Today I am sharing another personal video. This is the second part of my labor and delivery story and it's how I found out I had a brain tumor after the delivery of my son. I have mentioned in other videos that I have had some bigger health issues going on and this is what I was referring to. I filmed this video before I had surgery but edited and am posting it after having had my surgery. I'm now home and on the road to recovery, so please do not worry about me. I'm going to be ok. Oh wow that's such a shocker to have dropped on you! I'm very sorry. How terrifying. We've had some neurological shit happen in my family - we've had two traumatic brain incidents (concussions) with my mum in thr last year or so, and my brother survived a germanoma brain tumor in high school, the effects of which still follow him. I sure hope that long term you heal up quickly and feel back to normal. Short term, of course, is just survival and getting through the healing process. Sending you all the love and healing vibes. Taking care of a newborn baby by itself is so tough. I can't even imagine having to deal with such serious health problems at the same time. I really admire your strength. I hope your recovery is going well!

I'm glad the surgery went well and you are recovering now! I know every situation is different, but my mom had a meningioma too. Hers was also VERY large. But she is now 5 years out from surgery and she is doing amazing, there are so many things that have gotten better that she didnt even know were because of the tumor! So I pray that you have a similar experience and that you heal quickly and can enjoy your new baby!!

I suppose you're still in recovery at this point. You've clearly survived and are well enough to edit videos. So I'm glad you're doing well. I have kids, so I know how demanding taking care of an infant is; if you can't do much, that must be difficult in its own way. I hope that this extra time at home with your son is a blessing to you both.

Wow. Yes, not an easy video to do...especially a week before your surgery. We are so thankful that all went well. Both Marie and I teared up during this video...knowing the unknown lingering in the near future. But, you were never out of our thoughts.
Okay, this is a Wheel of Time reference, and I hope it doesn't come off glib or irreverent, but you have an understanding for Mat's character...with all his holes in his memory. Sorry that THAT is what I thought of, but you know me...Wheel of Time is on my brain all the time. We hope in time, things will find their way to reconnect and repair. The human body is an incredible organism.
I think the expectation of the surgery had to have been so difficult. We were thinking about you. You were not alone.
We are glad that you're back and we await your first post-surgery video with bated breath. Take your time, but know that you are missed. The BookTube community misses you (at least Marie and I do) and I expect SO many others.

BTW - about the hearing loss...have you seen the effects of that in that ear...and since the surgery...(if there was hearing loss) have you noticed improvement? Just wondering.
i'm so sorry to hear this.. I remember a while back, maybe a few years ago you were complaining about double vision and got a prism in your glasses to help with double vision, do they think that could have been triggered by the tumor? I wish you all the best in your recovery.

Oof…. Wow. What a wild year you’ve had. I wish I could just give you the biggest hug right now. Im SOOOO glad you’re doing well after your surgery. And I’m so happy you’ve got your family and friends around you to help you during this time. You’re so freaking strong and I have a feeling you’re going to recover quickly and be back doing everything you love really soon. I’m always thinking of you as if we were friends haha but I just want the very best for you and I’m glad they caught this now and not later when it could have been worse or more difficult.

You can start to be healthy again, my dear. Things tend to happen for a reason, otherwise you wouldn't be able to cope with this upside down world.
It would be doubly hard because when you have your first baby, you feel so vulnerable and emotional even if everything goes perfectly (at least that's how I felt).

Wow, Jade! You are incredibly strong to have gotten through these past few months. I’m so sorry that your birth and post partum experience is not what it should have been because of this but I’m so glad you and your son are OK. It’s hard enough to be a mom to a newborn without also dealing with your own medical crisis. I’m sure recovery will be extremely difficult but you’ve got this. I’ll keep you in my thoughts.

Very sorry to listen to your health issues. I'm glad to hear you were able to give birth to your son. I also had brain surgery (resection they call it.) I had Pilocytic Astrocytoma (a.k.a grade 1 Astrocytoma) at age 37, which is quite rare for someone my age. That type of tumor is most often diagnosed in teenagers. After the resection I had advanced expressive aphasia for a few weeks. You could talk to me, and I'd understand ever word you said but within 15-20 seconds it would just evaporate from my brain and I wouldn't remember what you JUST said.
Hi Jade, I am glad you've come through 🙏🏻 Best wishes on your recovery. I did go through something similar in 2014, I had symptoms like dizziness that got worse until it was discovered I had a huge schwanoma tumor in my hearing nerve. I had surgery, thank god it was benign and after some 4 months I had recovered from the major issues I was left with: coordination and strength for walking. I did loose my hearing on the left side and I have a long standing Bell Palsey, which improved some but years later I still have issues with my eye. Just this year I had 2 surgeries on my eyelid because of complications with the weight I had as an implant, and I'm a few weeks away from another head surgery 😞 I have a titanium mesh on the spot of the surgery, and 7 years after it started to give me trouble, and it was discovered it is infected and it has to be removed. I'm glad it will be so much simpler than the other surgery, but you can imagine after going through what you just did: we don't want head surgery ever again 😄 But I'm living one day at a time, dealing with the fears. My doctor tells me it should take 1h 🙏🏻 No ICU may be needed, and then it's just some weeks of antibiotics which I may have to be in hospital to take, or maybe at home. I'm hoping for that, but mostly I'll just be glad to be done with it before the year is over. Waiting almost 3 months has been so stressful, I can't really enjoy anything with that weight on me. Sorry for the big comment 😉 just want to let you know I've been where you are now and that you'll be fine 😊💕 Just believe in your amazing resourceful body, and trust physiotherapy 🙏🏻 It put me back on my feet literally.

You are sooo lucky that ur facial nerves weren't damaged permanently and healed! Thank God it's benign.. No one knows they have a BT until something terrible happens :(

Oh man Jade, I know there's not really words to say that will make any of this better, but my heart just hurts for you and I am so so glad you made it through the surgery OK, and I know all of us are cheering for you. Having a newborn is hard enough, but this on top of it? Life just threw you the hardest curveball it could. I imagine there's still a lot of shock because this all happened so fast, but I really do think you are handling this with a lot of grace and strength, and someday your son is going to brag about how amazing and badass his mother is. I don't know whether it was a blessing or a curse that they discovered the tumor this way, but at least now it's done and overwith and I hope your path to recovery isn't full of hardship. Hello Jade, Thank you for sharing and talking about this subject openly. I have a relative that has been going through chemo treatment for a brain tumor and is a young mother. It is a scary sudden thing but everyone in family and friends is doing what they can to marshal around them and do what they can to help. I hope your family and friends circle do the same for you so you have any and all support you need. Take care and hope your holidays are as peaceful and restful as possible.
