- More 55 proves to be the perfect performance-cruising yacht, easily converted into a great pleasure yacht. This yacht has been well thought out to bridge the gap between performance and comfortable cruising. Although well adapted for Mediterranean sailing, it would cope with an Atlantic crossing or two.
Traditional layout with a very modern design. Extremely attractive yacht. The interior finish is beautiful. Lots to like on this one.
@@someguy9440 glad you liked it. We have an invite to test sail one if we go to spit sometime. Might be fun, maybe we should set up a subscriber week in the med?
“Whatever floats your boat”…..another classic review.
@@grahamkirkwood8339 thanks, we missed Boot Düsseldorf this year as we are going to Palma boot show instead so thought you guys might like this one.
Hi! This boats looks to be a good sailing/performance one, from the cockpit and hull design. But i felt there are better interiors to be, specially for longer periods. It is longer and wider (by 20 cm in each direction) than our beloved Amel 50 BUT its internal distribution is not good, with so many waste of space. The rear cabins feel cramped. On the saloon there's an empty space for a party and the main cabin bed leave one of your feet out of it, with no need...
And there are FOUR showers and THREE heads! It was designed taking global heating seriously :) The overall finishing looks good, quality.
After watching so many cool boat videos from you, I have the sensation that when designers are not used to big boats, the waste LOTS of space. This seems to be an example of this. If they review the interior, I believe it will be a more successful boat. Oh, they should also increase the size of the windows too, to let more light in and make the feel more airy.
Thanks for the video! See you on the next, fair winds!
@@joseerazevedo classic, when I saw all the heads and showers I thought it might be a swingers boat if you catch my drift. Fast sporty boat with a good hull like you say but with many new and modern sailboats the interior is lacking. Don’t worry we have something interesting coming next.
@@SVTONICBoatWives Hahaha! The perfect boat for Greece ;)
Horses for courses. I understand the appeal. Super light boat: 15.3 tonnes, vs 15.8 tonnes for the Italia 15.98 or 17.6 tonnes for the Solaris 55. Just not for me. Cockpit looks fine for racing but exhausting for eight hours at a time. Below decks looks fine for a long weekend, but no way for a whole week. I'm sure it will be a lot of fun for the right owner to race. But I'll stick to daydreaming about Allures, Garcias, and Hallberg-Rassys.
I've got friends who cruise with it regularly for a week and longer and sail it singlehanded. There's nothing exhausting about it, or any other performance cruiser if you're an experienced sailor.
@@SuperSventizeMe I had a look at a fully customizable yacht the other day, very interesting, they make the hull and deck (100% aluminum) and you design the interior (build it yourself to save money or get them to do it). How would something like that grab you?
@@SuperSventizeMe Pretty much in 100% agreement though two names to add to your list are Island Packet and Catalina, both of which unusually have guardian angels in the fine details. The closer you look, the more you see.Best Wishes. Bob. 🤔🌟🌟🌟👍⛵️
@@Franco.Zanchi Even experienced Sailors get caught in extremely bad weather, so get back to us after your friends have experienced the “Fun and extreme Discomfort “ of the T Shirt earning experience. I unfortunately have too many of those T Shirts myself, but unfortunately, just wishing you were on a much better boat at the time, never happens. 🤔
@brownnoise357 getting caught in bad weather more often than not implies poor seamanship. I've sailed all kinds of boats across oceans in all kinds of weather and would almost always rather choose a Pogo over Hallberg Rassy. But to each their own.
Carbon masts only make sense if you have a carbon boom with in boom furling
Respectfully, I disagree. Removing weight aloft still has plenty of benefits, including a stiffer boat that needs less righting moment, and an ability to bend in just the right ways to work with these new laminates-based sails.
@@someguy9440 Totally agree.
