  • 🌟 OPEN ME! 🌟
Today I am sharing my labor and delivery story. It's taken me awhile to share this with you because my delivery had a lot of complications, including preeclampsia and something called HELLP syndrome. I also had some crazy stuff happen after the delivery of my son, which I will be sharing about in a part two/follow up video to this one. I don't share this story to scare anyone who is pregnant - what I went through is definitely rare. If you or someone you know has experienced HELLP syndrome, I hope my video helps you to feel a little less alone 💕
Also to be clear, I filmed this video before I had my major medical procedure in early November that I am still recovering from 😊

Labor/delivery rarely ever goes as planned, it feels like, but I'm just so happy that you both made it through okay. My sister had preeclampsia/HELLP at 27 weeks and had to have an emergency C-Section, and thankfully her daughter is now a sassy 10 year old doing fantastic, but at the time it was so, so scary. I wish it had been the experience you hoped for, but I think it's fantastic you're sharing it so that others who go through the same don't feel so alone. I think it's 100% valid to mourn not having that ideal birth scenario, but you seem to have handled it really well.

OMG that is so much scarier because of how early on in the pregnancy your sister was. I'm so glad everything worked out in the end and your niece is doing well. ❤❤❤

I also had preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome with my first son. Unfortunately, I developed it at 22 weeks pregnant and I lost the baby and my health was definitely in danger. They were watching me for a stroke, my bp was thru the roof and I swelled everywhere. My urine was also full of protein and ended up bedridden and on a magnesium drip. I’m so thankful your baby boy is ok and you were there at the hospital. It can be so scary! Hugs!

Found you via Worldhoppers. Delivery seems like it never goes the way you want it! With my son, my water broke but I never dilated. I was put on pitocin and also tied to the bed. They gave me 24 hours to progress until threat of infection would force a c section. I was on pitocin and having intense contractions for hours and hours so at 26 hours they finally decided to get him out. I was so exhausted that I was practically comatose when he was delivered. I also have so many holes in my memory and it made me so sad but I will say, almost 12 years later, it doesn’t matter in the least. You forget all the pain and sadness and just feel the joy of having a healthy baby. Thanks for sharing your story and for the pictures, he’s such a cute baby!!

I am so glad you made it through preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. I lost a friend to it, so any awareness brought to HELLPs it’s so important!

Thank you so much for sharing your story. Your ectopic story time was one of the videos that really settled me during my own ectopic experience. I’m now 29 weeks and appreciate you continuing to share about your own experiences.
Did your doctor prescribe aspirin during your pregnancy?

Congrats on your rainbow baby! Yes, I was on baby aspirin since about 12 weeks along because i had some high blood pressure readings then too so we did the baby aspirin just to be safe.

Birth, in general, is hard and traumatic for sure! I plan on having no more kids but I love birth stories for some reason. I feel like L&D is never what we plan for some reason! My sister had preeclampsia and that is definitely nothing to play around with, i remember it can be so scary
I had to have a C-section with my oldest and a VBAC with my youngest and it was quite an experience for sure.

8 lbs is a huge baby for you! Frustrating how everything went, but glad your team was a good one, and VERY glad you were at the hospital for it. Also, Sush & I are amused by the term "sunny side up", which we've never heard in this context. 😁

Labor/delivery is so tricky. Yours sounds so similar to one of my friends stories except it seems like you picked a way way better team. I’m so happy that you have a healthy baby. I love that you talk about this type of things. Glad you both are doing ok! Love seeing your pretty face on the UA-cam again

Oh my goodness! Sending all the love! It’s so hard having all the expectations not work out, even if we try our best to be flexible! I had a very similar experience. I also wanted an unmedicated birth and set myself up well for it, but I ended up with severe preeclampsia at 35 weeks, had a 3 day failed induction where something went wrong at every step and ended up having an emergent csection with complications during surgery. I was also grateful to my midwives and I know we made the best decisions we could at the time, but wow it was quite an experience and traumatic. I hope you can get the help you need to start getting better (I know HELLP and pre-e can cause so many problems) and hope you and your baby are doing well and enjoying the snuggles 💕

That IS a really similar experience! Yes, I'm enjoying lots of baby snuggles, ALMOST makes the sleep deprivation worth it haha.

I'm so sorry for everything you went through, all of this plus what happened before this pregnancy. I can only begin to imagine, even if it didn't feel traumatic to you, how scary it still must have been at times, when things were so uncertain for you and the baby. Very glad that you have him with you now 💜

This is an incredible story. Thank you Jade for sharing this with us. We are happy that you and your son got through this experience.
Thank goodness you planned for possible alternate options to be taken down the road.
This will no doubt help other Moms to be...to know some of the possible risks, but also know that they have a voice and guide thier experience to the best possible outcome.
All in all, we are so happy that you are as well as you are...and are looking forward to your next video.
About the outro...keep reading could be related to all the possible outcomes and preparing yourself while you are/were pregnant. It still works.
