Hate to backseat but the bishop jumpscare is a mate in 2, the opponent can block with the knight 😉
True, but I think bishop jumpscare on B2 (?, right next to the white king) is mate in 1

Pretty fun variation, but more weirdly is that you confused me like crazy with that Scaramouche theme as I literally came from the extended version posted here on UA-cam. Thought it was still running in the background 🤣
I'm guessing they just took a regular board and cut out the 1st and 8th ranks (and A and F files), hence the mistake of calling the last rank the 7th still.
This and rifle chess are the best chess variants, IMO. Speaking of which, have you played rifle chess yet?
The layout bears resemblance to Comouter Shogi, a simplified shogi variant for ai training. It has a 5x5 board with similar starting pieces and location.

4:42 correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Bishop on b2 check > king f5 > rook d5 a checkmate? The only safe square the king could move to that's not being attacked by a bishop or the rook is e6 but that's covered by the knight
You just ruined your opponent's life instead of a simple checkmate.
This move would be blocked by the knight, and after capturing it the knight will block again.
This is like Mini Shogi

King is worth more and Bishop pair is good for checkmating with a Rook.
Also, thats just a Trade. Bishop takes, Rook takes, Knight forks, King moves diagonally and takes the Rook when you take the other Fook.

This game mode sucks. If you promote your pawn to the 6th rank to be a bishop, that means you can never have 2 bishops of a different color no matter which side did you start at, which means if you actually do promote it to be a bishop and it turns out to be a 2 bishop endgame, it'll be a stalemate.
You can, if you capture your opponent Bishop
You cant have stalemate via insufficient material in a game mode where every captured piece can be returned to the board
