Geez, this was kind of mindblowingly impressive!! Fantastic work, Sabre...and thanks piles for giving 1 of your creations away!! (Even if you maybe didn't really want to... =P ). Um, so my fave Gameboy title is also Tetris!! Such a classic...
As a computer nerd...and gaming nerd...I can't say how much I LOVE this video. My favorite gameboy game by far was Pocket Bowling. I'm such a HUGE bowling fan, and as a kid I played that game non-stop on my gameboy trying to get as many perfect games as possible. Oh the memories...makes me want to go play it again, ahhh.
This is so awesome! I didn't know even know about this fantastic Piboy till your video! This is sooooo coooool! Wish I had the steady place of residence to make one :P Honestly, one of my favorite games for Gameboy was the "Game & Watch Gallery", a suite of old throw-back games. Very cheesy and very fun.
Actually, yes. Out of the 1,000+comments this video has, one person absolutely hated the intro. He couldn't manage to put together any meaningful criticism besides combinations of the words "sucks" and "garbage" as I recall, but he definitely made his feelings clear. So now I'm curious as to what you didn't like about it? Just the concept as a whole? The art? The music?
That was great! My favorite games are anything Mario as I love making the characters out of balloons! :) PS hope you guys enjoyed the balloon hat at PAX!
BoB n fishy ***** I think the point of this was to make it for the sake of modding something yourself. There are two types of people in this world, those who create and those who consume......anyone can play a game on a phone.....
BoB n fishy The ability to ROM any game to Retro-Pi is what makes this so awesome. Sure you can get a lot of classics on the phone, but imagine having every single NES game for free. That's a big deal.
Castlevania was my favorite game boy game, blew many hours in the car and many more AA batteries on it growing up. Nice tutorial, and great finished product! I'm hoping to aquire a printer in the near future to start working on fun projects like this.
Cool tutorial! Really enjoyed the technical side of this. I remember playing a lot of Great Greed on GB. It wasn't the best game by any stretch of the imagination, but it helped nurture my love of JRPGs :)
Oh man, my favorite Game Boy game of course is Pokemon Red. My mom usually would let me choose one thing from KB Toys when ever my parents brought me to the mall. Pokemon Red and Blue just so happened to have a release day a few days after my birth day. I brought that game home that birth-day week and it probably is The game that I have spent most of my time on. It's so great that it still holds up as a great game to this day.
I LOVE THIS SO HARD, KIM!!! ♡Super fantastic job! This is one of the best FD videos ever, imo ;) ..you always do the most awesome stuff♡ I'm an OG and got the original GameBoy when it came out (gift from my super cool Grandma). I only had Tetris for a while so that was my first favourite game by default lol ..not that Tetris wasn't awesome; it was and still is ;) After that I acquired Super Mario Land - that was probably the game I spent the most time playing; I'd play it right now if I still had it! A few other old favs of mine are Mario vs Donkey Kong, the Mega Man series and Donkey Kong Land series :D
This is pretty cool! It also matches your hair/shirt quite well. My fondest memories are playing Tetris with my friends on long road trips. I thought it was so cool I could play with my sisters. I did spent most of my childhood playing Pokemon Blue thought...
+Lynette Sugatan Thank you! You can check out my other tutorial videos, too, but unfortunately the Frag Dolls aren't making any more videos (and I took a job as an associate producer for the new South Park video game!). You can still find us all on twitch.tv/illuminate streaming video games for charity, though!
Awesome! It seems that a 3D printer can print just about anything. My favorite Game Boy game is Tetris. Games come and go, but a few decades later, and Tetris is still addictive.
My favorite games for all of the Gameboy's were Pokemon since I loved walking around in that world and seeing what the creators came up with for the designs of Pokemon
I actually have (or should I say, had, because I lost my Gameboy ages ago) a lot of favorites like the Pokemon games, Tetris, Super Mario Land, etc. But the one game that will always have a special place in my heart, is The Smurfs on the Gameboy. It was the very first game I got, ever, when I was six years old. It's the game that eventually sparked my hobby and my entire career into existence. :-)
what i love is that this tech is so cheap and available too anyone, except the 3D printer is not everyone that has! I have an anxiety too these things tho which is because of spectrum of beeing scared too mess it up doing myself, so i just bhought a raspberry pi 3 with case and controllers :)
My absolute favorite Game Boy game has to be Nemesis, I remember playing that game when I was so young and getting extremely frustrated when I would continuously die on the same stage every single time haha.
Hello Sabre. Ooh, I missed your giveaway but I love your brief and concise how-to-build Raspberry Pi Boy console video. I could not build one myself. I really love how you could build one easily without too much trouble.
This is brilliant. I might need to try making this myself. My favourite Gameboy game is between Tetris and Pokémon. I can't pick between them. I also used to love Advance Wars for the Gameboy Advance.
Harvest Moon.. I have played most games in the series but my favorite memory is the back of the school bus with my gameboy color playing harvest moon with a friend. Playing back then was like the original twitch where you would watch friends play over their shoulder..
The Original Super Mario world was amazing ! Which is how I got introduced to it through the remake on the gba. Secrets made it so much fun as a kid :'(
Awesome Video Ladies! Kid Dracula, or Akumajō Special: Boku Dracula-kun was one of my favorite games to play on the GB. Even though tetris was already out on computer and home consoles when it came out on GB, it will always remain a classic GB game. More important, though, let's not forget Tetris introduced a side-by-side two-player mode; competitive play required a “Game Link,” or “wire,” which physically tethered the player to her opponent. All bets, forevermore, were off. lol
Your video was super helpful when I was first interested in this. I am soon going to order putty a soldering iron and the parts soon! I know the pi boy was already given away, but my favorite gb game is pokemon yellow. I love pokemon and it is always fun to see what inspired the TV series and have it really simple to when there was only 151 of them.
My favorite game for the game boy would probably be monster house. I remember staying a little past my bedtime as a kid. It was a fun and kind of spooky game that gave me the creeps as a kid. It was also kind of a puzzle game in some areas which i like.
My favorite Gameboy game growing up is YuYu Hakusho Dai-2-Tama: Ankoku Bujutsukai for which I had the opportunity to play thanks to my Hong Kong cousins! It's a really fun fighter and the music is awesome!
My fav game was Pokemon Red cause it's the first game I ever got for gameboy. I begged and pleaded my grandparents to get it for me. Eventually we came to a compromise and they bought me both the gameboy and the game. 30 years old now... still playing pokemon :P
Help: Adding 4 additional buttons. L and R buttons and 2 additional buttons in the front. Can I still use the ribbon cable to wire them? Or do I need to find another way to connect them?
Wario Land 4, not only my favorite but my first game for my gb advance. Great bosses, fun powerups; a great time to be had all around. Also, that is really fricken cool I need to make one now.

