Excellent video. There is a shortage of high quality videos like yours with real insight. Please keep producing them - I’ve played CM/FM from the very beginning & still learned a huge amount from this video. Thank you
Would really love to see a more detailed guide to setup the charts and transfer data into looker studio. The skin is really giving a totally new experience with FM, love it !
Glad you're enjoying the skin! I would recommend taking a read through the Looker Studio guide in the description. It does a far better job than I could do.
Will do @mustermannfm :) It is new for me playing this way, but I have been playing FM/CM since 99/00 so it is really refreshing :) In terms of the data and metrics you combine to get some insight in the perfomances of the players like the excitement factor, I would really like to see some more of that for inspiration, and not so much the technicalities of setting it up in a practical level in Looker. Hope it makes sense :)?
@@MrJacobpals I'll see what I can do, but might struggle to do a full video on it. The process isn't very complex: What do I want attacking players to do? Exciting things. What are exciting things? Shots and dribbles. What metrics measure shots and dribbles? Shots, passes leading to shots (key passes), dribbles, dribbles that would've been if the opponent hadn't fouled them (fouls won). It is sadly as straightforward and uninspired as that.
@@MrJacobpals I don't plan that explicitly. Instead I respond to the topics that come up in the course of playing, as I believe it is far more useful using real scenarios than setting up conditions. I will be soon starting my main FM24 career which, unlike the previous series, will be over many seasons (hoping I don't get sacked), so I imagine this topic may come up.
just discovered your channel and watched a bunch of your videos consecutively over a few hours, fantastic editing and terrific humour! made me pause and laugh in incredulity several times. not to mention a very attractive aesthetic and skin, being well-researched and always explaining your decisions and sophisticated thinking. I'm such a big fan, I hit the bell icon to have your channel on upload so quick notifications
Thank you very much, I really appreciate it 🙏 Not sure I agree with "terrific humour" - it's passable at best 🤣 but grateful for the compliment anyway. It'll be a little while until my next video due to work commitments, but really looking forward to getting into the swing of things for FM24. Hope to see you there!
You know, I've read and watched a lot of pieces on "data-driven" approaches to scouting in FM over the years, and this is the best I think I've seen. I especially appreciated how you immediately started out distinguishing stats-based recruitment from sabermetrics or ordinary value trading. Unfortunately, there are many myths about what each of these things are, (not to mention what they aren't). Great explanations and editing as well. The first video I haven't felt like watching on 2x speed in some time.
Thank you for the kind words. Moneyball/sabermetrics/data-led-recruitment is a very nebulous topic, especially when tyring to distil it down to something applicable for a game like FM (when certain aspects are still in their infancy in real life, and others just aren't appropriate at all).
Man , i've just watched ur Videos , ur fkn taking this game to totaly another level . The only problem is not all of us can read data , as we used to look only at the Attributs . For me i used to look at the player Abillty and his form and his report such as Personalty and conssitnsy . That was giving me how good they are , but ur way making it even more fun to play and more challenging . It just another level . Keep it up .
Thanks for replaying . U are right , i got used to it only in 2 days . I did created list of players and import it into Tableau and created 4 sheets then i droped them into dashboard and everything looked perfect , the only thing that i didnt know how to execlude player from all sheets by one click , i have to do that over the whole dashboard witch makes my life hard 😂😂😂 If its something i need to learn in Tableau please put a link where can i improve using it . If not and its only one keyboard hot key , then please tell me what key . Thanks in advanced .
@@tarikat6870 as mentioned, I don't use Tableau, but it does appear to be the one used most by other FM creators. There are links in the description for a useful guide on using Tableau from the wonderful SteinkelssonFM.
One thing I like to do is check what formation the team is playing. No point buying a striker that needs a strike partner (Werner) when I play one up top. Same thing for full backs vs wing backs. Very different positions
A good point!! I will add, though, that this is where using a statistical approach can be super useful in assessing whether a player can adapt to a different style. The qualities you are looking for from a striker in a front 2 should be different to what you are looking for from a lone striker, and understanding what profile you are looking for will guide which statistics you prioritise.
Magnificent! You've done it again! The way you approach playing FM is awesome. I feel like I haven't been getting the most out of this game by not delving as deep into it as you do. If I were to suggest something to improve the channel...it would be the frequency!! Haha, I love your videos so much that I'd prefer one every 3 days xD. Nah, just kidding hehe. Great job! I'm following closely. P.S. If I could make a request, I think it would be a video (hopefully you haven't done it already...) about what you consider or what process you follow to choose a team in a new game. It would definitely help/contribute a lot, for sure
Thank you very much, dude 🙏 I'd love to release more frequently. Still need to learn how to do things quicker without compromising quality. Or I need to not sleep. One or the other 😂. A good idea for a video. I don't necessary have a thought process for picking teams, but might be good to explore some interesting teams.
