So I’ve been considering trying the tekara style fly fishing cause I don’t want to do the typical fly fishing but I need a good cast in where I’m fishing so this style will work perfectly down at otter creek here in Southern Utah.

That lake produces! Just need to tighten the line with a slight pull once bubble submerges. No need to swing for the fence. Also, when you miss a strike, keeping the fly still will have them coming back. 40+ years using this method for trout.

Nice video and good tutorial , I'm still learning that technique , no luck and even never get any bite 😁 , I was using 2lb flurocarbon leader , wooly bugger , few different flies , still no luck , but , my bobber was sitting free on the line , no stopper , maybe that was the issue ? Gonna check your setup video. Maybe , you can suggest me a fly to use which works almost any time and color ? Thanks.

To pin your bobber carry some toothpicks in your tackle box. If a toothpick is to narrow use a stick. I would suggest a prince nymph, hares ear, copper John or any leech pattern (wooly bigger or balanced leech). Put a nymph a foot up your line and a leech pattern below it.

Do you have to use clear water bobbers, or does any streamlined float work?

    • @ReelMontana

We use clear fly bubbles, because the water here is usually crystal clear. If you have stained water you could get away with other bobbers.

Can you do a video on how to catch pike? I'm trying to find some good ways to target them and I know there are quite a few in NW montana, Thanks!
