I’m so hyped for the speedrun potential!
yeah, because the main thing that makes the game long is when you get hit.
this game was clearly designed for speed runners
You prolly dont care but if you are stoned like me during the covid times you can watch pretty much all of the new series on InstaFlixxer. I've been streaming with my girlfriend for the last few days xD
@Harrison Victor yea, been watching on InstaFlixxer for since november myself :)
I really like how you structure this video in such a way that it is basically a more easily digestible and entertaining review!
I suck at this game but damn is it cool. Honestly love it.
You should wishlist karlsson if ypu like this ame
i have finished it righ now in 8.2 hours
@@maxir.t4263 is there more after that
@@roysonthedoctor1958 yes. There is karlsson.
Go wishlist karlsson
Bro same on level 5 I died like 115 times 😂
I really enjoyed this game save for a few instances: one is the platform detection and hit detection being very inconsistent. There’s been times when enemy attacks shouldn’t have touched me but they did anyway. I also really disliked the first “boss” of the game as well as the last level.
I completely agree that god awful "boss" was so bad well let me tell you I rather self inflict thousands of small cuts including eyes and dick then bath is tobasco it tops all shit I went through on games like the crappy bosses if you can call them that of remnant from the ashes a friend said this was like super hot the first game i got platinum on the only similar part of super hot and ghost runner is you die in one hit that's it
The only good boss in this game is that laser machine. The female ghostrunner and Mara are absolute dogshit.
Besides Malicious Fallen last boss, Ghost runner final level is one of the most hardest levels I've done gaming.
@@GramoChopin You think? I think when i did it it took about 15 tries. What about it was difficult? (also to be clear you mean the mara fight right?) I Felt like most of the times i died were just to stupid mistakes or not seeing the claw swing wind up
@@Llama_charmer The Monster is the stage name. Do i really need to describe it? That entire level was a parkour cluster fuck .
I will summarize this whole video in one sentence.
You are a ghost and you run.
aah yes, a ghostrunner if one must say
And your main objective is getting an rgb katana
My main gripes with this game are really that moving walls are very hard to consistently get right and that the exploding zombie enemies near the end of the game are straight up not fun to fight.
I also wasn't a fan of the last two boss fights because it felt like they ground the breakneck pace of the rest of the game to a halt. You don't keep moving to avoid attacks, you stand there and wait for the telegraphed swing to either dash away or block it.
Love how the ninja enemy throws jojo refrences in japanese
Yare yare isn’t a jojo reference
@@keanu1413 everything is a jojo reference
They also call you weak every time they kill you lol
This game is super fun, but that one section in the train when you have to dodge the signs and the later levels with the robots are annoying as hell and I lost tons of braincells lol
He's exactly right, I'm not good at games at first
I'm a masochistic gamer, I dumped thousands of lives before finally beating the game
But that feeling I now get of clearing through entire blocks of levels flawlessly now can't be matched. I hope to one day full flawless it
One of the best games I've ever played
"Within the dark I may rest
I hold the universe in my hands,
Yet in the end we all await
The rise of dark souls new friends."
:)
This game is SO satisfying & addicting. It feels so goddamn good.
This game can be described as:
"Oh no, cyberpunk2077 got delayed, but this game just got released, is on sale and looks nice. [5 hours later] THIS GAME IS AWESOME!!"
The last level makes you master the time slow and air dash. It makes the earlier levels easier and you became a god in the air.
I think demod's video is getting even better with edititing, choice of music, thumbnail choice, how he shares his opinions and how it still remains entertaining.
I still look forward to his thoughts on ghost of tsushima since there are some interessting bosses.
Dmod always takes a dive deeper into the mechanics and gameplay that resonates deeper with most gamers that take the time to relate. In my mind, that makes his reviews so much better than most UA-camrs out there. Thanks for the incredible review Dmod. Got me interested in playing a game I hadn't heard anything about before.
So far I don't really think there is 10 things to hate, Im right after the second boss and I barely have any complaints
The game is only as good as you are at it, the better you are, the smoother and more natural your experience is.
Yeah exactly what I got from the demo as well. There is a great game somewhere. But the difficulty is a bit over tuned to be enjoyable.