Watched the serie 3x - Thank you for showcasing how immersive the game can be in such a way! It's a pleasure to have a talented individual like yourself in our community! I have a technical question: I tried your skins and I love them, your most recent one, the one we see in your videos seems to not fit well with my 1920x1080 100% FM options, was the skin designed for another resolution? Another question attribute related: Teamwork, I'm trying to figure out how effective it is in both defense and attack. You are more deep into stats than me, have you played with high teamwork players and how good are they? Thank you for your time and for your passion
Firstly, thank you 🙏 These videos are recorded at 1920x1080. With MPGD, which is a beta, you need 100% FM Options, but also 100% Windows Scaling (this is called Ease of Access in Windows 10 and earlier). Teamwork is very important in terms of having players who will follow your tactical instructions, and just generally not being selfish. In terms of "high" teamwork players, as I have attributes obscured, I can never be 100% certain how high or low a player's teamwork is, so can't comment accurately.
Thank you very much 🙏 Some elements of the playstyle are definitely unique (and arguably, sadistic) but there are a lot of great content creators out there using strong data-led focus. On UA-cam, I recommend Games Tell Stories Moneyball save, which has a good focus on both the data side and the storytelling aspect. For written stuff, check out the Steinkelsson blog I've linked in the description. He's always a fascinating read!!
Great video, love this series, keep up the good work. I will be playing like this soon, seems a bit scary for me, but really fun and different at the same time. Thanks
Thank you very much 🙏 Obviously I'm biased because I've been playing this way with obscured attributes for a long time, but I've found it very liberating - often find myself buying or playing players I normally wouldn't if I was looking at attributes alone (I often reveal them at the end of a save out of curiousity). That said, using data for recruitment doesn't need attributes to be obscured, and attributes can be a very useful way of making a decision if you narrow it down and can't choose between players.
I'm really fascinated by this approach and wanting to try it, love your explanation. However it seems the video is missing some information on exactly how to follow your steps. For example at 4:49 I am trying to apply the 'stats' screen that I have downloaded from your links, but FM23 is saying 'The view in file 'Stats' is not valid for the current panel'. I am sure I am doing something wrong but I feel I've followed every step in your video.
Views only work on certain pages. This view works on the Scouted Players page (I think it should work on the Player Search page, as well). It won't work on Shortlists or Squad pages.
I don't have a singular scouting view. The information I choose to export at any given time is based upon what I'm looking for at that moment, and even for generic exports, that "required" information evolves over time. This may be due to different information becoming more or less relevant in different match engines, or because there is still a specific focus (I don't like maintaining spreadsheets with millions of unnecessary cells). Because of the above, I don't keep templates. It encourages laziness, rather than assessing what is needed for the specific team and moment.
@@mustermannfm so can you talk about how to make stat like you? Like when i'm selecting a DM, i know what i need: Tackle, interception, block, header won but i just dont know how to select chart like you. Example: you choose Poss lost/90 and Excitement/90 for a chart to select the right forward for you. Do you have any ideas to help me filter the data optimally like you? Your video really got me interested in this data transfer. Thanks again for the answer.
@@ayaya5690 there isn't a single answer. It's about what you need for your team and tactic. Let's talk about your DM: What do you expect your DM to do in possession? Do you want him to sit deep and recycle possession? Do you want him to help break the press with progressive passes? Do you want him as a playmaker, dictating the game and creating chances from deep? Do you want him to get forward and support attacks? And then the same question for out of possession. Is his job to harass and break up play? Or do you want him to sit in front of the defence and restrict space? The answers to these questions will guide you in what statistics to look for. Also remember that raw defensive stats also depend on possession. Players in teams who dominate possession make fewer defensive actions, because they don't have to defend as often. And vice versa. Players in teams who defend a lot, have higher defensive actions.
Hi, just found your Channel & subbed straight away based on this one video!. I started to use some of these more detailed stats, after watching Cult FM`s Moneyball series - very interesting. I never used these before [ not sure when they came in? ]. I have not played FM every year but started with the original CM. I hope to watch along in FM24.
