adding a gate to a chain link fence ( how I did it)

- How I added a gate to my chain link fence. Having issues the with use of my preexisting gate, I decided to add another one while using the old gate as a reference point. By having the older gate to refer back to, this job was fairly simple. I would say lining the support poles up and keeping them perfectly straight was the hardest part of the installation. However, I am pleased with the function of it and the money saved on learning how to do it myself.
Hope this video helps you out.
Thanks for Watching

Very helpful. Thank you for taking the time to record and add any adjustments you would have made along the way.
Thanks. This is one of the simplest most straightforward video I've seen so far.
Clean work man, great job!
You have the easiest and best way of adding a gate than anyone else on UA-cam. Bravo!
I think you did a great job
Made this look so easy. Thank you kindly. I'm feeling better and better about doing my own gate watching these videos.
Thanks for making it look simple and quick, I had the general ideal already I’m going to use your video to help me complete my dog section gate.
If you bend one of the vertical wires over on fence fabric, you could have just twisted the wire out instead of cutting each wire in the fence.
Why the grinder? Just unfold the top and bottom curl on the fence wire you want to remove and it will just twist out. Also. Measure the width of the gate you are installing, add 2" on each side for gate hardware and this is the distance you put your two poles apart.
Really apprecitate your video, liked the editing and the music, we'll probably be trying this ourselves here sometime soon.
How to install a gate in witness protection. Great tips though
Nice work~
How many trips to Lowe’s did it take lol
great job. thx.
never done it but its pretty easy
I'm probably an idiot but why not attach to current posts?
Why did you use 2 latches?
Excellent job. About how long did it take from start to finish?
If I hadn't filmed it probably less than 2 hours, if you already have all the supplys. I also wasn't going for full perfection on this project, just needed a way to get the lawnmower in and out. Thanks for the comment.
Can I borrow your fence post driver?
Those are expensive for pounding in one post.
Unless you are very familiar with safety precautions, a better tool than a grinder would be a simple bolt cutter. Very skilled woodworkers have endured serious injuries using the depicted electrical tool.
Or...just twist the wire out and no cutting is needed
great job! did you set the new posts in concrete?
No, not the new ones, all the others were set so since I added the gate in between 2 existing ones, I just stuck them deeper in the ground, they still seem pretty solid though. I guess if they do start to sway it wouldn't be to hard to reset them. Thanks
that was not a great job! and i hope he didn't concrete the post!
On a walk gate just add 4" to the gate for your opening
whew, I tired just watching you struggle. I'm glad you got it done, but everything was done in a manner that made that job 10x more difficult than it had to be.
$1000 EOY!!!
u dont need to cut the chainlink, it unweaves
Some posts need concrete

That poor dog in the background is wondering why in the hell is this master chain link installer using a grinder to remove extra chain link ??? this video should say: how not to install a chain link fence... look at 8:53 how loose the fence is .... he left a extra link in the chain ??? he would of been smarter to install '' J '' bolts not hinges so he could adjust the clearance on the locking hinge... also chain link should be half a diamond above the top rail just say`n ,,,, and having 2 latch's is such a pain to deal with each time to open and close that new swing gate..
nice video but, i really wish adults could understand how unnecessary it is to turn a diy into a pseudo musical production. seriously, it's just annoying having to turn the volume down to zero so we don't have to hear some heehaw music track in the foreground starting and stopping, etc... OMG!