It’s a whole different game once you learn to dash slide and ledge boost.
The amount on enjoyment you can get out of this game is directly related to how willing you are to learn and master the movement levels and combat scenarios and I highly suggest watching speedrun movement guides
With cyberpunk 2077 being delayed this is now a must buy for me
I'm not good or normaly interested in games like this but I really enjoy it
I love this game so far. I already have great clips of it and I'm hoping to speedrun it soon!
I just got this game as a gift and it has to be one of the greatest gaming experiences I have ever had. Too bad its so short. Even with that its so fun to replay the game and destroy in the early/ mid levels after mastering the mechanics.
"Slashing & dashing"... I think we now have a new genre name thanks to you. We had the run'n'gun. Now we have the slash'n'dash!
Still waiting for the ghost of tsushima essay
I seriously recommend buying this game for PC instead of console some of the "hates" are fixed for example the enemies with the shields tracking movement a bit too fast. I seriously think this is a hidden gem it's definatly not for everyone but at least try the demo it made me fall in love with this game. 10/10 my opinion
The cylinder boss killed me-I kid you not-199 times before I finally took it down. I still loved the game, and it's the best 1st person game I've played in years (really ot that into them normally).
hi, could you do a boss ranking in the memory bossees of sekiro?
I think this game is awesome the way they carve out a niche, but it just think the death loop gameplay is antithetical to the game’s concept- speed and momentum.
People should note that as of release the PS4 edition has lower quality graphics that has been addressed and is being worked on.
LETS BE HONEST GAME IS COMPLETELY UNPLAYABLE ON CONTROLLERS!!!!!!!!!
Hellooooooooo DeMod. Good ta see you!
I’m surprised you’re already doing a “10 Things I Love or Hate”. I thought you usually did that once the actual game was released haha. Regardless I’m always happy to see you upload and I’m excited to hear what you think.
Edit: Wait, this released today?! Crap, I have it preordered! I have to get to downloading it!
Solid 8 out of 10. Brutally difficult, and some unfair placement of platforms and rails. (Some require pixel perfect precision) but the game graphics are amazing, and its super fun to revisit old levels to replay them.
Hey, DeMod! I've just bought this game because of you!
I really love your content!
Hugs from Brazil! ❤❤
Some rooms became significantly easier using the instant recharge perk for the force push (which is so satisfying to kill clumped up enemies with)
I definitely agree with the point of bad platform segments. As some definitely felt like the game messing with the player, instead of just simply having a laugh at their fails.
best way to kill the shielders is to sensory boost around the shield then kill them
It's always so entertaining and relaxing watching your videos, rlly nice!!
If you like Ghostrunner you'll love Katana Zero. Similar mechanics only put into a 2d environment with great replay value and a surprisingly deep story
Hope the game gets a good enough response for development to continue. Survival, time trials, speedrun modes, weekly maps/challenges. This game has a boatload of potential.
Ghost Runner speedrunning is going to be spectacular
This is the best review i've seen on youtube yet. Great video!
I keep thinking if I had a double jump It would solve most of my platforming issues
For the most part I loved this game, my only problem is that it would randomly not launch me on boost pads, suddenly make me look a different direction, and randomly launch me out of wall running. If this is something I'm doing wrong and not actually a glitch, please let me know.
I feel like the hel boss battle was easy but had you parrying at the wrong time it looked to be like when you should parry it had already hit you but I guess that's just me. Also those crawling bombs are terafying to look at.
Demod please make a " best boss fight cutscene"(from software games) ranking
He's actually a cyber ninja lol
devs: so there is this ability called blink
me: im just gonna pretend i didn't see that
Devs: nooo use all the abilitys
Me: tempest only sure
Devs: NOOOOOOOOOO
Damn this looks like a 3D katana zero and I’m so down for that
id love to see demod rank the dead rising bosses
I absolutely despised that train sequence
I'm very hype for this game!
im sold from watching just 1min of gameplay
This was one best games I ever played ! Any advice I can give is take your time. If.you like a level repeat it till you master it or your bored . You will see your gameplay improve trust me
I love this game, I already 100% completed it and trying to get 0 deaths on all the levels. It's honestly just a blast to play
Now that we are 7 months down the line... did you get 0 deaths after Tom?