As many asked in the comments, could help us how to import the exact bubble charts using the Looker Studio. We can add the spreadsheets but we can't create the charts, the age bar, names, etc. Thanks
For using Looker Studio or Tableau (used by a lot of other FM creators - I just stuck to what I know) there are guides in the description. I am no expert on Looker Studio, and there are guides out there from people who are better equipped to do so. My guide would be very limited: Export the data you want Copy it into a spreadsheet Connect it to Looker Studio when you open up a new report Place a bubble chart Choose your metrics For filters, add a control
@@mustermannfm Thanks for your comment. I have created the chart bubble but i have some problems. First , how can i add more players names on top of the chart like you did, representing different colour bubble because my bubbles are all the same colour and only one name on top. Second, how can i add the transfer value bar on the left as its not regulatory measure like Age Third, i beleive you created 4 different pages/charts and share them in the dashboard in your video. Thanks
@@FalseNine.9 for the bubbles, you go to Style settings on the chart, and where it says "Bubble Colour" you choose one of the options. Transfer value was done manually, as in I went through and pulled the top value from the range for every player in the shortlist. Yes, there are different pages in the dashboard. I don't use a singular template. When looking to sign players I want to tailor the dashboard for the type of player I am looking for in that moment. That means I am often looking at different metrics each and every time, and that using the metrics I use here might not be appropriate for the team or tactic you are using. I would always recommend considering what it is that you expect a player to be doing first, and then choose your metrics accordingly.
@@mustermannfm I tried to do this with excel and it is easier i think. The only problem i have is i need to add each player and the data each time. Do you kow how to select all the players and data at the same time (Y and X) bars to add them in the bubble graph?
@@FalseNine.9 Are you still talking about colouring the bubbles? I'm afraid not. If I need a new chart where I've already setup the style, I'll just copy the existing and change the fields on the new one.
There is no blueprint. Annoyingly, I am one of those who is strongly against templates, as each use should be based on what you want/need for your own club/tactic. That changes the data I'd chose to export, the graphs I'd want to look at, etc...
Okay.. I'd love to do my own but I'm only familiar with excel which always changes stats like 1.12 into Dates and messes up the export. Its really annoying @@mustermannfm
First of all, thank you so much for your job and this insane skin. I've been playing this game since the first edition and this is the first time that one skin can change my playstyle in this game. I don't have words to describe how Happy make me found you. I've been some problems trying to use looker studio, i don't know how to do with the stats file, if you can help me, i'll aprecciate It.
Once you export from the game to html, you will have a file that will open in your browser. Copy the data from there into spreadsheet software of your choice. You will want to remove all "-" from the stats columns (using a find and replace all) to tidy it up. Then follow the guide in the description.
Unbelievable how good your videos are, really enjoy every single one. Could it be that the Mustermann Skin you use is a bit more updated than the one on fmscout? If so could you update it when you find time would be appreciated.
Thank you very much 🙏 This is the MPGD skin which is in the Dark Mode collection. The only difference between what is on video and in release is the colour scheme and I've disabled some screens (Player Search/Staff search) on my personal version. Oh, and I changed the Analytical report for that pointless Haaland joke. I should probably remember to change that back at some point 🤣
Just found your channel, and found alot of interesting video. You are awesome Mustermann. I followed your video but I cant import your Stat view on Player Scout, that only can import on player search, could you help me please?
Great Video! I was very interested in the Google Looker Studio side of things so after reading the guide, i saved and exported the players as you did in the video, but when I try to import it into google looker studio(doing it through the file upload google connector as I assume you did), it says the file has an "Invalid CSV format". Could you just touch on how you imported the file?
It can be the goal for FM24!!! That said, using data as the focus for transfers can be done even with the regular way of playing FM. Pick out a few statistics that matter for the role you're looking for, and prioritise this over attributes. Then cross your fingers and hope they can keep it up at your club 😂
Awesome video. I like and understand data anyway but vids like this really help me to think in different ways. Do you work in football? I suspect so but if not - you should :)
Really congratulations, it's an exceptional video for the content offered! (forgive my bad English) I hope I don't seem insolent but it's a question from a casual player: by chance have you made available somewhere the form you use in the video, the one to skim the players you found through the filter ? thanks anyway
Just to make sure I understand correctly: Are you asking for the "view" that allows you to export satistics from FM? If so, that is available here: www.mediafire.com/file/jspv1c999jr1xbp/Stats.fmf/file Or, are you asking for the "dashboard" with the scattergraphs? That is not shared, as it is created bespoke for the needs of this save specifically. It is not a one-size-fits-all. You should think about what you need specifically for the position you are trying to recruit and your tactical setup. There are then resources in the description for using external tools to create visualisations.
yes I meant the dashboard... I understand what you mean, recreating it would take up so much time that I would end up not playing anymore... thank you very much for what you do@@mustermannfm
A really cool and insightful video. Have you recorded your Ajax save? And if so where could I watch it. I'd really like to see it in action during your save as well, if possible.
