Farm Update & Food Plot Tour 2023

- 2023 has been a year of hard work improving our food plots for deer management. Over the last 15 years we have been battling the invasive Chinese Privet around the edges of our food plots and our roads. In this video I will show you how we improved our food plots by clearing the Chinese Privet using a forest mulcher. I will also show you the success we are having with the seed choice of 4S Advantage Harvest. The deer are hammering the food plots this year and we are seeing some really nice bucks. We have moved some stands around for better shot placement and also created some new shooting lanes that help with visibility. Much more to do in 2024 as we will continue to improve current deer stands and create new ones.
Thanks for watching!

Nice looking place you have.
Thank you!! Appreciate you watching!
Great to see you still at it 👍🏼
Still here…just been lazy with UA-cam…lol. Hope you are well!
@@TheHandyHunterI’ve watched almost all of your videos, love what you do and share how to do it. Do you have a video about how to build that stand ?
@@anthonykontos7931 I dont have any videos on building the tower but I do have one showing how I build the cabs. It was just a few vids back when I upgraded one of my cabs. Hope that helps!
@@TheHandyHunter if you ever do one I’d love to see it , I will definitely check it out. You’ve inspired me big time. Thank you for your response and help. One of the best channels I’ve come across ever since UA-cam made its debut.
Awesome! Thanks for the feedback! Stay in touch👍
Glad your still active.... was beginning to wonder!!!
Still here! How’s your season going?
Been busy and hunting as I can. Mostly Archery Hunting Deer... I've got until Jan 1st to fill tags. Selections are small deer so far and more does than bucks.
Mostly small deer or illegal to shoot deer around. I have until Jan. 2 to fill tags!@@TheHandyHunter
Good luck and I hope you get that big one!
Awesome video! Always love seeing your setup. Definitely inspiring to get my place to that level. Man that’s crazy they don’t eat the brassicas. Im on the MS/AL line and I plant them in mixes and they never make it to seed. But I’ve got a lot less food in my area so they might be more hungry ha.
Thank you! I may actually disk mine in this year to prevent them from seeding and provide green manure for the soil. That way I can plant some peas for summer…we’ll see. Thanks for commenting and keep in touch! Good luck hunting!!
What part of Ga you in I’m in Louisville Ga. Plots are looking awesome takes a lot of work to get plots like you’ve got by doing it the right way
We’re near Cordele. Plots are a lot of work but I really enjoy seeing deer use them!
Thought maybe you had given up hunting and taken up fishing! We have fed the 4S protein the last 3 summers and are seeing good results in antler growth. The deer empty the feeders in a couple days when we put it out. We'll have to try the food plot mix next year. The state has grain drills for rental to help put in your plots. This year we didn't till several and just drilled oats into the sprayed plots. Turned out great and saves a ton of labor. Hope your season is a good one!
I love doing both but I love the woods more this time of year! We did some Buck Muscle protein this summer, and like you said, we had 350lb feeders empty in 2 days. It will make a man go broke…lol! Grain drills are awesome and anything that helps with the labor of food plots is a big plus cause it’s a ton of work and costs. My son now has a passion for it so he’s a huge help. Keep in touch!!
What state your located? New subscriber. I like your channel. Alabama here
Central Georgia. Welcome to the channel!!
Several years ago you did a "Tractor Supply Oats vs Buck Forage Oats" video and intimated that you would do a follow-up in late season to see whether the palatability of the forage oats outperformed the cheaper brand. How'd that turn out?
It was basically the same results. Where Buck Forage may do better is in colder climates but it doesnt get that cold in central Georgia to make a difference. Also, the price of TS oats has doubled making it not as attractive cost wise. Can’t go wrong either way as deer just seem to love oats. Hope that helps!