Halfway thru the game and loving it!
I like how for the hate section he basically showed the last level of the game, all of which I too hated.
I , no doubt like many , downloaded the Demo of Ghostrunner just to get a feel for the game mechanics as its post cyberpunk graphics look sweet for a game under 10GB but once you start this game , the developers weren't kidding , prepare to die an insane amount of times just to get to the next checkpoint...
For the time I spent on this game it thankfully doesn't take you back to the start of every level as the missions are broken in a certain amount of checkpoints but damn this game is so unforgiving & thats even when you've got your strategy for that specific character that's in your way because if your too slow or off by seconds your dead & this is especially true of levels that have 2 characters you need to get passed in the section in front of you & when you killed that character you have to back track & wall run again back in the direction you came but obviously it's been moved over so that your entering another part of level design & yes there's another character from this game who be happy to shot you while your trying to kill the first character!..
Why the developers decided to make this game insanely difficult is beyond me & you'd have to ask the developer as I said before the only plus thing about this game is the level is broken up by a certain amount of checkpoints so that if you die your more than likely to start at the stage prior to when your character was killed...
For a game that's, as I've said , just under 10GB it's captured that cyberpunk Blade Runner's look down perfectly but I haven't played a game this unforgiving since the first Odddworld: Abe's Oddysee which over time become increasingly hard to get past just one segment & though that is side scroller this game has the same principal of learning on the move & more often than not you have to die to figure out what is the correct way to get through each section...
Even though this is on sale I'd have to pass , as there was once a time I had the patience & skill for game's like Oddworld & this type of game's & this one with it FPP i would've spent many hours perfecting it but like Oddworlds insane difficulty as you went along you do this in this game also but instead of side scrolling your doing in first person perspective...
I don't relish my blood level & temper going through the roof & I know when I'm beaten before I start... Which is a shame as I went as far as I could in the demo but felt the payoff didn't have a 50/50 feeling of this game being as even with the difficulty that would match your overall play time within this game...
Such a pity as this game really looks great but I've been honest enough to say that it's not worth my time as I know I'll lose my temper a lot quicker than I would've 20 to 30 years ago but then again I've rarely come across a game that was this demanding of such precise worked out movements in advance & if your wrong your dead & back to the checkpoint...
It sounds like I'm copping out too early but believe me I'm not & i just download the Free Demo to see how nuts & insanely difficult this game becomes...
It sneaky as its still difficult at the start but as you progress & it lures you in with its almost simplistic idea of wall run , go into quick slow mo to move out of the way of shots fired in your direction , then attack...
But this game literally ramps up the difficulty within minutes of playing it & I'm not coughing up money on new joypads as I've admitted that I'd love to play this but it's just too damn unforgiving for my liking but if your up to the challenge then go for it as it does look fun but after dying 40 times just trying to get past just 2 sections within in Part of the game is not for me & the thing of it is I thrived on game's this difficult before but not anymore...
Shame on me & not the developer's as I would've loved to play this but , seriously, it's just too much & the rate you die at even when you've got your correct movement mechanics down to a tee it still slaughters any gamer who isn't 110% spot on & in my opinion it takes away the fun of playing this games as we play for a certain level of difficulty but it's also about fun & I didn't have much fun playing the demo but other gamers might love this but no I...
In light of this still ongoing coronavirus stay safe and healthy wherever you are in this world...
.....
I hated that the dash removes all previous momentum and gives you a new momentum that is usually much slower.
Yeah when sliding down a slope your momentum at the time of the jump dissapears.
Yea that is unfortunate, however if you dash off a ledge it gives you immense momentum. Waay more momentum than if you were to jump and then dash off a ledge
@@omercinar6693 yeah but you build up shit tones of momentum if you press the slide and jumb button at the same time constantly it's like bunny hopping
Now that cyberpunk is delayed again I needed something like this🤣.
