    You should show him Ghost Love Score or The Poet and The Pendulum, or even The Greatest Show On Earth. I think he would be absolutely thrilled about those.

      I don't agree. Ghost love score is not for a rocker of his type, but for someone who focuses mainly on Floor's singing. The right choice is Yours Is an Empty Hope (Wembley) or Tribal (live). Let's let him get to know the imagination of Tuomas and the creativity of the band and see what Floor can do with her voice😊

      IMO TPaTP as well as TGSoE are at the end of the journey. Enough heavy, unexpected material by Nightwish to explore before those.

    • @NightwishArena

      I disagree. GLS is for everyone who appreciates the complex song structure. It's one of the best compositions, even before the Floorgasm.
      TPATP is one of their best songs (if not the best), even without knowing all the things behind it, and most reactors are never going to get to that level of Nightwish "fanhood", that they would check the full backstory. Heck, most of the "army" thinks that the backstory is that stupid open letter and Tarja's reply. It's not, it's the whole journey before it happened. So do you think they should skip it, because they don't "deserve" it? You are making way too much of an obstacle of it, because it is amazing song. Some of the best reactions to it has been "blind".
      And I need to say this. Years ago when this reaction scene started, I was among the very first (if not the first one) who were yelling about this backstory thing, but then I realized, that it's very unlikely have the same effect for new fans, that it had on us. They should read everything, watch all those old documentaries, and watch every interview they can find, to even get a bit closer. Even then they can't develop that kind of bond to old Nightwish, which came from years of following their each step. And to know just a tiny bit of how Tuomas felt, you really need to know how they were before things went south. So I think it might actually be very controversial just to read those open letters.

      @KristiinaBerg 6 місяців тому

      @@NightwishArena I did not mean you have to know the full backstory. I have heard from many reactors that the impact of those two songs (TPaTP and TGSoE) was greater because they had "grown into" the Nightwish music. They were like the crowning glories.

    Different guitars, what's amazing is that Empuu is playing both the rhythm and lead parts and sometimes both at the same time.

    Yes, totally right. Nightwish songs are journeys. They do normally not follow any known pattern. In that respect it is very progressive. That makes them more demanding for the listeners. When you have listened to the song so many times that you know it, then you have learned a new pattern. And, as Nightwish songs are different, it will be many new patterns, that develops your brain. Fans of Nightwish become more complex and brighter one could say 😁.

    John is a perfect candidate for the more complex songs by Nightwish, Ghost Love Score should be right up his ally, Greatest Show on Earth would probably blow his mind ;)
    So you got a job to do Joel, show this man more Nightwish :p

    Fascinating. Romanticide is one you might play to someone that isn't ready for the real complex stuff. Its a great choice for someone stuck to American mainstream. I'd love to see what this guy would make of GLS or Poet. He's obviously a thinker.

    Ya know what is the super cool thing about Floor? On any given day she is International rock goddess, Netherlands national treasure. To Sabaton she's "just our drummers' wife and two little kids just know her as MOMMA (which in my book is one the best gigs in music.

    I really liked how John pointed out Nightwish isn't traditional. They're definitely not that. And if he thought this by watching Romanticide, then I wonder what he'd think about the more complex songs.

  • @clivematthews5296
    @clivematthews5296 6 місяців тому +34

    Nightwish is not traditional. We've all heard the boring basic pop/rock music and that's why we enjoy them instead. Sadly it's also why US radio/tv don't play Nightwish as it's too complex for the masses. Consider that this is one of their simple songs. At least the next one by The Warning will be pop/rock.

    So, he likes journeys with unexpected patterns. I think you shall show him BAND-MAID, Hanabie, Lovebites and Ayreon.
    The day the world breaks down (TDTTWBD) by Ayron would be perfect or even better Everybody Dies, it is very prog. TDTTWBD is more epic though.
    We Love Sweets by Hanabie is very prog. I think he will like that. But actually, "Pardon me, I have to go now" is a story.
    From BAND-MAID, maybe Play? It has no structure. They have several.
    From Lovebites we have a Frozen Serenade, Swan Song, Break the Wall and several other proggy ones.
    Lastly we have Nemophila, but they are not all that proggy, they stick to more traditional patterns. They are best though 😉.

    interesting comment John made about European audiences being more receptive to bands. Everywhere else in the world, Nightwish sells out large festivals and arenas. In America, they play mostly clubs and small stadiums.
