Over 50+ years of riding, we have done all those recommended roads. My favorite is still the Black Hills - not just Needles Highway, but all of Custer State Park, Iron Mountain Road, Mt Rushmore, Highway 385 to Deadwood, Nemo Road from Rapid City to north of Nemo, Vanocker Canyon Road between Nemo and Sturgis, Spearfish Canyon in the northern Black Hills. We have spent the last 3 summers riding in that area, based just south of Rapid City - every direction is a great ride.
Good morning Adam glad to see glacier park is on the top 10 my people have roamed that land for centuries that's where our reservation use to till they made it a national park so just moved us over I have picks my grampa was in ww2 after he got home he worked the park clearing snow I have pics from 50s when he was plowing snow
Adam you need to ride Highway 12 between Lolo Montana and Lewiston Idaho it is absolutely beautiful it's about a 175 -mile ride and it's all along the Snake River it's absolutely beautiful
This top 5 is very, very good, but Joseph Highway WY-296 out of Cody, Wyoming up to Highway 212 is one of the most unknown/underrated highways in America. The road is smooth, long sweeping turns that climb up & down the some of the most beautiful mountain passes. Going up & back gives two incredible & yet different views
The Chief Joseph byway is BEAUTIFUL as is Beartooth pass! And I also really enjoy the Bighorn mountain routes...and I agree forwards and backwards are totally different! Gorgeous place!
Yes going to Cooke city, mont. Was one of my favorite trips in my 3 million miles in my semi. Also 2nd in my list is flaming river gorge from wy into utah
@@mojoriden I've only done chief Joseph pass in my semi delivered Polaris snowmobile to Cooke city but I will be doing it on my bike hopefully this summer
I have ridden all five roads: it’s splitting hairs trying to rank them, but, living on the tail end of the Appalachians, love riding those mountains. Still, I think GTSR and Million Dollar highway are outstanding as are numerous other roads in the Rockies. I am 69 years old and am riding as many of the bucket list roads as I can before I kick the proverbial bucket.
I have ridden 4 of them, your right about the road to the Sun in Glacier National Park it’s amazing, but weather can change fast. We rode it in August it was 75 degrees when we started up the road to the sun and 45 and raining when we came down the other side.
Adam, you named some great ones. Sun road is on my list!!! One of my favs is US1 to Key West. Great blue water views, lots of great food stops and a check off corner.
My wife and I rode down to Going to the Sun right before covid hit. And we're so glad we did. I turned off the engine at the top and coasted for 30+ miles! Gorgeous land, and fantastic restaurant at the bottom in West Glacier. Bison and elk burgers. Waiting for the boarders to open up completely again so we can get down into the US again.
For those in the Southeast that want a calm tour, but don't feel they are up to the constant curves and switchbacks of BRP, Cherohala, Moonshiners, Ocoee Gorge, US129, etc... consider the Natchez Trace. Nashville to Natchez and mostly flat, but calm, no commercial traffic, no trucks, 45mph and some beautiful park spots with camping on the trace or hotel cities just a few miles off. Definitely not a breathtaking highway to make the top 5, but an excellent starter tour.
I've been on the Natchez Trace, too. Agree it's a nice peaceful ride. Speed limit is contolled and not much traffic. Also, a lot of historic places to visit along the way. Rode it south to north after leaving Natchez, MS.
I threw my tent on the back, went to Sturgis a few weeks after it ended, did needles and all the others, so many cool things too see there if you take some time, also Glacier, some beautiful country, check the weather the day you go even if it’s August.
If you ever get the chance you should try to hit the tunnel of trees in northern Michigan M119. Only about 30 miles but if you come in the fall with the colors… worth every mile my man
I agree on Tunnel of the Trees. At the end have a drink at Legs Inn, worth the stop. Then prepare your self for the ride over the Mackinaw Bridge. It will be more exhilarating than you think it will be.
I grew up in Farmington, NM and camping and touring the mountains around Silverton, Ouray. Can't beat the experience. You'll have to go back with a side by side and spend a few days on the mountain trails and scenic byway. End of July is the best time to go.
