    These became hoopties pretty quick. With failed air suspensions making them bounce around on rough pavement.
    I remember the sweet jazz music from the commercials, and the prominent role a black Navi played in Crash, which was an awesome movie

    Worked at a 5 star hotel, we had one of these as our "courtesy car" circa 2006 or so. The black/black looked pretty flash and man did that air suspension ride nice. It was quiet as a tomb, felt tight, didn't rattle. That being said the interior didn't wear all that well, after 2-3 years and 20,000 hard miles the driver's seat foam had collapsed, the silver paint was wearing off on a few interior bits, the power tailgate was busted, the overall interior just looked more worn than it should have considering it was still pretty new and a supposedly better built "luxury" vehicle.

    These things are pretty much doubled in price now. The Navigator Black Label is well over $100,000 not including markups.

    Having the navigator with only 4 speed automatic in 2003 was definitely old technology. Especially when you are paying a luxury suv price tag.
    The Lincoln Navigator vehicle had a crazy depreciation rate. Due to the air suspension problem, it was the same technology that was shared with the Lincoln continental.

      This came out in May 2002, when plenty of cars still had 4ATs and 5SP auto was still considered newish. Only BMW's new E65 7-Series had a 6-Speed auto in the spring of 2002.

    • @ubiased23
      @ubiased23 Рік тому +1

      @JMI N not really, the acura TL had 5 speed automatic. Let's not forget about Lexus LS400, and GS400 had 5 speed automatic as well. Also, most of the German vehicles have 5 speed auto.
      I totally agree with you about the 5 speed auto was relatively new. However, when you pay a premium price then you expect premium tech.

    I'm about to buy one of these, they depreciated more than the same year Escaldes (and of course "better" competitors like the Toyota Sequoia / Landcruiser / LX), etc. I was surprised at the price differential between the large 3-row SUVs. I always liked the styling of these 2nd gen Navigators, esp. the interior, it was nice. From what I've researched, the 2003 with the InTech 32V 5.4L V8 is the one to get. The Triton 24V (aka "3V") are the problematic ones (2004+), while the earlier 16V (aka "2V") 1999-2002 were OK as well, but you get the older Gen 1 body.

    • @tylerwilkey13
      @tylerwilkey13 Рік тому +3

      The 2004 is also a 32v engine. For this generation 03-04 have the 32v and 05-06 the 24v.

    The earlier days of the 2003-2006 Navigators were just beautiful inside and out I prefer them to even todays. In those days I had a 2003 Explorer Limited V8 and loved it, too. Unfortunately these SUV's fell apart very quickly. Cheaply put together. The plastic around the seats would fall off, leather splits, electronics don't work etc etc. However, Something about the way it's designed inside I think. Seems posh, elegant, classy. I had a 2013 Navigator Ultimate Edition and loved it. Black with the saddle leather interior etc. I still preferred the 03-06 style over this but I wasn't going to buy one as they are dated and aged now and good luck finding something that old that isn't clapped out.

      I drive an 05 Explorer Limited with the 4.6 V8 and everything has held up pretty well, even with 220,000 miles it looks like a 10 year old vehicle at most condition-wise.
