In less than 10 hours this 777 said hello to the Pacific, crossed the entirety of the United States and then the entire North Atlantic into Europe. We take it for granted but it’s pretty amazing.

Having done a Fear of Flying day, this point in take-off is one of my 'all is going well' moments, even though I dislike the drop of the nose. Cabin crew release next.
The boiling temp of water is lowered in a vacuum so I think the water is evaporating in front of the intake. Condensation would occur when the water vapor is compressed, the heat energy in the water is given off and the vapor goes from gas to liquid.

That's funny. When I was going to airplane mechanic school down in Inglewood ca, I would go down the road to L A X and watch the the planes take off and land. Talk about loud!!!
I'm also addicted to Flightradar24...when I wake up in the middle of then night I watch the trail of FedEx planes making approaches to Memphis...like a swarm of bees coming back into a hive!!

F'ing magnificent! The Triple 7 is an amazing Aircraft! The sound of those engines is overwhelming. They're so strong, so imposing and yet very reassuring to me. I've always felt safe on a Triple 7. Business and first classes are superb. Especially on British Airways and American.
Great work!!!! What an outstanding original idea to place live ATC conversation with the view outside a passenger’s window. I’ve been watching the moist air condense inside the inlet cowls of “heavies” as they power up for takeoff departing runway two-four left at the Los Angeles International airport for 20+ years. The triple-7 is impressive, even more striking are the 4 engine heavies (747s, 380s & few others). It is such an imposing sight to be holding between the runways looking down the throat of those massive high bypass turbojet engines and get to see the air inside the inlets swiftly go IFR as the engines accelerate to takeoff thrust. Thank you for “catching” this and sharing it with the world! Thank you!

One of my favorite things to do is put this on my phone in my car / blue tooth paired to the car stereo which is a Boise sound system. And listen to it while driving down the highway. Talk about a pretty cool experience.
@@aussiemark01 No, it's do not exceed 250 below 10,000. Often one has to throttle back at LAX before receiving additional climb instructions as to not bust the speed limit.
I remember flying out of Orange County, the pilot was explaining to us what he had to do because of the noise ordinances. The steep takeoff, then leveling off, cutting the engine power in half, then floating out into the ocean before turning around and continuing the ascent. Thank God the pilot told us because i would have totally freaked out. But also kind of cool to see what the plane can do.

TheLightningII Actually the 777-200ER is a very unique aircraft. It can be equip with three different types of engines. The GE, PW4000, or the Rolls Royce Trent 800 engines. However Sandsculptor is correct in this video as the engines equip on this 777-200ER are indeed the GE’s.
@@pblount340 My apologies. I saw the straight blades and assumed they were the P&Ws. I didn't know the GE90-94b had straight blades as the -115 has curved blades.
Notice how the wing is straight when the aircraft is on the ground 2:30 but when it rotates to the angle of attack for liftoff at 4:30 the lift produced by the wing bends the wing tips upward. A cool demonstration of how, when at rest, the fuselage supports the wings, but in the air, the wings support the fuselage.

You're right...and I don't want to be a nerd here.....but the engines don't lift anything...they only provide forward thrust. They don't have the ability to lift heavy objects off the ground...only move them in a forward direction. The real miracle of lift is provided by the shape of the wings......arguably a greater invention than the jet engine itself.
Rod Bruce I have the exact same thinking. I have said to people “it is the fixed wings that makes you fly” and then saying I’m emphasizing that if forward momentum is included in the physics, as long as the plane is pitched aerodynamically, lift will be there. It’s just a matter of thinking about the basics of the engines are there to provide the air speed. The air speed applied to the physical properties of the fixed wing aircraft gives you flight. I like the idea of if you want the plane to stop losing altitude, then point it to down! It is nuts that trained commercial pilots have killed hundreds in modern massive jets by pulling up for the entire tens of thousands of feet of sky that they have plummeted from the heavens in a simple stall and belly flopped to death. Tragic. That’s why even though I don’t fly, I think it is good to “think “ in the terms that you pointed out, and I piggybacked.