Tetris was a classic, but tennis was awesome and so was blades of steel. Wow, I'm getting old... :-)
+Luciano Martinez I studied business in college! I learned about the Arduino, the Pi, and basic electronics from online tutorials like the ones on Adafruit.com! Thank you for the compliment, it was a pretty hard project ; )
We both love kirby and tetris! I have kirby on my gameboy. But my fave game is Pokemon Gold. It was a gift from my uncle and its what got me into games and pokemon. Anyway awsome vid. :-)
Are you following the tutorial linked in the description? If that doesn't help, your best bet is to make a post on Adafruit's support forums at forums.adafruit.com/ (forums dot adafruit dot com, if the link is hidden). I hope you get it working!
Sabre FD I used the detailed instructions but they have an easy install using jessi but when I connect the pitft nothing but the background light comes on.
I want my daughter to have this much passion for this stuff
Geez, this was kind of mindblowingly impressive!! Fantastic work, Sabre...and thanks piles for giving 1 of your creations away!! (Even if you maybe didn't really want to... =P ). Um, so my fave Gameboy title is also Tetris!! Such a classic...
This is amazing!! Love it! :)
lugeyps3 ohh luge was here :) lol
My favourite Gameboy game was pokemon fire red and tetris. Btw, I'm really happy that you liked the picture I drew of you. ^_^

NOSfusion You pretty much think she deserve more views for being cute.
It is not liked much because this is not rhe official channel
The vid is stolen

Tetris is also my favorite Gameboy game. Very nice work building this!
She's so cool. I've learned so much
Great video, Kim! The intro was awesome. I always loved playing Tetris, I played it so often I can't recall any other titles I played on my Gameboy.
Did the intro make anyone cringe a little?
Actually, yes. Out of the 1,000+comments this video has, one person absolutely hated the intro. He couldn't manage to put together any meaningful criticism besides combinations of the words "sucks" and "garbage" as I recall, but he definitely made his feelings clear. 1, Never said it Sucks or i hated it
2 i said it made me cringe and i was asking if others cringed too.
1, I never said you did (I was telling you someone else did). 2, I was just asking you why you cringed.
TitaniumInside oh sorry, it's hard trying to figure out the way someone is saying stuff over chat
SIMPLE STUDIOS Wanted to keep it to myself, but yes!
That was great! My favorite games are anything Mario as I love making the characters out of balloons! :)
PS hope you guys enjoyed the balloon hat at PAX!
i think i'll just stick with playing games on my phone. seems a little easier

I'll just stick with playing my actual Gameboy Pocket and Gameboy Color
Jayme Splendid Yup!
Castlevania was my favorite game boy game, blew many hours in the car and many more AA batteries on it growing up. Nice tutorial, and great finished product! I'm hoping to aquire a printer in the near future to start working on fun projects like this.
ppphhhhfffffftttt well... 2 years later.... can I get one?!
Demilicious 3 years later.... Me too
Cool tutorial! Really enjoyed the technical side of this.
I remember playing a lot of Great Greed on GB. It wasn't the best game by any stretch of the imagination, but it helped nurture my love of JRPGs :)