Yes but a carbon mast makes no sense with in mast furling if it had a carbon boom with on boom furling your righting would be so much better take it from someone who sail the southern lattertudes and has been knocked down more than once
@@darrynmeadows the problems with in Boom Furling stem from the amount of bird shit and Salt that end up in the Boom with no easy way to get to get it all out.with in Mast Furling it generally falls out and lands at the base of the Mast which needs protecting from. Corrosion if it is an aluminium Mast with a good hard Silicon Marine polish, so you can just hose it all off. tbh, I am not a fan of Carbon Masts as I just don’t trust them after owning lots of Carbon Fishing rods and you soon learn to throw them in the ground if there is any Thunder around, and aluminium can actually be a valuable part of overall lightning protection for the boat. Some great Carbon High modular fishing rods around mind. My favourite was a Berkeley Phazer Fly Rod, the feel with that was out of this World - best fight, nearly half an hour with a really fit three and a half pound ish Rainbow Trout . ish because it was returned to the lake I was fishing to fight another day. Too light a rod to fight the thirty plus pond Rainbow Trout I got into though. 🤣 Bob. 👍
PS. Really, the important question is what is the hull design like between the Chines? sadly “Performance” implies a flat and ON the Water design, for ease of Surfing and high speed ability which delivers a really uncomfortable and noisy boat to be on, both under away and at anchor. A less focused on performance design such as from the drawing board of Dufour’s Umberto Felci and others, has an excellent below the waterline hull design where the hull between the Chines is IN the water, and is not on it. Flat hull between the Chines and a lightweight construction ? Pass. 🤔
@@brownnoise357 thought you might be interested Bob, don’t tell anyone but we are getting a look at the brand new Dufour 48 before their launch in April. It looks good on paper so hopefully it will be more interesting in the flesh.
@ Hiya. Though outside of my Boatsize range, I look forward to that for the insights it will provide on the Shifting Design philosophy Dufour is going through. Umberto Felci’s design Studio is one of the ones I respect the most frankly, though those Italian boat interior Designers ? No Comment. 🤣 All the Best for 2025. Bob. PS . Things are getting seriously interesting on the bullion front, at a pretty alarming rate frankly, with the USA repatriating its Gold in such large amounts, the LBMA has run out of Gold Supplies, and the same is true of Silver supplies as well ?As both are major factors in Real Money, there is already a lot of talk on Gold replacing the dollar for international Transactions, and where Gold goes, Silver is joined at the hip ? That means the very likely Global Collapse of all Fake Money Debt based Fiat Currencies and Digital Currencies could be approaching, in what will be the biggest Economic Collapse in World History, as all the Debt Bubbles implode. So how is the sale of your house going ? If you don’t mind me asking. While I am not a Financial advisor, I have had a lot of hands on experience with Foreign Currency Exchange Trading, and earned mor Profit from that aspect of the import export side of my building materials supply business, such that I was able to give very good discounts on a range of products for my usiness a very successful business strategy, that was wrecked, believe it or not, by the introduction of the euro by the EU. 🤣 Anyway, wishing you every success with the House Sale, but before it becomes Unobtainium, give some thought to grabbing some insurance in the form of what is presently the most undervalued asset on the Planet, which is Silver, but get it in the form of .999 purity Silver Coins ? Dollar face value Silver Eagles, or British Silver Brittania, have very low face values as legal Tender, mean you should have no problem crossing borders wispy 10 one ounce Silver Brittania Coins with a face value of £2 each, total Value £20 but you may well be able to buy a boat with ten ounces, or get tenth of an ounce gold coins for the same benefits ? Though tbh,the Reality that Silver is far more precious than gold, and that it is a much more important metal, is eventually going to sink in.Hopefully it will sink in fast enough for me to buy two boats, the Smaller Sailboat for testing the Mast and Rig Small Boom setup, and the larger one for me to be able to actually live on Comfortably.Though as the old saying goes - no plan survives first contact eith the Enemy. Good Luck and Fair Winds. a still landlocked Bob.🤔🌟🌟🌟👍⛵️