I only disliked 3 things in this game, the rotating platform when you are gathering information bits, the final level, and those enemies in the lab that self explode, other then that, solid game
I'm usually more of a strategy/turn-based player, but due to the one-hit mechanic i saw each fight more like a puzzle played in real-time, tasking me with finding the correct sequence to deal with every enemy while moving smoothly across the room. During the platforming sections (which i personally loved, especially some parts towards the end) the game sometimes also feels like a rhythm game, which makes it satisfying to zip along the path.
I don't think i would want to grind out each level until perfection, but i would love for the devs to include some sort of level editor, so the community can provide itself with more levels to play.
A level editor is a tall order for an indie dev team
btw another similar puzzle game is Super Hot, everyone and you is onehit but time moves only when you do
My only complaint is the suicide bomber enemies later on in the game.
I think shurikens should be something you always have but a limited amount that changes depending on the difficulty and level you chose (I don't know if there's a difficulty slider or different modes but I hope there is). I also think the speed that the shield enemies turn at is bullshit and ruins the flow of the gameplay. Also tell me if there's a endless mode.
I really love ghostrunner - however the most frustrating parts were some of the extremely difficult platforming sections. Especially with the slightly imprecise movement animations which lead to a bunch of death that where wholly the games fault.
Play this game on PC if possible the graphics frames and faster feel makes it better
I feel on console it’s also harder because you can’t turn as fast
@@a-bootiful-mind6648 nowhere near impossible. I play with controller and it feels just fine. Yea it might be slightly easier with keyboard but on controller the default button layout is the “bumper jumper” style which works very well with this game.
@@a-bootiful-mind6648 oh the game is very difficult, I’ve died 159 times on one level and I absolutely HATED the first “boss” fight. Dodging those lasers pissed me off to no end
stay moving and crouchjump while doing this fast it is virtually impossible to get hit
I can’t agree with the downsides honestly other then some of the deaths not being your own fault. I love the variety and I’m personally really compelled to increase my time on levels. With the whole complaint about shield enemies in a group you can use your time slow to get behind them easily when you’re close, at that point it’s just a matter of situational awareness so you don’t get hit when they die.
Are you by any chance going to cover the new Sekiro update? It has three enhanced versions of bosses that could change some rankings, plus being able to simply jump into a boss fight is just nice. It could shake some rankings up.
On a side-note a part of me was kind of disappointed that Mara was a giant dick. If you don't get the reference Mara is a demon/persona in the Shin Megami Tensi (SMT) games, the Persona series is a spinoff of SMT BTW and looks like this (megamitensei.fandom.com/wiki/Mara). Also apparently "Mara" is slang word used by Japanese Buddhist Monks for "penis", and in the Persona games is a part of the Tower arcana. It's likely why the SMT games that get released in North America get M-ratings while most of them in other nations get the equivalent of a T-rating.
In short it's basically a dick joke by Atlus, which in turn I'm using to basically make a dick joke, unoriginal I know.
Can't wait to build my pc (When the shortage ends, so like 2023) So I can start making videos, and have fun playing games I've been missing out on, since My laptop can't run most games....
On thing to note it that this isn't really a controller game. Mouse and keyboard are quite necessary for maximal enjoyment with the movement and combat.
A totally unrelated comment to the video but more so out of curiosity. Have you played through Celeste? Its a decently difficult platformer in the base story, that becomes really fricking difficult towards the optional and final DLC level
I don't understand some of his hates. Every platforming blunder he showed was his fault for not dashing. Also you complain about the shield enemies but you are not even fighting them right. You are supposed to slow time and rotate around them lol
I agree with him, there have been countless times where I jump on a zipline and it either just pushes me off or I just go right through it without grabbing on.
You are right about him not fighting the shield enemies right, but there are some stupid moments where it isnt ur fault for dying. There have been lots of times where in stead of me "grabbing" a wall and wallrunning, the charakter just didnt do it. Same for Ziplines. Instead of grabing them, i would get thrown off of them or would just fly threw em.
@@karlonovakovic9509 yeah that is true for me as well. I am not saying the game's detection is perfect but all of the clips he showed were not the game's fault lol
Sometimes when you jump off a wall or zipline, rather than jumping the full distance, you just sorta fall off.
