      Hi Drew! Mine is heavy on the tillage radish and lighter on the purple top turnip. More early to late season, all season blend with enhanced soil improvement, rather than later season focused. 8 #s per acre instead of 6#s per acre for maximum coverage and all season attraction. Our green blend has no oats (I've either dilluted the oats or not planted them), has tillage radish added and buckwheat...so a LOT different.

    2 part question. Part 1, Have you ever put dye (food color) into gly to be able to see where you have already sprayed to avoid over spray and going over the same spot and/or will that effect the chemical and not kill the weeds? Part 2 at what size of plot do you start splitting it in half with brassicas on one half and greens on the other? Thanks for all the info you give us for FREE! For the spraying, I use those little survey flags to visually see where I'm spraying... You can buy a bundle of 50 pretty cheap at Menards and they will last awhile. I spray with just water first while not moving the UTV to see rough width of spray and then put flags into my plots to that width to make sure I'm efficient with spraying

    My experience as a farmer is that buckwheat doesn't mix with anything. Like black walnut trees it's toxic to many othe plants. Great for cleaning out weeds. I don't know what other plants are able to grow with it but I'm sure some can.

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751

      The buckwheat mixes well with legumes (like peas, clover and beans), cereal grains, tillage radish...based on 2 decades of research and experience in a variety of conditions, soil types and states. It's actually not at all like black walnut. It can crowd out and shade, but you don't mix it at 40#s per acre...more like 12 to 15#s per acre. It mixes quite well...

    • @finallyfriday.
      @finallyfriday. Рік тому

      @@whitetailhabitatsolutions9751 hmmmm.... I planted it one year to build soil. It went to seed and some sprouted following year. Turnips, squash and cukes (not mixed with each other) all stunted but each had half without buckwheat and thrived. Only diff was a little buckwheat, maybe 5% max of the crops. This has happened in various forms a few times in my 35 years. It's a great crop so I use it a lot but never mixes well for me. Maybe it's veggies it doesn't mix with. Ag agents say it contains (some Latin named) chemical that is a herbicide.

    Hi jeff, down here in South Central Wisconsin still waiting for a good rainfall to plant food plots. Would you get the seed on the ground now or would you wait it out for good moisture in the forecast at this point?

    • @bottoms35
      @bottoms35 Рік тому

      You need to wait until there is a definite chance of good rain. Otherwise the seed will dry out and die. Better to wait for rain, than to waste seed due to non-germination because of lack of rain. Best of luck to you this season 🦌🦌

    From my understanding you're in Minnesota. The regulations here state there's no baiting of deer and any food must be pulled a week before hunting. How does this work with food plots and hunting around Ag fields?

    Jeff could you broadcast this mix into standing dry soybeans? i'm leaving some row crop soybeans this year for late season and thought about seeding right into that. guessing not since the seeds might get caught up on the soybean's leaves?

    • @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751
      @whitetailhabitatsolutions9751  Рік тому +2

      50 to 75. I go 75 when I only let it grow for 4 to 5 weeks before terminating and pla ting fall plots...or 50 when I go 6 to 7 weeks. I prefer 4 to 5 weeks but the seed cost is a lot higher per acre! You can add a couple weeks for poor soil. Definitely early Summer as opposed to spring most of the time.
