Chelsea, I'm new to learning APA, I'm 53 yrs old and decided to get back in school after being out of school for many years. I am right there with you! Same age group. Same scenario. I’m finding myself spending way too much time trying to figure out HOW to cite sources, time I should be spending completing the actual assignment. Paraphrasing can be tough but with a little practice, you can master it! Let me know if you have any questions.
One way I do it is read a passage, internalize get the meaning and re write in my own words, that's how I have helped some students reduce plagiarism percentage to less than 10% on Turnitin
Hi Chelsea, I'm new in this field and in my own opinion your explanation is the best among other videos. I would like to ask what if i'm going to paraphrase everything to avoid in-text citation am I still required to mention the author of that idea within the paragraph or i will just add it in my reference list. I don't have time to just read and then go back to the article to pull out and paraphrase. Too many readings, too little time between assignments. Any tips on how to do this effectively and quickly?

Yeah, I wish they showed us how to summarize or paraphrase in school. It was so rarely done. We didn't get to practice it very often, even if students never wanted to. Either way, I suck at paraphrasing stuff I have no idea about. Also, it is hard to fully understand what I want to paraphrase because I usually do not care about it.
IMHO: As there can be just one original idea and therefore source, every other version of it through semantic jugglery still amounts to plagiarism. It would also mean that citing a source other than the original would amount to undeserved credit being given.

Why would you cite if you are having 0% plagiarism after paraphrasing? Or is it compulsory to cite? What if you read 2-3 papers on similar idea and you summaries all of them at a time?
Because you are still paraphrasing work that came from a different source, meaning the ideas presented are not your original ideas. You need to create a citation for everything you find in other sources
