Received the adapter today. Works with everything I have tried so far. Even the most difficult lens for adapters canon 22-55mm 4-5.6 usm works without any issue. Even the sigma lenses work better on the viltrox than on the sigma mc21. Some of them even don't want to get in and out in the mc21 easily. The plastic fantastic canon 50mm 1.8 mark 2 doesn't focus with the mc21 and works fine with the viltrox!
The only problem so far is that it turns of the sensor if no lens attached - this means you should put tape on the connectors if you want to use adapted manual lens or just lens without contacts on ef mount @@DamianBrown
Great review. I recently added the S5 to my kit. Can't put my finger on it.....there's something about the sensor, the rendering is fabulous considering it's a 'budget' ff mirrorless. Getting a lot out of adapted lenses, especially old ones.
I'm absolutely loving the camera, and yes the price was brilliant. I got it with a 50mm for 1099, amazingly, and bought the 85mm soon after. I'm testing the Sigma lenses and loving them too. It's giving my Fujifilm X-T4 a few nervous moments that's for sure.
When shooting with your Canon 200 mm, I can see your data read out is overlapping the image in the bottom of the EVF. How did you manage to do that? I´ve been trying to change this setting in "LVF/Monitor Disp Set", but this setting has no effect and the black bar at the bottom remains...
If Viltrox starts selling M-42 adapters to Fuji X, they'll cash in..(I know, they don't cost much) But fotodiox has been out of them for quite a while. Vintage is cooking!
Thank you for this video ! I bought a MC-21 adaptater for my 70-200 Canon EF to my Lumix S5 but it doesn't work. I think that works only with Sigma. But do you know if Viltroks works to connect my 70-200 Canon EF to my Lumix S5 ? I guess it's works because you use it with your 200 Canon EF, but i prefer to ask before buying now !
I haven't tried it so can't say for sure but like you I would guess it does based only 200mm experience. Doesn't help you much I know. Anybody else reading this tried the combo??
Hi, nice and useful video. I own a Canon T100 camera and I have Minolta digital lenses. What is the appropriate adapter for the camera to use the lens?
@@alexjlouie O is meant to be 'original' lens mode hence the o and A is adapter mode. But so far O mode doesnt do anything and actually stops it auto focusing. Its such a shame afc isnt an option at the moment on it. Surely they can do something with the adapters firmware to enable it 🤔
I haven't tried the commlite, I guess all these things will look very similar as there's only so much you can do to change the design. The tripod feet look different but seem to offer the same funcionality in fairness, the CM looks easier to remove and reinstall though.
I haven't. I'm supposed to be getting an updated version of this adapter too. Let's see if I can get hold of the lens to try on both or if somebody reading this has experience.

Thanks for letting us know about the MC21! That is VERY interesting!!!

@@DamianBrown you have use the af-c mode?
The viltrox is times faster than the mc21 and the focus is incomparably consistent
Definitely needed to hear this!

The adapter puts the camera in sosc mode while using it?

Definitely, love vintage lenses with the Fujifilm cameras!

There are two types of firmware, one for sigma which is of lower cost. The other for EF at few times the cost. See sigma mc21 firmware download.

Possibly this one amzn.to/3RY3H8r
Great videos! I heard from someone else that if it is swithed to "O" mode, the supported lenses, such as 200 F2.8 II, can use AFC. Is that ture?
Could you explain what "O" mode is?
Not true in my experience

Does this work with sigma ef lenses?
I've only been able to try Canon but I'm told the answer is yes.
what is the difference between viltrox and commlite adapter? they looks the same

Will it work with the VC from tamron lenses?
Haven't tried those yet but I would guess it would
Why this instead of the Sigma MC-21? and those images are amazing btw =D
Haven't had my hands on that one yet!
It's cheaper.
Sigma MC21 for EF is US250. For sigma lens, it is US100 only. Many people bought the wrong type.
Have you tested with a. 24-70? How are the results?
I haven't. I'm supposed to be getting an updated version of this adapter too. Let's see if I can get hold of the lens to try on both or if somebody reading this has experience.
will it work with the S5 II new AF in video?
I imagine it will but I've yet to see for sure
That music sounds like they like zappa
You could be right!!
