    Great video. This was extremely helpful regarding the same author(s) (I recently had a paper that two sources with the same two authors in the same year, and a third source in the same year with the same two authors and one additional -it was a niche topic-).
    Anyway, I got it totally wrong, at least with the third source the et al., probably saved me somewhat..... But, this is the first time I have experienced this. It's not something that every occurred to me as a potential issue before.

    After I’m finishing reading a passage, and I write how I understand the story in my own words. I do add in-text citation every few end of the sentences. But my problem is my instructor says I’m doing it wrong, she wants me to place in-txt citations on every end of the sentence. Btw: she’s not an English instructor. But I assume she knows. Maybe Im the problem. I’m watching your channel, I understand. But I’m hearing different, help. Thank you.

    How would you cite an author who is citing someone else's work?

    • @smartstudent_official
      @smartstudent_official  3 роки тому

      Hi there! You would cite the author who is writing the content you're using. You can include in your paper that what is being said was originally said by someone else. But think of it like this... the purpose of a citation is so that the reader can look up the source. If you cite the original author (not the author who's writing about it now) the reader wouldn't be able to find the source you're actually referencing. Does that make sense? Good luck to you!

    I want to know : if I italicized source name and normalise the title name , is it necessary to follow the same order in all of the references.
    Or can we just do the vice versa in some of the references i.e. italic title name and normal source name ?

    • @smartstudent_official
      @smartstudent_official  3 роки тому

      Hi there! Thank you for watching and supporting this channel. So when to and when not to italicize in your reference list entries are determined by what type of reference it is. Here's a video that explains this! It is explained in the "formatting" section ua-cam.com/video/DWVOU9VZqyI/v-deo.html

    In the event that I have 2 citations with different dates But 2 authors in the first and the same 2 authors in the second fold another author (3 authors). how can I put them all in the parenthesis?🤔

    • @smartstudent_official
      @smartstudent_official  3 роки тому

      Hey there! So if I understand you correctly you have two citations. They each have different dates, contain two of the same authors, and one has a third different author?
      You would create the citation with two authors listing out their names traditionally. The second citation you would list out the first author and use the abbreviation “et al.” Meaning and others. Anytime there’s more than two authors, you would use et al. In the name portion

      @@michelangebradleymami6591 Ahh, I gotcha! So go ahead and go back to 9:10 of this video. It demonstrates what to do when you're citing more than one study at a time.

    How would you cite a UA-cam video both in text and in the references?

    • @smartstudent_official
      @smartstudent_official  3 роки тому

      Yes, you would create a reference list entry and an in-text citation for a UA-cam video. For example, if you were citing this video it would be
      Seburn, C. [Smart Student]. (2020. December 13). In-text citations made easy: APA 7th edition format [Video]. UA-cam. ua-cam.com/video/RWZCXPoBo-k/v-deo.html
      The title would be italicized though
      In-text would be (Seburn, 2020).