Adam is correct on Needles Hwy but why your doing that also do the Pig Tails. It's just gorgeous riding to and from where your camping/staying at in Sturgis area!
Went to college in Spearfish, SD in the 60s. Didn’t have a car but that didn’t stop us from weekend trips to Deadwood in the middle of winter. Got to know where the black ice would be. Rolled into deadwood one night just as the sheriff was closing the road out of town because of the heavy snow. 1967 I think.
The Going to the Sun road is spectacular. If anyone plans on doing this ride, make sure you head to Kalispell, spend a night or two there and make sure you go to Moose's Saloon. The pizza is really good there.
I’ve only ridden a couple of these - but one of my favorites so far that’s not on the list is 89a from Prescott Az up to Jerome. I’ve never giggled like a kid on a roller coaster while on a bike like I did on that ride!
Beautiful roads have been on the blue ridge parkway myself enjoy the k River videos to it looks awesome keep the videos coming and may scooter forever ride with you in your heart
Done just 3 of the 5. The two left are Going to the Sun and the Blue Ridge Parkway. This year we have plans for GNP so we'll get that one done. Last year my son and I got rained out for our trip to Tennessee but I'll get that one done within a year. ALL GREAT ROADS!
100% agree with you on all.of these roads mentioned Adam there all on bucket list. I will ride all of them before I die. Not trying to anytime soon but you get the point. Great video as usual man.
Hey Adam, as I've told you before, I've traveled across the country multiple times too. I've done all these rides and definitely agree with number one. My number two though would be the Sun Road through Glacier. There's just so many it's extremely hard to choose. Route 12 and 190 through Utah, state 2 through Washington. Following US 2 across country and actually almost all the US routes. Gheesh, I'm just thankful to God that he's given me the health to do all these rides. I'll be on number 13 cross country road trip late spring, early summer, not bad for an almost 74 year old.
Man I agree on the Hwy 12 in Utah...my favorite! West to east - Hwy12 to Torrey to 24 to Hanksville to 95 thru Hite and Fry canyon! I Also really like the north and south routes of the Big Horn mountains and certainly Beartooth Pass and Chief Joseph Byway!
Great roads to ride I was fortunate to ride them 3 times with my 80 year old Fathernlaw the first time he was 78 and the last 2 he was 80. He has passed now but you keep throwing down the miles that is awesome. Utah is beautiful.
Great list. Did Needles 21 years ago, don’t remember paying anything then. September 2021 I did a solo ride from just north of Chicago down to San Felipe, Baja MX. On the way did Million Dollar Highway, it is exhilarating, especially when you stop on the side of the road to take pictures on the loose sloping gravel with shear drops just feet away. The ride that surprised me the most was near your neck of the woods - Talimena Scenic Byway. Maybe not a top five in scenery, but still vey scenic. What impressed me was the great condition of the road, you could ride with decent speed, next to no traffic (I like empty roads) and no stop sign or light for fifty miles. Plan it like I did and take the one place to get off, right in the middle. Spend the night at Gibby’s Biker Camp. You know what good people they are. Continue on the next day.
Chicago to Baja is impressive! Glad to hear you liked talimena byway so much. Hobby’s is definitely a must see motorcycle stop, he’s a great guy. Did you know talimena is in my backyard?! Next time you’re down this way stop at the k river campground!
I was going to Glacier last year, but I didn't jump on it until it was too late. Covid has really screwed up the opportunities to visit National Parks. I went to the North Shore of Lake Superior instead. Still no hotels available, but I got a campsite for $50/ night. Can't wait till the craziness is over and people forget about camping!
Hello Adam, Im from North New Jersey, we have axcess to some of the best roads in the north east, The Catskills, the Adirodacks, The Pocono's in Pa. I can be in West Virgina in 4 hours. I can go on and on. But I have never been any place including the Black Forest as peaceful and serene as our own Blue Ridge Mt highway. Hands down the best area in the U.S .
