    Спасибо большое, я как раз переживал, что мой натяжитель не работает, так как поршень задвинулся внутрь и не выходил, а оказывается его надо взводить нажав до конца. Это очень полезная информация для меня, потому что на российских ресурсах нет толкового объяснения как это сделать, спасибо большое ещё раз.

    I wish you had a video addressing oil leaks the 3.2 is so famous for. I have a 2006 a6 Avant that is a cream puff but god is it pouring oil

    • @EDGEMOTORS
      @EDGEMOTORS  8 років тому

      well these leak allot.... where is your leak coming from? front or back? most notorious leaks are usually from the cam udjuster solenoid O-rings....check those first....

    • @JoesGoldenGarage
      @JoesGoldenGarage 8 років тому

      EDGEMOTORS funny you say that I just paid $250 to have those o rings replaced. I pick up the car tomorrow we will see if it has stopped. They put die in the system to see if any more leaks are present. Thx for the info!

      EDGEMOTORS oh and I forgot to say it was leaking down front and back. Dye was added to the oil in case I have more leaks we can pinpoint them. Valve cover gaskets were done in 2014

    If a "new" tensioner doesn't have this ratcheting action, is it a defective part? I have 2 sets of tensioners I have purchased that don't ratchet like this and the chain skips when rotating the engine manually.

    • @EDGEMOTORS
      @EDGEMOTORS  5 років тому +1

      When you compress the tensioner once, there will be no ratcheting action, when you compress the tensioner second time, there is ratchetin action...

    Thanks - how do I know if its worth changing too tensioner only, or whether the chain is stretched and the full chain replacement is necessary? On my 3.2 FSI there is a brief rattle on startup, 105k miles. Thanks for the video

    Hi. I have a question whether all tensioners should have a lock? I bought an INA tensioner, which does not have a lock (the old original tensioner did not have a lock either). Audi Q5 3.2 fsi 2010. Regards

      You have a newer engine, those don’t have the locks anymore

    Hi Im looking to buy a 2011 A5 with 180,000 km. Do you suggest to replace just the upper tensioner? What about the bottom? I heard from some people that the chains don't need to be done, just the upper tensioner. What do you think? Thanks!

    • @EDGEMOTORS
      @EDGEMOTORS  4 роки тому +1

      Most of the time just the uppers go, but I did see bottom guides broken as well

    Thanks for the info I haven't had to do one yet but I will keep it in mind for a future job. At what millage they usually go bad ? Or it just random?

    • @EDGEMOTORS
      @EDGEMOTORS  8 років тому +2

      I have seen them fail as early as 60k miles, and have seen cars with 300k miles never had one done... it looks to me that very short trips without warming engine up all the way is the key to the failures....those early failure cars would only get couple of miles a day... and the high mileage cars would do about 30-100 miles per start...
