@@memeomeme8351 Ever heard of Objectivism? Yeah there's a lot of preaching about the values of hard work but it really is just rich people whining about having to pay taxes. You know how in Bioshock Andrew Ryan starts with a speech about brow sweat ownership and then throughout the rest of the game he just keeps making excuses as he takes people's property (eminent domain), suppresses things he disagrees with (banning religious texts) and uses brainwashing (well, pheromones) when Fontaine does better then him at capitalism. All of which are things he previously complained about? That hypocrisy is objectivism in a nutshell.

Imagine thinking you’re the shit and are able to represent such a huge movement just because you’re powertripping on your mod rights. Certified Reddit moment.
Imagine spending your adult life specializing in modding a board for free rather than gaining a profession and eventually leading people. You just spent your life for internet points instead of something that actually makes a difference.
Alot of moderators seem to forget that they're not movement or thought leaders. They're, at most, internet hall monitors, and that's all their communities needs them to be.
Honestly the subreddit was doomed when they chose that name. “Work Reform” makes so much more sense, especially within the context of the past few years
basically those who founded the subreddit were like anarchists who didnt believe people should be forced to work, Doreen here was one of those people. But then work rights activists and pro-union people sorta turned it more into a work reform subreddit. But those original people were still around trying to push their ideas about not working at all.
What’s hilarious is that the interviewer didn’t even ask a hard question. Pretty sure the average human could do an hour of research and ace this interview. This truly is a Reddit moment
@@electricfishfan no, you couldn't coz you would need to be a reddit mod, if you were a reddit mod, you are as sad as this person being interviewed. He is the typical reddit mod and the typical reddit mod is him
Not just a Reddit moment. News outlets love to take advantage of people in these types of groups especially the more radical ones because they can’t properly articulate their stances and rebuttal while trying to use media training at the same time. It’s a very common scummy but smart tactic. Smart in the way that they profit and get little repercussions if they’re calling out for it.
Almost everyone is, this is not a joke if you compare cost of living, rent, mortgages and wages from now to the 80s, the minimum wage should be about 4-6 times higher than it is.
For one, statements like that kind of imply that minimum wage workers are worth less as people and deserve to be making poverty wages. Like because they do the dirtiest work, even though it needs to be done, they deserve to live the worst. Kind of a shitty mindset if you ask me. For another, if the minimum wage had kept up with inflation and the profits reported by the corporations that employ the majority of American citizens, it would be around $25/hr. So yes, those jobs should be paid much better - $45-50k per year is not enough when they literally house us, educate us, and keep us safe - but don't leave out the people who grow your food, cook your food, serve you your food, clean your home, your business, your streets, who sell you all the things that were also made by minimum wage workers, who package it and ship it to your house, and so on and so on.
I'm patiently waiting for the social media purge, when people finally get fed up with the advertisements and the censorships. Gonna be another 5-10 years.

Dog walker isn't bad at all... But being a part time dog walker and still complaining about work and being overworked to a point where you become a moderator for a subreddit named "antiwork" is just hilarious.
Yeah. I have a lot of sympathy for retail & service workers who just want a few days off and a non-abusive environment. Not so much for someone who makes a living walking around their neighborhood.
@@kylemanson1975 Oh its so much worse. What we saw in this video was just a drop in the bucket. What happened was that Fox asked for that *spesific* moderator, so they had done their homework. And that should have set alarm bells ringing, but no. The mods enthusiastically agreed to send this mid because 'he had some media experience' (his own words). Now this didn't even happen behind closed doors. They talked about it in the sub, and EVERYONE was shouting at the mods to abort. The whole community knew exactly what was going on and tried to reason with the mods. They took it as unfounded criticism and thought this was a great opportunity. So they went behind everyone's backs and sent this guy. After the interview the sub got bombarded with questions, memes and just assholes brigading for fun. The sub didn't stay closed for long, just for some hours. After it opened people tried to carefully approach the mods to understand why this happened. Well it was a massacre. Just mentioning the issue got your post deleted. People were banned and blocked left, right and center. They were doubling down hard and lashing out at anyone that dared to criticize them. And as was stated, without hyperbole, the sub died. There was a mass exodus to /r/workreforn and that was it. There's even more to the farce, but I haven't got the energy to delve in to it. Anyone interested will quickly find relevant threads. P.S. One more thing. The sub was never about better working conditions. It was literally about ending work, as was stated in the sidebar. It just happened that the sub got visibility and attracted a lot of people looking for a better work culture. But the weirdo mods were always about not working at all.
What's most interesting is that all mods from that sub actually nominated Doreen to do it as they believed that Doreen was the BEST person to do it. Just think about it. Doreen, a person who in 2 minutes caused the entire sub to lose all their credibility. Was considered "the best" for this interview. This tells volumes, VOLUMES about other mods.
The new mod is actually a 21 year old unemployed person. Work reform subreddit that came in existence after this shit show also has really stupid mods.
nah, he claimed that he had been involved in this type of situation before so the natural thing to do is to let the experienced do it but oh boy this sure was a trainwreck
dude had the choice of saying "not everyone has the option to quit a terrible job, because they need the money to live" and chose "laziness is a virtue in society"
The funniest thing is, the sub he was "representing" is in shambels cause they know as earlier most people thought of them as lazy losers who refuse to work (some of them were fighting for worker rights yes, but reddit is reddit), now noone will take them serioulsy, ever
The fact that the community went "hey yeah don't do this interview with FOX" and then they mods went on anyways with the both worst qualified and biggest target of FOX sent to interview was the most dumb decision I've seen from a mod team
Lmao. Listen. Fox is extremely ingenuine when trying to 'listen to the other side' (CNN has this over Fox at least but CNN is extremely alarmist so both are shit, but I digress) go back to their feminist clips. There are sooo many well educated feminists that could at least put an argument for feminism in but who does Fox get? The woman who thinks AIR CONDITIONERS are sexist. They do this for everything cause they know their fanbase already has a picture of whatever group and instead want them to go 'hey, we were right all along about these guys, you should keep listening to us cause clearly we're the only voices of reason'. News networks are ass. Not saying the subreddit is great but Fox is disinengenious
Same shit happened to Occupy. Instead of interviewing people in the movement who actually had something substantive to say, Fox and the like interviewed actual degens who said Occupy was about "rain dance rights" or some asinine shit. These morons willingly stepped into a trap and killed the whole movement for airtime.