One problem with Going To The Sun Hwy--when the weather is good, the traffic is always hell with campers, rec vehicles, and the traffic jams are unbelievable. You can smell burning clutches, hot torque converters constantly from the stop-and-go driving all the way up. It is maddening, it takes all the joy out of the climb. Greatest scenery on earth however!
I’ve ridden them all except “Going to the sun road” was still closed when I got there. I would put Needles further down the list on its own but when you add all the other great riding in that area as a whole, it’s up there. Million Dollar highway is great and you can take a left at the top and come back down across lizard head pass and duck into Telluride. Just an outstanding area
I've ridden all the aforementioned roads and couldn't agree more with what Adam said. Saying that FM 170 from Persidio to Terlingua, Texas and the Mt. Washington Auto Road up Mt. Washington in New Hampshire are not to be missed and should be on eveyones list!
I have not done any of the roads you picked but all look amazing. Did ride to Mt. Pocono, Tail of the Dragon, the Ozarks, and all over Eastern Kentucky. My favorite is Kentucky. But after seeing Blue Ridge Parkway I ordered my travel planner there. Definitely this year!
After living in Colorado for 17 years I have to agree the roads in the southern part of the state are spectacular. My favorite riding is still the Black Hills however. At some point the Mrs and I will spend some real time out west again and hopefully ride those beautiful roads once again.
The Cherohala Skyway is an impressive ride. Only about 52 miles, but spectacular views. Starts in Tellico Plains, Tn and ends at Robbinsville, NC. And while you are at the eastern terminus, you might as well turn north on 129 and ride the "Tail of the Dragon", a short but extremely technical ride of 11 miles and 318 turns.
Riding through all 48 states of the lower US is my goal in retirement, iv,e got 38 under my belt so far and have ridden 3 of the 5 roads Adam talks about here. Something he doesn't mention about one of my favorite rides is the proximity of the Tail of the dragon and the Wheels Through Time museum just off of the Blue Ridge Parkway. Along with about a weeks worth of other awsome and challenging routs ie the Devils Drop, the Moonshiner, Back of the Dragon exc.
I just rode from San Fran to Yosemite and rt120 was one of the most beautiful roads I’ve ridden. I’ve done all but the Sun Road in your top 5. I’d have to put 120 coming into Yosemite to Big Oak Flats Rd as one of the best I’ve ever experienced. Absolutely breathtaking ripping through the desert landscape of Knights Ferry and the Red Hills that bring you right to the entrance to the park. This road will bring a tear to your eye with the right weather and company. I had a perfect ride here. One feeling that I hope everyone gets to experience at least once in their life.
Loved Needles Hwy. I want to go during a time other than the rally. At the Needles Eye tunnel you can wait as long as 45 minutes to get through during rally time, especially if you don’t get there until the afternoon. I haven’t ridden the other 4. (Yet). But by the Blue Ridge is the Cherohalla Skyway, which I highly recommend.
I agree Blue ridge parkway is a really good good ride I've lived here my whole life not even 10 minutes from parkway and there's so many roads off the parkway that are just as good
Thank you for sharing, I love the dream rides and the scenery. Also saw scooter loved that boy. Again thank you for sharing. Be safe and keep the shiny side up.
Beartooth pass going from Red Lodge Mt up to the top and then down the other side. You can either take it to Yellowstone or end up in Cody Wy depending on what you are looking for.
Agree with million dollar highway love riding the canyons with my uncle from Colorado. I want to ride the parkway and and some of them around sturgis the first time I ride up there
Adam, I'm sure you've hit just about every hwy there is. Your list of taken your time is spot on.im sure you've been here to. Zion to hwy 12 up through capital reef and down through natural bridges to monument valley and N rim of Grand Canyon is where one gets 1 with their soul
Yeah he did a trip on 12 but he had to trailer thru there in the snow! (he might have gone back again) That is absolutely my favorite riding there (especially going down out of the pass looking on capitol reef! not to mention the Hells Backbone experience......AND lol...fry canyon and Hite area)...goosebumps every time I go...its a euphoric experience!!!
