I run into the same problem with wrists about the size of yours, so a lot of watches that I love design are just too big to fit well. However, the Oriental Star is so beautiful, I might just have to give it a shot since most of my nicer watches are exceptionally thin.
Yes it looks good but dress watches are slimmer i guess, i am not sure buying this model or not, because of the same reason, thickness. Out of these matters this watch is affordable, nice and elegant.
That's how I feel about this watch too. I had the one with gold indices and sold it mostly because of the thickness and I also didn't like the highly domed boxed crystal. Wish they made it like on the hamilton intra matic. Slightly domed towards the center and sapphire. I'd also prefer flat dial instead of domed. The overall thickness should not exceed 10mm imo. The thikness of 13.3 is dive watch dimension really and does not suit this style of watch.
Yeah i'm not buying it only because of the same problem. It's thick. And the mineral crystal. Also it's domed... But if it was sapphire and it was flat I would definitely buy this piece. I just can't find a beautiful white dial dress watch that has the design, specs and fair price at the same time. I'm so pissed off right now.
But this classic white face dial, with dauphene hands doesn't come with sapphire crystal. You're talking about the other style like open heart that comes with with sapphire crystal but looks quite ugly to me
@@paldo771 nope. We're talking about the same Orient Star Classic. The ones with RK serial numbers with sapphire crystal are JDMs while the SAF, AF, SEL have mineral crystals are their exports and the ones we get. Japan usually reserve their good stuff for themselves, hence JDMs. Here's a link watchdirect.com.au/orient-star-classic-automatic-japan-made-rk-af0005s-mens-wacth.html

for OS classic. my opinion is that the white gold dial look and white blue dial versions are the best looking. the white silver and black silver looks very plain and boring
Selling this watch is a horrible decision, even if you don't wear it. Orient is building their legacy now. If this was an Omega, it would be $3k. This is an important for a well rounded collection. It has horological pedigree. It's also badass and beautiful. It's fantastic. It may be worth much more someday. Would never sell mine.
@@silverghost4206 I have the blue hands one as well. It's so cool. You're gonna love it. First thing I did was take it off that metal bracelet and put it on a nice german blue suede strap. It's amazing.

Got to admit, these movements in OS keeps better time than Seiko 6r movements. So good.

I can see what you mean about the thickness. But still, looks really good on your wrist.
Thanks! It is an excellent piece. I sold it some time ago. The thickness was one of the few factors that caused me to let it go.

I wish i could afford to buy your beautiful watch. great commentary
Thank you!
It's only a few a hundred dollar. Save for a month.
I bet if you had bought the blue hand pearl dial version you would have kept it despite the size.
Hi Rob, no. The only one I would have kept is the black dial on the steel bracelet 😃
Why couldn't Orient put a Saphire crystal on this baby like other Orient Star..
I agree. That would be amazing. Sapphire gives me so much peace of mind 😁
They did. The reference number starts with RK rather than SAF, AF, or SEL. They cost above $500

That is the beauty of the line up. There is a version for everyone ⌚️😁
Does anyone know why orient and the other Japanese watchmakers make almost only thick watches? It makes no sense to me...
I guess the affordable automatic movements they use are already quite thick...
Ps this watch case is not that thick. A significant portion of the thickness is due to the domed mineral crystal.
The Orient Howard is 12mm thick still too much? The display back adds some extra. thickness.