Thank you 🙏 I don't record as a let's play, but there will be a video that covers the actual Ajax save. As with previous series on the channel, it will focus a little more on the story aspect. I'm going for an All or Nothing-esque mockumentary this time round, and should be out by the end of October.
There's a link to a guide in the description, or I would recommend searching for videos on YT. There are plenty better people out there for teaching you on using Looker Studio!!
@@mustermannfm Yes I just realized however I want to ask how did you manage to use the transfer value for the slider because when you export it from fm it comes with ranges and numbers with letters like 7M and 950k. Can you tell me how you formatted it into numbers that are usable in the lookers studio.(Hopefully it’s not manual because I don’t want to go through each cell and change values). Sorry for the lengthy comment and I appreciate any help.
@@mutasimhisham9339 it was manual, I'm afraid. Well, I used spreadsheet formulas. Can't remember if I keyed in on the minimum or maximum, but I used a SPLIT on "-" to separate out the values, then IF and SUBSITITUTE to convert K into thousands and M into millions.
@@ivocorreia9820 If you wish to disable player search, you need to edit Mustermann Iconic/sections/sidebar sections.xml, line 487: This needs to be changed to: You'll then need to save the file, reload the skin with caching off. If you also want to disable staff search, that is line 709: This needs to be changed to:
Can you make a tuto to export the data and use it on looker studio please mate I have difficulties to use my data, it don't recognize it on looker studio, you're the boss great vid as usual !
There is a link in the description for using Looker Studio. As for exporting - do what I did in the video. Print to Web Page. Open the file (it is in your Football Manager folder) and then copy and paste it into the spreadsheet software of your choice.
There are links in the description for using Looker Studio (what I use) or Tableau (what virtually everybody else uses). This is not my area of expertise, and so you will be better served looking up tutorials from those who are better informed on whichever piece of software you go for.
Where I've calculated metrics, I've put a summary of what they are on screen. That should be enough to work out the formula, right? If it says tackles won + headers won, for example, then the formula would be =sum(whatever column tackles is in+whatever column headers is in)
when the season finishes and the stats get deleted, a good way to get around this is to create a new save game before they do and import the stats from there.
That's a good tip! Also worth adding, that it's important to be mindful of when league seasons reset. You may need to also create saves late in the calendar year to access full season stats for those leagues that run between January-December (South America, Brazil, Scandinavia, etc...)
Question Mustermann! I am attempting to export some scouted players into Tableau to analyze them further. I did this successfully with my current squad, however I cant seem to find/create a view in FM to allow me to see chalkboard stats for players that aren't in my squad. Could you provide some assistance brother?
Should be the exact same process - have you tried building the view whilst you're on another squad page? Alternatively, build it in player search and then filter the search by club or division or whatever subset you are looking for.
Just found your channel and love these one shots (and the PAOK FM24 series. I bought FM23 a few months ago but have been too overwhelmed to start a save. Do you think if I used this skin I could still have a good 1st save experience (I feel the simpler layout and less deisgns will drive me to optimize less)? Also any recommendations on a 1st save in FM23 on a laptop to learn the game without getting too overwhelmed with all the choices?
Welcome aboard, and I'm glad you're enjoying it so far. Honestly, if you're starting out, I wouldn't recommend my skin, or any mod for that matter. Personally, I reckon there's more value in getting familiar with the core game first, and then look at ways to tailor it more to your preferred playstyle once you've got used to it a bit. I'd recommend when you start a save going to Staff -> Recommendations and delegating a lot of stuff to your staff members. Things like contracts and training. That way you can concentrate on just one or two areas. Also, I'd recommend starting with a team you're not familiar with. Player's attributes are, ultimately, subjective, and it can be very difficult to drop your own assumptions/beliefs about a player in favour of what the game is telling you about their ability and strengths. Taking over a team you know nothing about means you actually need to take a look at the information available and learn to understand what each thing does.
Promise last question ;-) I'm ready to start my attributeless main save. Have my spreadsheets & Looker ready. What I want to ask is, do you holiday for 1st season & save this file? Or do you just start & pick a team? would it be hard/easy or normal if I start unemployed no badges no experience? Any help on how you start would be appreciated.
I have no hard set rules for how to start. I've holidayed until a job becomes availble, I've started straight away. Depends ont the save and what I want to do. I do recommend making a save at end of each season to preserve the previous season's data, as it is otherwise lost forever, and there's definitely a challenge for the first transfer window if you start straight away as there's little to no performance data to make decisions on. I tend to play with player search off entirely, so I rarely make transfers in the first window anyway as the club usually don't know about many players to begin with anyway.