My husband and I rode in the million dollar hwy on his 50th Birthday and was my first year of riding. I wasn’t going to take my bike because of no Guard rails. But I did and was and still is one of the best rides. We do it almost every year.
I lived in Seattle area for 25 years and have been blessed to ride Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Oregon, Nevada, and California. Now I live very near 421 the Snake in Northeast Tennessee. Definitely blessed to have been on many of the roads you mentioned and yes Going to the Sun road and down through bear tooth pass is amazing and so is the blue ridge parkway
We rode Needles two years ago in July. It’s a fun ride but the traffic was nuts: there were a lot of big vehicles (3/4 ton trucks,RVs) that had no business being on that road. It wasn’t quite a parking lot but we did have to get in front of some traffic in order to really enjoy it. I don’t recall paying twenty bucks but I’ll defer to our host on that point.
Amazing for me, I've done 1/1000 of your miles and have been on your top four. Still looking to do the road to the sun. Some car, some bike. Great rides for sure.
Hey Adam, I have road 3 out of the five. Planning on riding the blue ridge parkway end of May. For me, beartooth pass is definitely one of my top three rides. Thanks for the great video.
Have ridden all 5. Agree they are great rides. Good list but lots of rides that did not make the list. Like Natchez Trace, another is the great river road that follows the Mississippi. Keep up the good videos
Couldn't agree more with your list. I've ridden everyone at least once and PCH, Blue Ridge Parkway & Needles Highway multiple times. Being in SoCal, PCH is ridden at least 2-3 times a year between LA & Monterey. I noticed that all your rides are MOF's: Mountain, Ocean & Forest rides, which offer the most stunning landscapes. Another Category might be PDP's: Plateaus, Desert & Plains rides. A few that come to mind are Highway 50 across Nevada between Ely & Fallon. Nevada's Highway 6 in from Tonopah to Ely(the real loneliest road in the lower 48: 168 miles of open spaces crossing multiple mountains & valleys) & Highway 89 from Flagstaff, Arizona to Glacier National Park in Montana. There are great roads all over the world, but we are blessed in America to have such a variety of great roads to ride.
Beartooth Pass is one of my favorites, I do not like riding in the mountains when the guard rails are scarce, so I have avoided Million Dollar Highway. Hogsback on Utah 12 too.
Just wanted to say thanks for the suggestions. I still consider myself as a new rider at 53, (only been riding for going on 5 years now) in 2020 I rode from Chicago to Tampa and had a incident with a car. Well got the first crash out of the way. Managed to get my bike put back together thanks to the great people at The Ride Factory and rode it home. Rode through the Smokies down and back and loved it so much I'm going back this year in May or June, then find my way to the Blueridge Parkway and head north to the Skyline Drive. I've heard these are some beautiful rides and since I'll be headed in that direction I'm going to try to hit Niagara Falls before heading home, that is if finances permit. Just finished getting my VTX put together with some new to me parts and going to see if it will be a little more comfortable this time around. Thanks for the encouragement and thanks for being you. You stubborn Bastard.
Road needles 10 years ago, great time and experience, also a ton of other fantastic roads in the area! We made a week of the area before sturgis and got to enjoy it all without traffic
Thanks for the Blue Ridge Parkway suggestion! I just moved from Colorado to Florida, and will be meeting my buddy from Chicago in Tennessee this year for our annual bike trip. I think we're going to do that for sure! We have spent the last 7 summers straight with him riding out west, and then going all through CO, UT, NV, AZ, NM, CA, WY, etc. Sonora Pass in California was pretty great. Also, can't argue with Utah 12. Colorado 141 is a bit lesser known probably, but it is outstanding.
Yup.... if you're going to the Black Hills, none of the roads are long, but there are so many, and they're all great.
Looks like I've got a lot of riding to do. Those look amazing.
Top 3 places on my bucket list that I want to go.
1. Isle of man tt.
2.sturgies.
3.kriver campground.