Another analogy you can use is... you can’t lift a car however you can push it (even jump start it). The wings and the body create the lift inducing asymmetrical pressure called aero foil (check it- Venturi Effect). And yes the engines provide thrust thus forward motion. Take care guys 👍🏻

That "Buzzzzzzzzzzz" sound from the engine is the fan blade tips exceeding the speed of sound, with the noise primarily heard at max power settings on takeoff while the aircraft is still in the thicker, lower part of the Earth's atmosphere. However, great video! I flew a 777 JFK to Rome and back in 2018 for summer vacation. Magnificent aircraft.

There is the Hyperion Sewage Plant in the background on the beach that I used to work @ many years ago, back in the middle to late 60's. I saw the first 747 take to the air back in early 1970 from LAX. It was a sight I will never forget.

Actually it's "Schiphol", translating as "ship hole". Back when, SW winds of strong storms would deposit ships' carcasses there. Told to me by Dutchman co-worker.

was once on a flight from DBN to JHB in south africa, having flown with KLM all my life i decided on a short hop with SAL (Suid Afrikaanse Lugdiens)... at altitude cabin pressure fell , and the plane started to rock like a wild horse....some passengers had bleeding ears and noses.... i wont lie, we did say our prayers that morning.... luckily we landed safely, but after that I never enjoyed flying again.....and to this day I will avoid anything with wings.....that was 30 years ago...

Fascinating ! No matter how many people take all this for granted.... flying in these huge contraptions remains not short of a miracle.....even though the countless times it went wrong...this is one of the safests ways of traveling....
Typical 135 mph to 170 mph average on landing, depending on weather crosswinds, wind shear downdrafts on approach. ( Which can accelerate a descending aircraft.)

The reason the fans buzz on modern turbofan engines is that, at max power, the tips of the fan blades exceed the speed of sound. The reason clouds form at the fan inlet is that, again at max power, when the surrounding air is stationary, they create a void region of low pressure, causing rapid condensation of water vapor, as they suck more air per second than is in a typical 4-room house. 👍

That "Buzzzzzzzzzzz" sound from the engine is the fan blade tips exceeding the speed of sound, with the noise primarily heard at max power settings on takeoff while the aircraft is still in the thicker, lower part of the Earth's atmosphere. However, great video! I flew a 777 JFK to Rome and back in 2018 for summer vacation. Magnificent aircraft.

There is the Hyperion Sewage Plant in the background on the beach that I used to work @ many years ago, back in the middle to late 60's. I saw the first 747 take to the air back in early 1970 from LAX. It was a sight I will never forget.
Those engines are powerful. It held a rather steep take off rate for several thousand feet.
And it did that while weighing more than half a million lbs

Actually it's "Schiphol", translating as "ship hole". Back when, SW winds of strong storms would deposit ships' carcasses there. Told to me by Dutchman co-worker.

Civil aviation has come such a long way in 62 years since the 707's in technology and materials. These machines are miracles of modern science.

was once on a flight from DBN to JHB in south africa, having flown with KLM all my life i decided on a short hop with SAL (Suid Afrikaanse Lugdiens)... at altitude cabin pressure fell , and the plane started to rock like a wild horse....some passengers had bleeding ears and noses.... i wont lie, we did say our prayers that morning.... luckily we landed safely, but after that I never enjoyed flying again.....and to this day I will avoid anything with wings.....that was 30 years ago...

Randy Hatumena 777 is and always will be a classic. 787 is still very clean and modern. I’ve flown both but prefer the loud power of the 777 engines

It's just changing the thrust setting from FLX to CLB. Basically from FLX (takeoff thrust calculated before each flight) down to climb thrust.

Fascinating ! No matter how many people take all this for granted.... flying in these huge contraptions remains not short of a miracle.....even though the countless times it went wrong...this is one of the safests ways of traveling....

This gives you a great indication on how fast jets are actually going when they land, and how much it takes to slow them down.
Typical 135 mph to 170 mph average on landing, depending on weather crosswinds, wind shear downdrafts on approach. ( Which can accelerate a descending aircraft.)