Some other good points that were missed, the mod was actually unemployed at the time of interview and had been fired from their last job at a Doggy Daycare about a year ago. Over the past year the only money the mod has made from the mom paying the mod to walk the dogs for an hour or 2 a day. The mod lied about working 20 hours a week, because the mod actually works 0 hours a week and leaches off the mom.
One day I was talking to my grandpa and chatting about work. I told him that I don't want to work in the food industry anymore or do any more low-paying jobs like that. He praised me for wanting to do better, but then he said something that will always stick with me: "There's always gotta be a man for a job. No matter how much the pay is, they are providing to society far more than they could even imagine, so don't feel bad about being a line cook, because a lot of people rely on cooks so they can simply have the privilege to eat at a restaurant where food is cooked and given to them". And when he said that it made a lot of sense. I feel that the food industry has not evolved with the times. The resource and the food costs keep getting bigger but pay stays relatively stagnant. It's extremely hard for any line cook to live on their own, they either have to still live with their parents or have roommates. Even though some of the best cooks are at the age of 25-30. It just boggles me that people still think restaurant work isn't shit. Everyday I'm cooking pasta, rice, sauces, meats, etc. Doing techniques most people don't use in their own home, yet I'm supposed to get paid such a minimum that makes it to where I'm always poor. I have to do something grand in order to have a comfortable living. That's not how it should be, at all.
@@sportyjhf5 yeah, there multiple things happening here. The fact that the reddit is called "antiwork" is just a dumb name. I'm not antiwork, I'm just anti-vicious cycle of being poor. The value of your work is just basic supply and demand
You cook pasta, rice, sauces...I do that too, I do it for free, at home. No one pays me. And I have to pay for the ingredients myself. And If i don't cook, I don't eat. Sorry, but no one is going to pay a cook more than they have to BOIL an item...literally, you are just boiling food, lol. You want to make more money? Here's a tip: open up your own Restuarant. Owners make the money. A cook who boils pasta, rice, tea, is not a very skilled individual. Your grandpa gave you incorrect advice. If more than a few people can do what you do, you are expendable. Be indispensable that they can't afford to lose you or else someone else will hire you. Sad, but true. If you think a low skilled job should pay you X money, then a skilled job will pay 4X, then what difference does it make if you make 30 dollars an hour, but others with skills are making 120 dollars an hour? You want easy, big money for NO responsibilities, Good luck. I do too. I would love to work as tv watcher and get paid. Maybe in a parallel universe. Not this one.
@@secondrule I'll address a few things. 1. There a difference between you cooking food at home vs. me cooking at my restaurant. First off I'm not cooking for just me and 4 other people. I'm cooking for 100s of people a day. On top of that there is a long list of recipes my restaurant makes. We have 6 different kinds of pasta made everyday, we make all our own meats ranging from cut bacon to ribs to tri tip to prime rib, cooked everyday. We make almost all of our own sauces, which is about 30, everyday. The necessary abilities to be able to cook this much food and be able to do it well is definitely not something normal people can do in their homes and thats a fact. You may be an exception to the rule. But most people aren't able to cook like this for themselves. They rather go out and eat. You say no one is going to pay me to boil an item. You are undermining what I do, period. 2. Should I open up a restaurant? Great question. No. I don't want to wait around until i have somewhere around 6 figures to throw at a used restaurant lot so I can "make more money". In fact, I don't need to be paid that much. Fun fact but I actually know my worth. I work at a restaurant which isn't anything grand, I should not be paid more than I'm worth You see how that works? A person can know that he or she should be paid more but not more than their worth, like me. All I'm shedding light on is what cooks are being paid for is not yet to the point to sustain your own life minimally. We just need a tad bit more money buddy, not a 6 figure bank account. Work with some nuance next time. 3. My grandpa gave me powerful advice throughout my life. Spending 20 years of my life with him has surely made it to where no unknown youtube commenter is gonna change my mind. Crazy right.
The thing about antiwork is its always been like that, the "new face" of antiwork where people are calling for reform and better working conditions is only a couple of months old. If they were gonna send anyone to do this interview, it shouldn't have been a mod. Because the people that have the time to moderate a subreddit are most likely not the ones suffering the hardest from unfair work treatment
That is what I was thinking. Also reddit is being valued at like 15 billion and is owned by a family of billionaires. How comes none of these people have any problem doing free work for a billion dollar company. I am an employer and I am about as close to being a millionaire as most of you.
Workers are treated like shit, and that should definitely change. That said, there's not a system of government in the world where you don't have to work. It's just not how things go. "Work reform" is such a better outlook than "anti-work."
"Workers are treated like shit" is such a blanket statement though. The more untalented or replaceable you are, the worse your working conditions are going to be. This is only natural, there are lot's of other people competing for your job that are willing to work under those conditions. If you don't want to be treated like shit, get a marketable skill that makes you sought after on the market. If you have leverage over your employer, you can make the demands.
@@Katt1n workers are never replaceable, the only thing that makes them appear replaceable is a society structure that forces them into jobs that are less than adequate, if people wouldn't have to worry about paying for a basic life, managers would get a stroke because they couldn't hire people for shit wages and ruthlessly horrible jobs. It's not a market if only one party can negotiate.
@@izumemori What you just said has nothing to do with whether or not a worker is repaceable or not. If 10 people are lining up to take your job then you are by definition replaceable. If you have 10 employers looking for your expertise, you are not easily replaceable. If there is a higher demand for your expertise you are in a position to negotiate, if there are an abundance of it on the market then you are not.