Im heading thru there in Sept....been twice and its a GREAT ride!!! Very overlooked!
Iron Mountain Road in the Sturgis area is on par with Needles.

Man I live in Swtitzerland so i'm used to mountains but I'd love to see yours in the US ! Thanks for the advice !
I’m sure a lot of us in the US would absolutely love to ride out your way 💯
I just rode from San Fran to Yosemite and rt120 was one of the most beautiful roads I’ve ridden.
Duuuuuude your channel is the best channel on friggin youtube. I always look forward to your videos
I appreciate that 👊 ill keep em coming
I’ve done the Blue Ridge Parkway many times since we live in East Tennessee 6 months out of the year😎 Love riding in the Black Hills👍🏻
Just did a run up PCH from San Fransisco to Mendocino, amazing riding. Doesn’t really get any better.
If you're in Las Vegas, you should take a ride in the Valley of Fire. It's an hour north of LV. Only a short ride but breath-taking scenery.
Rode both the Blue Ridge Parkway and Needles; they are great roads!! Spearfish canyon is one of my personal favorites!! Enjoy your videos! Ride safe!!
I definitely need to check the rest of these roads one day. Thanks for all the good content. Ride safe brother
Great explanations, lots of colorful insights.
I have rode all the places you named, spot on with all of them
I stayed in Silverton as well! Loved it I'll be back again! From Michigan 🤚🏼
Thanks for tuning in 👊
I’ve ridden 3 of the 5; not mentioned here is one of my favorite. California 49, the Gold Highway.
Beartooth pass going from Red Lodge Mt up to the top and then down the other side. You can either take it to Yellowstone or end up in Cody Wy depending on what you are looking for.
We live in Rapid City, SD and are lucky enough to ride the Black Hills every day. Such a beautiful area and the riding is fantastic.
All of these rides are at least a week long coming from Canada but South Dakota is definitely on my bucket list! Thanks for the awesome video Adam!
My husband and I rode in the million dollar hwy on his 50th Birthday and was my first year of riding. I wasn’t going to take my bike because of no Guard rails. But I did and was and still is one of the best rides. We do it almost every year.
Adam, you really need to come up to the Canadian Rockies too.
I’d be happy to show you some of the best roads in the world.
I’d love to!
Yep, the highway from Calgary to Banff to Jasper is amazing.
It is a great ride at one point when you are traveling through one of many tunnels you look up and see Mt. Rushmore.
Adam, I thought US1 from Maine to Key West was the longest road at 2363 miles. I may be wrong. Be safe, have fun
Longest road within a given state I believe he stated.
He did say that PCH is the longest state highway, I believe.
Beartooth pass and Chief Joseph byway are amazing!!!!
Have ridden all 5. Agree they are great rides. Good list but lots of rides that did not make the list. Like Natchez Trace, another is the great river road that follows the Mississippi.
Keep up the good videos
I did Needles, Iron Mountain Pass
& Spearfish canyon …Devils Tower… Blue Ridge too…. Great roads !!!!
Sorry… I forgot to mention Rt. 1 the “Overseas Highway” through the Florida Keys !!!
I agree with all those choices. The only one I've never ridden was the million dollar highway
I've ridden across the country 3X. Going to the Sun Road was the best IMO.
Looks like awesome rides!
Thanks for weighing in on that 👊
Yup, “life is short, ride your adventure”. No truer words have been spoken. 👍🏼 😎 🇺🇸 🌎
Going to the Sun is on my list for this year. Chief Joseph over Beartooth is an honorable mention.
Some great picks! Brother. I've done Blueridge Prkway,Million $ Hwy,Needles had super fun!
I couldn't agree more.
Thanks for being part of the channel 👊 I’m glad to hear you made it out of your road trip incident
The ride factory!
Road needles 10 years ago, great time and experience, also a ton of other fantastic roads in the area! We made a week of the area before sturgis and got to enjoy it all without traffic
I gotta put PCH on the bucket list.
Sounds like a good way to spend a summer!
Definitely would like to try a couple of these roads. Thank you Adam
