I've had an Evo X MR since 2012, and I've been running 400hp for the majority of that time, stock everything except an exhaust and an ECU tune. A couple of years ago the timing chain failed at idle so I rebuilt the engine with Manley H beam rods and JE pistons, ARP head studs and rod bolts, new valves and turbo. I'm now approaching 300,000km and I'm still on the original (stock) clutches and trans, which (touch wood) I've had no problems with. My advice is to be obsessive about your maintenance and services, oil changes etc. Best car I've ever had.

Ron knows his stuff, and he is a good dude it seems like. Went out of his was to make a situation right for me when he didn't have to. And out up with a sh*t attitude I had before I was ASE certified and knew what I was talking about.
That said there are some employees there that must not be paying attention, because my GSX went there two times. Both times I had serious issues due to negligence. First time the head was removed by them for machining, a new gasket, and Magnus intake manifold, and a pump gas tune. I got it back and it would misfire hard after being on the freeway for 10 mins. I figured it out myself and it ended up being due to my 6 bolt swap and a setting in ECMlink being not properly set up.
Then a month later I had a cylinder not contributing at all, no compression, but leak down was 8-percent which is really good. I removed the valve cover and observed every single cam tower bolt being finger tight except for one. That bolt was broken off. Luckily the head of the bolt was still right there and the rest could be spun out by thumb. (Meaning also only finger tight). So someone forgot to torque them to spec.
Ron made it right by looking over and rechecking everything ( except one of the other techs there forgot to use the ARP hardware I supplied the for the second go. so he had to do it twice, or technically that would be a 3rd time.)
Next visit I installed a full-blown dual pump hanger, braided fuel lines, new rail, new FPR new injectors. I messed up an injector during the install, but that's another expensive story. Was still learning at that time. But when I brought the new injectors and it was dyno day I was at school, they said the oil pan needs to be sealed up better before it goes on the dyno. I said "cool can you do it" I can't leave school."
And someone there did.... And forgot to put the spacer for my axle support bracket back in during the process. That spacer takes up the space between the engine block and what was once the home of a factory AC compressor bracket. This led to a stress fracture and eventually total breakage of the mounting boss on the back of my engine block. So the axle support started flopping around. I found it before any catastrophic damage was done. But at the very least the engine must come out for access to the damage for repair. Even then, the idea of welding on my block next to soft bearings is not comforting. On top of that, there are 2 short bolts for the oil pan. Whoever put the bolts back in out those bolts in random spots, so about 45 days after getting the car back the timing belt started getting a weird line down it and started to tear/fray. The short bolts are there because they are meant to go in to the points below the crankshaft sprocket that drives the timing belt. The incorrectly installed long bolts would make intermittent contact with the timing belt and do damage to it. If I had a timing cover on i never would have known and it's possible that it would have worn to the point the belt snapped.
I hope Ron is being more strict with who he lets work there. He's been doing this a longtime and I know sh*t happens, but it's been a trip every visit I've had there.
I've always been happy with Ron's engine calibrations so I can't say anything on that front. My last time was 446whp at 22psi. I've had that time for two years and never needed an adjustment or refresh.

Ron at RS motors is a piece of shit. Don't work with him. Doesn't care about his customers, just funding his racing hobby.

Good to see a guide on tuning the Lancer Evolution
Now we need to see one on the Civic Type R and most importantly, the GR Supra

You guys should do a honda or first 2 gen miatas. Just because everyone boosts them nowadays but I want to hear tuner shops go more in depth about NA setups

Lol" if your granny shifting it will work." Slipping it dose make it sound filthy.
*I always felt like the boost almost pulls itself into gear, no need to force it*

That's some impressive turn-around time for the video! And yeah...don't be like me and be new to the chassis and buy a partially parted out car and piece it back together. I mean...I know this car like the back of my hand now, but, I could have bought two running ones with the investment. Lol. Great content as always. Can't wait to get my 8 on the track.