The fact that the subreddit was named anti work meant it was already sending out the wrong message and after this interview I doubt anyone will take them seriously.
Someone joining a sub called antiwork in the first place is kinda weird. Makes me think that a good amount of those people is antiwork. Maybe the sub had good intentions like work reform, but the name "antiwork" in of itself can end up as a double-bladed sword. Any person passing this by for the first time would assume that the sub is against work also It's the same thing as the "All Men Suck" movement that happened on Twitter. Most of the idiots supporting that claimed that their objective was not that all men suck(debatable) but the name of the movement itself invalidates all of that since it implies that men suck
Frankly, the movement was destined to fail the moment they called it something as stupid as "Anti-Work". Whoever thought people would look deeper into what the board's goal was has apparently never heard of clickbait.
According to people who joined early on, anti-work actually perfectly described the attitude most of the members had. Its focus eventually shifted to work reform, but many of the older members (this mod included) still subscribed to literal anti-work.
Its meant for work reform and eventually working to where everyone isn't dependant on a job to survive. Making working conditions safe, fair and livable but some do believe that no work is better which I can understand to some degree in a utopian society but since that's not to case it better to compromise with better conditions in a job working environment.
It's stuff like that, that makes me think it's all part of the modern day propaganda. A more sophisticated form that utilizes the useful idiots to inadvertently work against their own beliefs. For example. 'We want police accountability!'. MSM's puppet masters: 'What's that? you want to defund police?'. 'No that's insane, we want to reallocate Useful idiots: 'DEFUND THE POLICE!' MSM: 'You heard it here folks, these people want no police in the country. Sounds like a bunch of loonies to me, best just ignore everything they say as whole. And don't let them trick you otherwise, they want no police at all and to have criminals control the nation'. Fox does this stuff to every civil rights movement. Go back and watch the March On Wallstreet. The most pro American, pro capitalism, pro living wage thing of the last 80 years and Fox news's coverage was splicing together the handful of jokers like this demanding Arby's curly fries cost less, as economics professor's from world renown colleges stood directly behind them trying to get an interview to restore the country to its former glory, and sustainability.
I remember specifically being called a "basement dwelling incel" by one of the mods in this sub-reddit, and then getting IP banned from the entire website. They got on Fox News and sure showed me.

