Crochet for Knitters - Alternate Stitch

- In this Crochet for Knitters video, I show you how to work the Alternate Stitch as a dishcloth. This stitch is pretty and really fun to work! Info below on how to try it out as a dishcloth, and if you end up loving the stitch, you can easily work it into a whole blanket or throw.
Instructions for working this stitch:
Chain a multiple of 2, plus 2
Row 1: skip 3 chain stitches, 2 single crochets in next chain, *skip 1 chain, 2 single crochets in next chain*, repeat between *s to end of row, chain 2, turn work.
Row 2: skip 2 chain stitches, *skip 1 stitch, 2 single crochets in next stitch*, chain 2, turn work.
Repeat Row 2 to desired length

In the striped dishcloth I made, I used Knit Picks Comfy Worsted in colors Planetarium and White. I used a size H crochet hook, and a starting chain of 26 (24 + 2). Worsted-weight dishcloths will use about 20 grams of yarn.

The purple crochet hook I used, size H, is made by Boye.
The yarn I used in the pink sample is Knit Picks Wool of the Andes Bulky, crochet hook size J, and I chained 16 stitches.

Staci, I cannot praise you too highly for adding text to your videos. People with hearing issues will now be able to learn from you! Kudos for providing text, which we can *all* use -- *especially* when we need to mute the sound in a library or other public place.

I was wondering if you thought about a tutorial on weaving in ends for crochet. I have your ends video for knitting saved and always go back to it if I'm stuck but I have no earthly idea how to finish up a crochet project.

im sorry....i didnt mean that u didnt demonstrate the stitch correctly....i was just confused,since u skipped 3 in 1st row,i thought u should chain 3 to meet the height of the stitch as we do with double crochet....
but i believe doing it as u demonstrated ull actually be working 2 sc in the chains u skipped in 1st row,hence the name alternate stitch,am i correct???

so y didnt u chain 3 on the second row....instead u chained 2.....since u skipped 3 stitches in the very 1st row ,shouldnt u be chaining 3????!!!!
lee121100 - no, I demonstrate it correctly. Chaining two and skipping three is correct. Please see the written instructions for the pattern in the video description field, just below the video.