Damn girl, you are a pro! :O
My favorite Game Boy game is of course Pokemon Blue.
Link's Awakening was my favorite gameboy game, I was the happiest little nerd around when they remade it for the gbc lol
what i love is that this tech is so cheap and available too anyone, except the 3D printer is not everyone that has! I have an anxiety too these things tho which is because of spectrum of beeing scared too mess it up doing myself, so i just bhought a raspberry pi 3 with case and controllers :)

What a cool thing to do..especially if you're into building, tinkering and modding.
My favorite Gameboy game is Pokémon Yellow. It was my first GB game and catching Pokémon became my addiction.
Wow! this is so cool. I'd have to agree with Tetris being my favorite too!!!
Just learning about this. This is the coolest thing I have seen... And btw my favorite game boy game is Pokemon
My favorite game was Madden football and of course Tetris. Good job on the game it looks awesome!
Looks great! I'd say my favorites were Tetris and Ninja Turtles. I played those the most on my original Gameboy.
Not bad, my friends and I built a custom dmg last night and we're planning on using the old dmg shells to make a piboy portable computer.
Aw...contest is over eh... awesome work nonetheless. It's all about that Tetris btw. Cheers! I subbed and liked.
My favorite game for the game boy would probably be monster house. I remember staying a little past my bedtime as a kid. It was a fun and kind of spooky game that gave me the creeps as a kid. It was also kind of a puzzle game in some areas which i like.
This is so cool! I will most definitely build one if I don't win this. Nothing like reliving your childhood ahha.
My favorite gameboy game would probably have to be the original pokemon red or blue by the way. Can't beat the classics ahha
Love this idea. Pokemon silver would have to be my favorite game boy game
My favorite Gameboy game growing up is YuYu Hakusho Dai-2-Tama: Ankoku Bujutsukai for which I had the opportunity to play thanks to my Hong Kong cousins! It's a really fun fighter and the music is awesome!
You my friend have just earned a new subscriber!!
My fav game was Pokemon Red cause it's the first game I ever got for gameboy. I begged and pleaded my grandparents to get it for me. Eventually we came to a compromise and they bought me both the gameboy and the game. 30 years old now... still playing pokemon :P
This would fit into my collection perfectly!!
Got to love all the sonic games for the gameboy :)
Mario 6 Golden Coins was the first non-tetris game I got and I loved it! Bought it on 3DS to play again ;D
My favorites were Tetris (of course), but also Final Fantasy Legend, which no one else seems to remeber!
1. Pokemon Yellow it was my first game and I put an untold number of hours into it. 2. This video is awesome and I would love to see more like it.
great video cant wait to do this project with my daughter one day!
My favorite would have to be Pokemon: Crystal! I loved that you could finally pick a female character. Also, love that Assassin door! ;D
I used to steal my little brother's Gameboy all the time to play Donkey Kong, it's still a fave today!
Absolutely Dope! Thank you for sharing love vids like these :)
I arrived in very interesting part of You Tube :D Electronics + beautiful girl = that's so weird and very cool at once :)

+Chaflan Villa Adafruit.com! They have a full tutorial in the video description, too!
Help:
Adding 4 additional buttons.
L and R buttons and 2 additional buttons in the front.
Can I still use the ribbon cable to wire them? Or do I need to find another way to connect them?
How can you transfer virtual console games in the 3ds to the rasberry pi game boy
Your soldering skills are sick.
The incredible mental discipline your showing, did you learn this on your own or in college?
+Luciano Martinez I studied business in college! I learned about the Arduino, the Pi, and basic electronics from online tutorials like the ones on Adafruit.com! Thank you for the compliment, it was a pretty hard project ; )
Pokemon Crystal was my childhood. I restarted it I think twice. Kirby Dream Land was also really great.
We both love kirby and tetris! I have kirby on my gameboy. But my fave game is Pokemon Gold. It was a gift from my uncle and its what got me into games and pokemon. Anyway awsome vid. :-)
Can you help me get my adafruit 2.8 pitft to work with my raspberry pi? Having trouble displaying, only get a white screen.
Are you following the tutorial linked in the description? If that doesn't help, your best bet is to make a post on Adafruit's support forums at forums.adafruit.com/ (forums dot adafruit dot com, if the link is hidden). I hope you get it working!
Sabre FD I used the detailed instructions but they have an easy install using jessi but when I connect the pitft nothing but the background light comes on.
thats some awesome work. im sure it took quiet a bit of time and patience
This was takes awesomeness to a new level
I enjoyed Crash Test Dummies for its soooooort of sandbox feel. It wasn't really sandbox, but was the closest I had gotten to one at that time.
