Why was Jesus swaddled and laid in a manger?
Вставка

- The fact that Jesus would be swaddled and lying in a manger is repeated three times in the Nativity story. So why is this phrase so significant, why would this be a sign to the shepherds, and how can it point us to the mission and atonement of Jesus Christ.

The specific place in Bethlehem where the manger was located, was in a field where the official ceremonial sacrificial lambs were raised. His life literally began as a living sacrificial lamb. His story from beginning to end is so rich with mind blowing detail. Hallelujah.
@Paul Simonson it doesn't
Rejoice and Sing!!!I am crying and very humbled. HIS Name is Forever above all others!!!

But it is likely because there, in the fields outside Bethlehem, was the location of the Temple lamb pasturing. The newborn lambs were taken at birth, cleaned in a stone manger, inspected for spots or blemishes, and if declared spotless, wrapped in strips of linen swaddling.

Careful in spreading this type of word.. first comes Antichrist claiming to be Christ himself. Many will follow him firstly not knowing he is truly the Antichrist... Do not speak YOUR mind, let the holy spirit speak THROUGH you.
Meaning when and if we face the Antichrist himself within our lifetime, the only matter at hand that is important is to not speak opinions or call out Satan, but to simply stay quiet and let the Lord speak through you.. in other words only Faith is what is needed and lies within it true salvation. Plain and simple, inside your head, not a word spoken. FAITH.
You be ready too

Don't you all know what this manger was?. It is certainly not the Catholic tourist "Church of the Nativity". Many may not be familiar of what once stood in Bethlehem.
This was not just any animal stall as many erroneously state.
Jesus was born in a special place...the Migdal Edar.
In Bethlehem at that time, there stood a tower just on the outskirts of town.
These types of towers were used in those days to watch for attack, armies advancing, predators after sheep, etc.
This tower was used as a military tower at one time, but also to "watch over the flocks by night".
The flocks the shepherds watched over were not just any flocks, they were the sheep used in the Temple sacrifices.
In the bottom of this tower, the Migdal Edar, is where the new lambs were birthed and wrapped (or swaddled). These lambs were the choicest to be used as Passover Lambs in the Temple.
Well, when the shepherds were told they would find the child lying in a manger and wrapped in swaddling, they knew right where to go. The Migdol Eder. Who is the ultimate Passover Lamb but ur Savior?. When John the Baptist said, "Behold, the Lamb of God", this was probably well-known among the people around Bethlehem (John 1:29).
The Migdal Edar is even mentioned in Micah 4:8 as the Tower of the Flock.
It is also mentioned in Genesis 35:21 as reference to Rachel's burial place.
Jesus was not born in some random animal stall. He was born at the birthing place where the sacrificial lambs were born that were used for Temple sacrifices. The shepherds that saw the Angel of the Lord and Jesus were the shepherds that tended this special flock.
The angel told the shepherds that there would be a SIGN unto them: swaddling clothes and a manger. When they heard this regarding the Savior being born in Bethlehem, as Micah had foretold, they knew right where to go.
Thank you for your comment! I will add that Bethlehem was known as David's city, and David was a shepherd before he became a king. So it's likely that the area you mentioned -- the Migdal Edar -- was the same area David had tended his sheep -- a vital key in identifying the Messiah's birthplace.
Right ON!!
Wow thanks for sharing !!
@@victoriahart1630 it was actually David's Ancestral land which he dedicated to GOD for the raising of animals that would be needed when the Temple was built. Indeed, these were the fields where in his early years, he wrestled beasts to protect his animals. That story has very deep symbolic meaning!
I wish this information was more widely known. I discovered it only a few years ago and it thrilled me to bits. All the trappings added over the years have hidden this wonderful truth and most people have a warped view because these false ideas have dominated in the public square.
Perhaps there is additional significance to the swaddling and the manger: they seem also to point to Christ’s linen burial shroud in which He was wrapped, and the stone tomb in which He was laid, after His terrible crucifixion. Glorious Savior.
Jesus- the Bread of Life was laid in a feeding trough... That's amazing. He was cleaned as sacrifices were because He Alone is The Perfect Unblemished Sacrifice to take away the sins of the world...
I have also heard that the sacrificial spotless lambs were sometimes placed in the mangers by shepherds for protection from predators at that time. Undoubtedly that would have had significant meaning to the shepherds as well and would have helped them to recognize the infant as the sacrificial Lamb of God who would take away the sins of the world, the promised Messiah.
The sacrificial lambs were tenderly wrapped in swaddling clothes and kept clean for the temple sacrifice ..the temple priests undergarments were used as swaddling clothing and not discarded.
I love you, Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for my sins.💞🙏💧😓✝✡💓
What detailed insight regarding the material that the manger was made out of in that time period. The details regarding Jesus are some miraculous.
Even today we “swaddle” new borns. It is surprising how comforting swaddling is for them. While it may make adults feel like they were in a straight jacket to the baby it reminds them of the warm closeness of the womb.
So true. It helps get them accustomed to living in the outside world...
My mother, born 1925, was swaddled and also her twin sister. She was born in the region called Carelia or Karjala (in Finnish) and Karelen (in Swedish). She was born in a sauna (a small house standing on itself on every old farm), that was the cleanest and warmest place to give birth.
My grandpa was born in a shack in sallisaw Oklahoma and it had dirt floors...he was the toughest man I knew
My kids were swaddled too ((: how cute ❤
Yes in Asia we swaddle our babies. It's to keep them warm, to feel secure and to avoid involuntary jerks. It's done only for a short while, a week, a few days. But few practise that now.
This is Magnificently Beautiful!...Thank You JESUS!

