What will happen when an Audi R8 V10 Performance Spyder takes on a Porsche 911 Carrera 4S that’s been tuned? Well, we’re about to find out!
So let’s see how the two compare. Starting with the Audi, it’s powered by a glorious 5.2-litre naturally-aspirated V10 that can produce 620hp and 580Nm of torque. Power is sent to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox, and the car weighs in at 1,695kg.
Then alongside it, we have the Porsche. It’s packing a 3-litre twin-turbo flat-six, but it’s had a stage two tune applied. As a result, it now pumps out 600hp and 651Nm of torque. This power is sent to all four wheels, and it tips the scales at 1,555kg.
So the Porsche may be lighter than the Audi, but it’s also down on power! Will the 20hp difference prove decisive? There’s only one way to find out for sure… LET’S RACE!

@@sylvaind.6786 They didn't say that did they.. it's a comparison of torque responsiveness and it's 100% true. HP is ofc just applied torque. And 20hp IS relevant just not the only factor. Edit: Also to invalidate your point. The 911 has a better drag coefficient. 992 Carrera's have a 0.29 and the R8 Spyder has a 0.36.

A Ferrari F40 will do 0-60 in 3.8 seconds (with good launch)
If we compared that to a modern stock Carrera 4s
Or an Audi R8 rwd
Or a Toyota GR supra
Just to name a few examples I think it could be close
not many ownsers will someone let their old and very very rare and expensive cars launch. But it wouldnt be the first time on this channel, that they are not allowed to launch but rolling races are still done

Right! But I think it should have performed even better, considering the much bigger weight and worst aero (the R8 Coupé would’ve been the perfect match and a different story), plus the broader power/torque band.

It doesn’t look like the 992 is pushing out 600hp. Given the way the R8 reels the Porsche in at the top end, I’d guess 550-570 hp at best.

I’d agree with that. The 992 GTS has 480hp and is within 0.1s for the 1/4m. Another 120hp on top of that should make a significant difference, mid 10’s maybe? I’d guess the 4S is less than 550hp as the R8 is at least 100kg heavier and less aerodynamic but pulls harder at the top, which it shouldn’t if the 911 actual had 600hp...

Also even heavily tuned the 992 Turbo S lose to any TT R8s in the Drag Racing world so what's your point ?
Considering the time of the Porsche, its weight and the way the Audi catches it at the higher speeds....either it is not so light, or it doesn't have more than 560....570hp at best. I think it will be quite interesting to see that Carrera 4s against the old Turbo S with 580hp.
Or, you know, the myriad of other factors that could be at play: aerodynamics, turbos being undersized, etc.
@@rustler08Aerodynamics won't play a role in that case, cause I'm pretty sure the Carrera 4s has even less drag than the 991.2 Turbo S, let alone the gt3 models for example. The turbochargers for sure are undersized for 600hp. You will have a very hard time to get 600hp out of Carrera 4s just with a remap and exhaust. Most of the stage 2 tuned 992 carrera S/4s are around 550hp.
@@rustler08Of course the other factors at play are important, but the tune is still weak. Look at what Apr and M-engineering tunes make on these S models. This tune is conservative

The kerb weight of a 992 C4S with PDK is actually around 1650KG, the quoted weight is the dry weight, which is meaningless. This is why the race was so close. Also the Porsche is claimed to have 600 bhp by the tuner, but there is no verification of this or what the exact mods are. Remember a lot of tuners overstate their gains, and/or if the charge cooling system on a forced induction car is not upgraded, heat soak can take effect sooner when the boost is increased, leading to a power loss.

All these particulate filters are not just ruining the sound but also the performance. The previous gen R8 V10 Perf did the 1/4 mile in 10.7 seconds. The latest with all the emission crap doesn't even seem to go below 11 seconds...
