It came out great! It’s always a toss up, do you spend time making tools or knives. It’s simply an equation of what is more valuable, your time or money. Great video, David!
Health to you from Donbass, there is a similar video on the Alexandre Bigunas channel, but instead of a red-hot table, just strips of a polished file are glued to the parallels
I know his channel for a while, but I didn't seen this video- He used already hardent files to create a guide surface and because of that, he had to glued it to the paralles. Drilling holes in hardent steel is very difficult. Thanks for watching and Regards from Poland (hehe, we are neighbours). David
Hey David, finally found some time to watch this video. Great job as always and I definitely agree with you on making your own tools, as I also find joy in using my own tools. Hope your videos get recommended again soon!
Thank you Sven! Yes, I believe that you know this feeling well - You made very cool looking and unusual belt grinder. I hope YOU will upload some works soon too! Thanks a lot for support!
@@DBCraftWorld Yes, it's been 3 month now since my last upload, but I finally got some time to post again 🥳 and you're more than welcome for the support. I really enjoy seeing the same people in all the knifemaking videos comments. Feels like a great community ✌
You're welcome:)! This is relatively simple to make and cost almost nothing. Good way to save some money, considering the fact that those file guides cost $75.. Cheers David
I'm always a little skeptical about the products makers put out there for view when doing a tutorial video, but you never lost me in the basic instructions or the belief in the quality or design. I'm gonna sub and roll through your videos if I get a little time from wrangling the kiddos this weekend. 👍🏼 Merry Christmas/Yuletide.
Thank you very much Christopher! Most of the content is knife making but I have few DIY tool videos that might be helpful for guys who want to safe a "few bucks". Honestly, I don't see reason to buy tools I can make by myself- Yes, time is money but when you make tool it's exactly what you need- it's customized. I think you will like "hidden tang handle broach" made from jig saw blade- It's also about $1 and 30min project. And btw: If you ever have any problem with some tool (diy or not) you can always ask me for help:)! If I can, I'll help! Merry Christmas for you! David
Hey I couldn't leave a message earlier! I wonder what happened? I totally agree with you, making your own tools makes you use those tools more often! I made a tool out of some really thick steel, by hammering it, heating it, and hammering it more. I made it into a really stretched out S shape, and it's nothing huge, but it made putting new tires onto new big $$$$ rims like slipping on a glove. I made a tool out of a piston (tack welded) to keep things straight while in the sandblasting tank. I also made a couple of impromptu "tools" to help the concrete forms stay level, or at angles that we needed. We needed the forms to be exact because they were to fill and set the footings with the concrete whdn we were done. The real nail biting part was stripping the forms off, hoping that they came out the exact way that the blueprints had them set at. Great video David, well made 😉
This shows your potencial and ability to solve the problems without help or expencieve tools, but if you ever face with problem you cant solve, you can always count on my help/advise (just send me a message via email: dbcraftworld@gmail.com).. Puting new tire on big truck wheel is HARD- tool that helps this task is priceless. It's cool that, while you see the problem you consider it as a task- not a border/wall. Thanks for your support Buddy:)!
Cmon Adam, you make knives! Tool making is much less complicated! And this particular one is very simple tool to make. The only "advance" tools you need is drill press and the drill vise to drill holes perpendicular.
Hey Buddy! Thank you so much! Those words always motivate me! I'm very happy that you found value in what I do! Soon I'm back with new videos- I think you will love them! Cheers, David!

Yes, that it right! But sometimes it's just nessesery (when stock tool specification doesn't meet your expectations). Thanks for watching Denis!

Where did you get the tungsten carbide faces from. I’m trying to build me a file guide but I can’t seem to find tungsten carbide
I didn't. It's just a random piece of carbon steel.
Thanks for making this video, keep it up.
