mostly to give away. He has a very modestly sized collection for the space and money that he has. Not an over abundance of modern over produced stuff coming out of every corner ... 😂
@@fast97z24 Not saying new diecast is not nice. But they are overproduced and people like you have collections that have zero direction and are completely based on quantity.... 😂
So cool. I like the fact that Bruce actually has fun with his collection and invites others to join in the fun. Some history--'My mom bought me a blue hot wheels cougar in 1968. It saw many sandboxes for a few years. I still have it today.
I was six when Hot Wheels came out. There are full size car colours today that mimic some of the original Hot Wheels colours, that when I see them, they give me such a strong jolt of nostalgia it’s unbelievable!
Sold Bruce a collection a few months back he's a wealth of knowledge. Best part is he is a genuine good person. What you saw in the interview is exactly how Bruce is. He's a historian when it comes to Hot Wheels.
A number of years ago when ebay was young I decided to look up toys I had as a kid. I looked up hot wheels and some auctions for a salesmans sample case break came up and I bid on one, didnt win. Next night I bid on another, didnt win. Last night of auction bid on 2, won both. That led me on a 6-7 year buying spree and have a collection thats been sitting in my closet of about 100 for 10 years. Best one I got was an ice blue firebird with doorlines.
Envious. When my mom asked me if I would let my very young nephew play with my then collection of 70+ HW while I was in the USAF, like a dumbass, I said yes. Not a one survived, including the Boss Hoss Silver Special you got for joining the Hot Wheels Club, the Jack Rabbit Special I got from Jack In The Box, and my Sizzlers😒
When I went into the Military I stored my collection in a climate controlled storage unit! No way in hell I was leaving my valuables to my destructive cousins.
A) Nothing like a good hobby B) He has a bit more space than I C) Love my HW's but they have "Boulevard" and "Car Culture" for like $6... Mattel knows adult collectors have adult $$$. Been collecting since late 80's...Love it!
I love HW and Matchbox, and while i collect them, i collect only models i truly love. 99% of those are real cars but remaining 1% are fantasy castings. I also collect models from other companies like ERA, Mini GT, Tomica and few mores, but i collect it because i like it. These days however there is to many fake collectors, people that buy as much as possible and re-sell them for higher pricers, there is even some youtubers (but thats to big and complicated story). Short point is, if you love something, do it. Collect it. If you are solo and you do not have kids, one day you will give your collection to the person you believe it deserve it. Sometimes its better tthat then to your own kids who do not respect and would just sell it away. It is nice to have hobby.
Man finds out that other local man hordes and scalps all the local stores inventory, and now a man with 20 of everything that was released since covid started now has the most expensive collection.
Wrong, inflation did impact the price of Hot Wheels. For the last few years I've been building my son's Hot Wheel collection. They have been $1 each for years. In the last 6 months they jumped up to $1.25 a pop. If that's not inflation I don't know what is. A 25% increase is huge
Before Hot Wheels in the 1960s it was Matchbox and Corgi and Dinky from England. Once I flipped them over and it was made in Hong Kong or China I kinda lost interest. But good on him! He has some of what we did back in the day.

I love how passionate he is about his collection
Amazing collection, very happy to see a story highlighting Hot Wheels like this.

Been collection Hot wheels since 1969 i still got my original redlines since kid👍

It's a hobby worth having. Hopefully I can have a place where I can collect hotwheels+ Lego collection.
2 of my favorite things when I was a kid was collecting Hot Wheels and Pogs with slammers. 🙂
I remember pigs and slammers, dang that brings me back lol.

OMG, NO!!! Think what that would be worth today.
When I went into the Military I stored my collection in a climate controlled storage unit! No way in hell I was leaving my valuables to my destructive cousins.
Awesome! I have about 25 myself. I just started collecting.

Awesome guy!!! Does what he loves, loves what he does.
I grew up with hot wheels & green Army men! Man if I had only saved them.

Very cool collection. And even cooler for the kids
I’ve got a manufacturer defect Muscle Machine that has started my collecting. They can go for a lot depending on what it is.
I collect certain ones. Like the cars from the hotwheels movies or the Deora 2
I been collecting diecast vehicles since I was 3 years old. That's almost 24 years ago and I'm still collect new ones for my own UA-cam channel.
He is one of the reason I know hw and my son is the reason I start collecting it. Wish I can visit his place one day. ❤

Funny thing although i come from Germany i never knew they were called "Heiße Räder" here! It is the exact translation of Hot Wheels btw.
3:01 “and any kid who leaves” do some not leave ?
Inflation got to Hot Wheels this year! They are close to $2 dollars now
$1.19 at walmart in my city
They are still $1.19 at Walmart here in WV. 🤷♂🤷♂
My dream car collection
Beautiful
My grandson is going to be next big collector. 💓💞💓
Wow ! Impressive !
So cool i have a 310 colection and i love HW sooo much ❤❤❤❤❤

Well, Hot Wheels will be 55 years old tomorrow.
Also I think he is crazy, but I say it smilling and with a sigh.

It’s not worth 1.5 million unless someone will pay that much. And believe me no one is paying that much in a recession or ever.
I have 1890 toy car
I have some of those cars
I would argue inflation has hit Hot Wheels. All my cars from 20+ years ago seem to have better quality than the modern ones.
Collection I would like to sell in my collection I have about $20,000 worth of collections
🔥🛞👍
In the most civil way possible. That is a huge waste of money. Also not news worthy. Sad to see us even talking about such trivial things.
Collecting garbage
I have a little more than 3000. A good inexpensive hobby.
This is news? Sad
Sad to you but happiness for many others. That pink beach bus car goes for $175k+.