Very beautiful and feeling the spirit of our loving Savior ❤ .
Glad you enjoyed the video! Merry Christmas!
One key piece missing is that the shepherds were levitical and their primary job to raise unblemished lambs for the temple sacrifice. And that the cave / stable / manger may have actually been the location where the shephered would go to help give birth to new lambs whom they wrapped in swaddling clothes so that they would not harm themselves (blemish).
I was hoping someone would mention this. Thank you! You wrote that the Shepherds were levitical. Could you please show me where I can research this for myself?
I will also add that the city of Bethlehem was David's city, and he was a shepherd before being a king. This area and the work of shepherding is important in identifying Yeshua hamashiach as the authentic Christ child. At that time, shepherds were scorned/looked down upon and not allowed to attend Temple because they occasionally handled the bodies of dead animals and were thus considered filthy/unclean; handling dead bodies was against Jewish law. That's why it is so unusual that the shepherds were the first people told of the child's birth.

MARY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN SWADDLING CLOTH FROM ELIZABETH WHOSE HUSBAND WAS A PRIEST ZACHARIAS ...PRIEST GARMENTS WEAR TORN INTO STRIPS TO MAKE SWADDLING CLOTH...GOD IS LOVE...
because he is the most high priest, even to the order of Melchizedek.........
That was very informative and educational. Learned something new.
Yes. And the swaddling cloth signifies that Jesus is our High Priest since it came from the high priest, Zacharias. Everything that happened to Jesus in his life has a significance in the Jewish holidays also.
That is correct. The troughs were used to cradle newborn lambs to keep them clean for Passover.
Did they not prepare before going on a journey?
Beautiful message ✝️
Thank you!
You know Jesus was a sweet baby. 💞💛💜❤💙💚💞💛💜
The word translated manger...also means Sukkot or tabernacle....a temporary dwelling erected at the Feast of Tabernacles in the Fall of the year. Yoseph took Miriam with him because her time was due. The swaddling cloths for a king in Israel were made from the priest's robes. Seeing that Zechariah was Yeshua's uncle, and was most likely provided by his aunt during the time of Miriam's visit at the time of her pregnancy.
I absolutely love Ezekiel 16!
one thing for sure is that Jesus Mary and Joseph had a stable relationship

Micah 4 said he would be born at the Tower of the Flock..... That is where they hold the lambs for the Temple sacrifice. It never said he would be born in a stable.

Thanks for sharing. I’m not sure about the leap to the communion, though. I think it’s best to keep the interpretation within its first century Jewish context.
Thank you for reminding us of the truth.

You should add in your next video that the "lamb of God" was born in the same stable as the sacrificial lambs as described in Micah 4:8 ..."unto thee shall come the first dominion" and that the reason for the shepherds to show up as witnesses was the fact that they were temple shepherds assigned to the temple flock and only they were authorized to inspect the lambs destined for the sacrifice if it was a first born male without blemish. This stable was built by the temple and only a ewe to have a first born was allowed to use it; being the cleanest place in all of Israel.
YES! Amen
One more set of facts that I had not heard before. Thank you.

The shepherds were told an infant wrapping in swaddling and found in a manger.. The shepherds would know Jesus was special because they (the shepherds) when a spotless newborn lamb who was born, shepherds would swaddle it and put it on the manger so it wouldn't get trampled. The shepherds understood the meaning of this, and were amazed that a child was born perfect and to be kept special for a sacrifice to God