@@colinsnyder4661 I've probably seen a little bit of it here and there too, serious people. Of course they would organazit so that no one else would take it seriously. It won't kill it, the spirit of it can't be killed, it will just go underground. Keep fighting for having control over the elite yank.
I dont care what they stood for or what they wanted, a subreddit called "antiwork" is just a horrible name and immediately gives a bad impression. They have since made a new sub called WorkReform which seems to be more in line with what they initially stood for. Maybe now I could respect them if they prove to not carry any of the stupidness from the old one
I don't use reddit and you are right the name antiwork is a really bad choice. A name like WorkReform would have been much better. The former just comes off as people who are entitled, lazy and want everything in this life handed to them. While the latter comes off as people who don't want to be slaves to the system.
Yeah I definitely get behind the idea that there needs to be reform of working conditions but this definitely took a turn for the worse at some point (probably the moment they named it "antiwork") and never recovered
I don’t agree with anti work but I could’ve literally made a small script in about 5 minutes of potential questions and meanings behind it to sound logical that would easily pass the interview. “You could quit your job any time” “There needs to be enough people to unite and group together in order for these companies to realize the disparity between hours and wage, the conditions aren’t great and we feel America can play us better on these parts” It’s easy
In this case, this is a self-inflicted own of the highest caliber. This Doreen character could have just done anything else but show up. Instead, 15 minutes of game turns into 5 real quick.
Oh yeah lets be the soul issue to an anti work propaganda issue during the lowest work generation there is in a lot of 1st world countries, that'll generate tons of revenue!
Now talk about the moderator's reddit posts where they admit they only work 10 hrs a week (lying to look better in an interview), and got fired for neglecting dogs on an overnight job to the point the dogs destroyed the bottom half of a door.
You get what you pay for. If they're not willing to pay him $200 an hour for an incredibly difficult and dangerous job then they will get the bare minimum, m'lady.
@@JamesSheldonUnofficial Well actually dog watching is SUPER dangerous, I was playing with a dog and he almost bit me instead of the toy! Who would pay for physical and mental damage and ANGUISH that I wouldve gotten? I think 200 is even on the low side.
@Ian Davis bro don't be throwing that around. Yah the mans cringe and stupid but don't suggest cp unless you have evidence.thats a serious notion and it should be treated as such.
I joined r/antiwork because I originally thought it was purely comedy. Quickly found out all these people were genuinely serious and now its just even funnier
I'm too serious to think a place called r/antiwork is a comedy. So, I would have never joined in the first place. Not saying work reform is terrible, but most of the people on the subreddit were advocating for a lot more than better work conditions. So much more in fact that the entire economy would grind to a halt the second antiwork had their way.
I feel like the fact that the sub was titled "Antiwork" made it a disaster from the start. From my understanding, it's an insane-sounding, hyperbolic title that doesn't actually accurately describe the goals and beliefs of the group.
The sub had a good message, to be paid a liveable wage and to be treated fairly. That mod didn't get dressed, didn't clean their room, barely mentioned what the movement us about. Fox News got what they wanted. The r/antiwork sub is in shambles and now a new subreddit-r/workreform-has to pick up the pieces. The whole situation is just terrible.

I feel like if anything; construction workers, teachers, ER responders, and firefighters are in dire need of wage raises.

Owners make the money. A cook who boils pasta, rice, tea, is not a very skilled individual.
Your grandpa gave you incorrect advice. If more than a few people can do what you do, you are expendable. Be indispensable that they can't afford to lose you or else someone else will hire you.

I work at a restaurant which isn't anything grand, I should not be paid more than I'm worth
You see how that works? A person can know that he or she should be paid more but not more than their worth, like me.
All I'm shedding light on is what cooks are being paid for is not yet to the point to sustain your own life minimally. We just need a tad bit more money buddy, not a 6 figure bank account. Work with some nuance next time.
3. My grandpa gave me powerful advice throughout my life. Spending 20 years of my life with him has surely made it to where no unknown youtube commenter is gonna change my mind. Crazy right.

Maybe the sub had good intentions like work reform, but the name "antiwork" in of itself can end up as a double-bladed sword. Any person passing this by for the first time would assume that the sub is against work also
It's the same thing as the "All Men Suck" movement that happened on Twitter.
Typical reddit moderator
Not terrible it was fucking funny
What's a liveable wage
@Prey R sounds more like some anarchist or libertarian quote than a Marx supporter
It's not terrible it's hilarious
Dude, I was a member of this subreddit for forever. And we're ALL pissed at the mods for this because he misrepresented everything.
What you expect from an anarchist lmao
