Great setlist, Cheap Trick was on fire here. Bun E. was 100% the band’s secret weapon, there’s no way they don’t notice his absence in live performances modern day.
Remember the movie “ OVER THE EDGE” ? I could relate to those characters so much, but living in an Ohio cornfield housing development . CHEAP TRICK, THE CARS, THE POLICE, I learned guitar playing these tunes. Now I’m a 56 year old disgruntled teenager .
Thank you Mr. Carlos! Being an Arkansas Cheap Trick fan, this is so awesome to hear! Now, let's hope there's a recording from the All Shook Up tour at Barton Coliseum, Little Rock - January 28, 1981.
Great concert with wonderful energy! When I met my wife (October 1983), I was listening to Heaven’s Falling on my Walkman. So NPP is a significant album for us. We even like Dancing the Night Away!
I could go out on a limb here and say the band was probably at its live peak around this time. Robin's vocals on Heaven's Falling are pretty amazing. Bun playing his ass off all over the place! I assume this was the white marine kit.
Wow!! A set list with BOTH "Dancing The Night Away" and "Everything Works If You Let It" in it!! 2 soundtrack songs that the band was supposedly not very fond of, yet put em both in on the same night. How cool is that??
Always loved the energy of this show - to now hear it from the source tape is even better! From an itinerary I have seen, this show was 11/12/83 - two weeks before the Detroit concert I saw on the 26th. Thank you guys for another great NPP performance!
Always loved Cheap Trick since the very 1st time seeing them in August of 1977 at the Cow Palace when they opened for KISS. Nothing against Jon Brandt, but you can sure hear the difference of their live sound without the talent of Tom Petersson on the 12 string bass. Tom adds so much to their live concert sound. Glad he returned in late 1987!!!!!! 👍🎸
When I was in college living in a dorm room, I can remember blasting Heavens Falling on my stereo several times in a row and other students knocking on my door asking what I was playing, that was back in 1984. Awesome show, much thanks Bun !!
These are awesome but I don't suppose you have both sets from millennium eve from mgm studios florida......it was either styx at downtown disney or the trick at mgm (Hollywood studios). So we came all the way from England and saw cheap trick😂
Doesn't sound like Pete Comita. If I had to guess? Tom. But I forget when Tom took his leave . . . Good question though coz I was thinking the same thing.
Can we all agree that Cheap Trick should have left Epic Records the minute they forced "Dancing The Night Away" on the band? Good God, what a travesty.
They obviously were struggling when Tom left the band in late 1980. Although they continued to put out good records and kept touring constantly, they didn't get back to form until 1988 with Lap of Luxury after Tom Petersson returned!!!! Love Cheap Trick, have seen them live over 25 times. Loved their writing and live sound also in the 90's especially with their release of CT 97. That was an awesome album!!!! 👍🎸
This is my favorite band but for me NPP is there worce album. Heavens Falling sounds good but Dancing the night away 🤮. I cant figure out why Reach Out isn't rotated in the setlist.
@@ctfan1486 Yup I agree, I never cared for NPP. From what I've heard "Reach out" was taken out of their setlist in 1988 after Tom returned. I think Pete Comita wrote or helped write that song and Tom Petersson didn't want to have it in the set. I've seen CT live over 25 times since 1977 and the only time I've ever heard them play that live in concert was in 1981 when Pete Comita was playing with them for just one year before Jon Brandt joined the band.
@@bartonpercival3216 Tom is friends with Pete Comita (played together in Sick Man of Europe). Plus they continue to play "I Can't Take It" which Pete allegedly had a considerable hand in , so that seems doubtful. Maybe it's just that it's a more tertiary song in their catalog?
Yeah... in 1983 CT Were Smoldering HOT. But, I've listened to 20:58 { WHY are they playing weak ass songs ? } I hope it gets better. "Dancing the night away" DEFINITELY Going to fast forward.
Way To Go, Bun! Keep 'em comin'!!
This band defines the term "there's no 'I' in the word 'team.' All praise is equally dispersed among each member. It's refreshing to hear. Thanks!
Heaven's Falling is the best song on NPP.
There, I said it. The bridge KILLS.
Ok seriously this concert should be a vinyl release 💥
Reach Out is such an under-rated gem

Me, too!

Cheap Trick...always bringing great Rock and Roll to YOUR town. Always bringing the goods and energy to every inch of the good 'ol USA.
Everything Works - how bloomin awesome
Nice Chanel.
I was at Bun E basement with Adler when ya had the experience band. Good old Rockford!!!!
If I ever got Reach Out *OR* Everything Works live, that's one thing. If I got both, I'd probably soil my britches.
omg, THIS SETLIST!!!
FUK YEAH!!!! La La LOVE U BUN EEEEEEEEEEEEE🥁🐰Totally 4 sure....
Could listen to Bun E and the band all day
Check out the drumming on Dream Police! Surrender too! Totally crisp on every song in this concert!
PEAK Cheap Trick here 1983👍 they were the best when they were Hungry imo

Great great set. Love the ending arrangement on Heaven’s Falling. Was there a keyboardist on this tour?
Who’s playing keys on Reach Out?
Doesn't sound like Pete Comita. If I had to guess? Tom.
But I forget when Tom took his leave . . . Good question though coz I was thinking the same thing.
I believe Magic Christian played keys on this tour.
It's Jon Brandt on bass, this is the NPP tour
@@KeyboardInvisibility thank you!
53:28- Rick introduces Magic Cristian on keyboards.
