- Jason Weaver sat down for his first-ever VladTV interview, and he opened up about his acting career, including roles in ATL and singing in The Lion King. When it comes to The Lion King, Jason revealed that he turned down a $2 million check and he asked for royalties instead, which he says was the better deal. Weaver also spoke about playing a young Michael Jackson in The Jacksons: An American Dream. Jason shared stories about preparing for the role and not recognizing Michael Jackson on set because he was in disguise, which you can hear more about in the full interview above.

Yes, shouts out to Jason, shouts out to his mother for raising him by herself, and shouts out to all of the mothers for doing all of the work by themselves and shouts out to all of the fathers for doing all of the work by themselves, like Jason said, unfortunately in the black community there are a lot of single parent families and households where the mothers are raising the children and working by themselves and the fathers are raising the children and doing the work by themselves.

I had the privilege of working with Jason on a play and I will say, he is consistently one of the most talented, kind, intelligent, empathetic, drama free and easy going people I’ve ever met. I pray that he has continued success and happiness!
I met him about 4 years ago. Really nice guy. Was super appreciative of me coming up to him and saying hi and not snobby at all. He even came back around just to shake my hand and say goodbye when he was leaving. I was working as a host at a restaurant in Chicago at the time.

I really appreciate Jason telling the truth about his opportunities. Many black folk are talented but if you're not connected in some way to Hollyweird (his Mom, a cousin?) You ain't getting in so easily. Either way he has to be ready when opportunities came knocking. He also pays much respect to his Mother for her guidance.

I've followed Jason for years! I'm so glad that he's one of few child actors who didn't end up going in the wrong direction. This was a great interview. Jason is still so intelligent and engaging. I was impressed with his answers to Vlad's questions...very tactful and respectfully articulated!!!

I've recently gained a whole lot of respect for Jason Weaver just off the fact that he's been in movies & TV shows that I watched growing up as a kid like: Drumline, ATL, Lottery Ticket, Lion King, Smart Guy, The Jacksons: An American Dream & etc but had no idea as a kid that he was the same person, especially with his role as Little Michael Jackson & a young Simba in Lion King until I got older and realized that all those movies that I watched with him in it was the same actor all along. I even recently found out that he did the hook on Chingy's song "One Call Away". He's truly a legend for sure and right now he's on my fave TV Show on television right now "The Chi"💪🏾.

You get those actors and singers that are so good at what they do. When I was a really young kid I really thought that Angela Bassett and Fishburne was really Ike and Tina....they were just that good. And just like that I really thought that Jason was MJ lol. Life long fan of him. Easily my favorite TV miniseries of all time.

This is nuts. I didn't think very much about him or his roles, before this interview.After listening to this I'm fairly certain he slowed his career down, maybe for a more normal life. This is beyond smart, way beyond intelligent. He was definitely not limited to just acting, or singing. I would not be surprised in the least if he ran a couple of company's... MIND BLOWN! I think I'm going to save a copy of this interview, if you see him fumbling at an interview, or struggling to make points, I would know it's pretend. Unfortunately, being black sometimes we have to down play our intelligence. He's not down playing shit in this interview.. WOW!

On a few occasions Vlad tried to get Jason to say something negative or to laugh at Chingy and his perspective and Jason just kind of weave that whole setup so nothing but love for Jason he's articulate smart knows how to play the game

One of my best Vlad TV interviews, Jason is so well spoken.
Come on Vlad...it had to be drugs?? I am also from a single parent household, born in the 70’s, raised in the 80’s and 90’s, and many of my friends were that way & like Jason said my friends had a spectrum of interactions with their dads. It didn’t have to be drug related. That generation was more raised to feel like the mothers were responsible for the kids and if the relationship didn’t work out they didn’t reach out to the kids much. It’s a shame, but it certainly didn’t have to be about drugs.
This really was a refreshing Vlad interview. And Jason’s energy and character is just top notch