Jumping distance doesn’t feel consistent, you can try to recovering from missing a wall like DeMod did by dashing, but it doesn’t cover much distance and the game might not even let you go back on the wall regardless.
Ghostrunner is just karlson but hd.
Btw you should wishlist karlsson to make it the number 1 wishlisted game
The last level was really bad. I kept losing and it wasn’t even my fault. The moving platform and balls segment was so incredibly broken. But other than that last level, this game is fun as hell.
Seems a little bit like Superhot, the cyber ninja edition 👍😂
That was the vibe I got from it too. Definitely fun, but not something I feel the need to play over and over.
@@rogiairaix2731 yeah feels like a game I'll play when/if it comes to game pass and will be an awesome game to just pick up and play after a long play session of something like Cyberpunk or Assassins creed, just to get some instant fun 👍
Aside from the slippery platforming, I hate hate HATE that you cannot map your controls to specific bindings (idk if you can on pc, but you can't on console). It is a pet peeve of mine when developers map things to the L3 and R3 buttons. I'm using those to move and look so mapping other actions takes the piss. As such, while I like the gameplay, it is super frustrating to play, because the controls are so awkward and all I can do is just put up with it. Just allowing you to change the bindings would fix this, as it stands this seemingly innocuous problem hampers a lot of enjoyment I have.
Yea its weird you cant on console. You can remap all the keys on pc. In fact you can even add secondary keys for the same function (if you feel like it)
Ghostrunner is such a *_quick boi_*
Sweet they made genji a solo game
Agreed with most of your points. The shield guys can be real annoying, especially that room with 3 of them grouped up (took me forever to beat that part lol). Also, fuck the exploding zombies.
Is footage from PC or PS4?
Wish I saw this before I bought the game. I like the setting and idea of the gameplay but I hate the difficulty. I absolutely suck at this game; 100+ deaths and I haven't even finished the first level.
Is anybody else experiencing massive technical issues with the game on PS4 (poor optimization, screen tearing...) ?
It's confirmed to be broken on PS4, frame rate issues, tearing, etc. WhatCultureGaming has posted a video detailing it. Sucks cause I was gonna download it.
Definitely screen tearing. Graphics are a little muddy, a little jaggy, but for 23 bucks it is worth it imo. Hoping for some patches or at least a ps4 pro performance mode
Not yet. Im past the jacked up stage. So what..like stage 5 or 6 or sumthin.
I have this fun thing happen where imputs don't work or ill just slam into the wall and fall
Just found this game, and to answer your question. Yes I do like getting my teeth kicked in by a game... I play bloodborne
just finished the game today
Can’t play the game. The resolution is fixed at 720p tried the ini setting and it won’t work.
I type HATE First person platforming but this looks pretty cool
There is just ONE thing I hate about this game. THAT LAST CYBERVOID LEVEL. FUCK THAT.
This is the realist review, I had to watch this cause ign review sounded like a pure lie to me
I think a good update would be an ‘easy’ mode, like it requires 2 hits to die and you would die instantly after falling off, granted I am absolute trash at the game
Anyone having an issue on PC trying to change resolution on DX12
Love: the game is amazing
Hate: I’m on Xbox and an attachable keyboard doesn’t work
This game is brutal on controller lol
@@Jonnyoffthespot agreed
PS5 version confirmed. I'm gonna wait for that because my backlog is already massive.
Sekiro update just dropped to play
Kind of weird considering they are so differnet but this game reminds me of Control
So...single player genji game we all wanted
High difficulty? Ok when do we fight Orphan of Kos?
Yeah so each level took me an hour and I get 70-100 deaths each level. That was my first play through. Anybody who did better or worse pls reply
I love everything about this game but those boss battle quick time events are just not fun
Are you doing demon souls remake since it is out now
The clunky controller gameplay really subtract from how fluid the combat can and should look.
I struggled with this as well....Just change the controls man and you'll be right as rain
Changing my control scheme to Bumper Jumper Tactical made movement much easier to execute for me, though it isn’t gonna replace a KB/M
@@f3z087 agreed... Bumper jumper is fucking uncomfortable
I died 300 times in the last level LOL
