Now "Spare Parts" has a pair of spare sunglasses in the cockpit... you never know what you might find during inspection. What's something more interesting have you found?

Just like buying a used car: sunglasses, CDs, and McDs French fries of unknown age, no telling what you'll find in the nooks and crannies.

A 182 I fly had the elevator trim get stuck with a whole lot of "nose up" trim. The old straight tails use a chain and sprockets for the trim system. Turns out a loose machine screw was able to find it's way onto the chain in just the right place to jam the aft sprocket. Simple fix, but what were the odds of that happening?

Nice little bird you have Blair. If you don't have an Endoscope they are so worth the money. ATS (Aviation Tool Supply) had them on sale recently. I like the fact I can pair to my phone and capture pictures.

Thanks! Yes, I have something similar that pairs to my phone as well.

Most parts for these old planes can be found at a few different companies like Wag-Aero and Univair.
Also, with these older planes, a lot of parts can actually be fabricated.
      Good question. Thanks for asking!

Thanks. Good video again. Funny, did the annual on my J3 just a few weeks ago too. Having one little annoyance with the trim indicator slipping through the scale gap again and again. Couldn't see what you had there. Any suggestions?

Nice. Spring is a good time to finish up a fresh annual!
We have had that issue before with the trim. Do you happen to have an opening for the elevator jack screw? A lot of times there’s a small plate for access. If so, you can run it up through the vertical stabilizer.
It’s a good idea to run it all the way up and try to clean it really well and apply new grease.