@@FM_Flop290 you need to edit Mustermann Iconic/sections/sidebar sections.xml To remove player search, find (line 487) and comment it out by putting after it. It should look like this: To remove staff search, it's the same process but for . If you are using a different skin, this file might not be present and you would need to extract it using the Resource Archiver.
Thank you very much, sir! Is it possible to add the same video for gk, wingback, winger and striker. And could you please 🙏 finish the skin. I’m begging you))
The skin is close to complete; but I'm not going to rush it. As mentioned in my channel update video, I have a lot of commitments going on, but things will be out when they're ready. The principles for other positions are the same. I will touch on other positions when I am playing a game that requires me to sign players in different positions. I am a big advocate for doing things in context of need. This video and the metrics chosen are closely related to the squad assessment and tactical videos in the series, as they inform what I am looking for.
It means how many times the player loses possession. As defined by the game. This could be being tackled, making a clearance to the opposition, having a pass interecepted, dribbling off the pitch, etc...
can you help me with the looker studio part i could not import the data to looker studio enev if i checked the link you gave. How can we import the data to looker studio to make graphs? Great video by the way.
You need to paste the data into a data source. I recommend Google Sheets, as a free alternative to Excel. Then you link the sheet to Looker Studio. It will prompt for you to add a Data Source when you open a new Looker Studio dashboard for the first time, but you can always add new sources from the Data Sources menu.
Sorry to dredge up comments on an old vid, but is there any way to share your looker studio views at all? I'm really just starting to try and get the hang of playing without attributes, but don't quite understand everything enough yet to make my own filters for looker just yet
No need to apologise! That said, even if you've only just started, I very strongly recommend creating your own filters based off your need. Just focus on one position at the moment. What do you expect from a player in that role? Which stats can indicate those things? Then build onto it when you need to look at another position, or decide that you want to change things. So, let's say for example, you use a Deep Lying Playmaker in a possession based system. You might want the playmaker to help break the lines through progressive passes, and provide killer balls. So you might choose progressive passes per 90, open play key passes per 90 and expected assists. Out of possession, you might want someone who actively harasses the opponent, and so pressures attempted per 90 might be useful. Just break it down logically, one step at a time.
That's a good video, but it would be even better to have a guide on player searches then make a view with key attributes and essential statistics for various roles and tactical requirements. It can be quite inconvenient to export data to Excel, evaluate, and then make a purchase decision.
Thank you for the feedback. I agree that exporting data to something external can be inconvenient. I also don't say that you have to. Here I am exploring my approach to statistical-led recruitment and, as mentioned in the video, I want to see certain calculated metrics that can't be viewed that way in game. The reason for each is explained in the video, how it applies to the tactical setup and personnel within this save. Unfortunately, I must apologise, as you will not get any attribute-related content from me - as explained in all my videos, I do not use numerical attributes and have player search disabled. It would be disingenous of me to put a guide out for a playstyle that I don't use. Thankfully, the majority of FM UA-cam plays use more traditional methods and there are some fantastic creators out there who might be more appropriate for what you are looking for 😁
As confirmed on Twitter, I will be adding Instant Result in FM24. Although for FM23 there are instructions for doing so in the FAQs on all places where the skin is availble for download.
@@Sincerly_tedAs mentioned in the video, Looker Studio. There is a link in the description with a guide on using it. There is also a link for an article on Tableau which many people speak highly of, though I don't use it myself.
This has been very interesting. Do you think that a DoF with a high enough negotiations attribute could negotiate better transfer deals and contract terms than you (or any other human player, for that matter)?
I've not done any testing on the subject, but I have definitely had the DoF negotiate contracts considerably lower than the Estimated Wage given by scouts/agents. This is something I haven't seen human players manage without giving away massive concessions elsewhere. That said, I've also seen plenty of times where the DoF negotiates transfer fees higher than expected. So maybe they're better with contract negotiations than transfer negotiations. I will temper this by saying that with attributes hidden for staff, I have no idea whether any DoFs I've used in previous saves have been any good 😂
@@mustermannfm Your playing style is definitely unique. Thanks for replying. Btw, your skin is one of the freshest things to have come to FM in a long time. Big thanks!
In my experience, if the Director of Football (DoF) has good attributes for judging player ability and negotiation (both higher than 17+must have if you are premier league club), they tend to negotiate contracts successfully about 9 out of 10 times better than us. However, when it comes to player transfers, a DoF often pays more than a human manager typically would. I've tried this with Chelsea and different DoFs in many saves with many many DoF, and the same conclusion holds. For instance, if your scouts have all the necessary attributes for judging players (around 17+), and they suggest a player will cost between 22-29 million, you can get creative with your offers. Typically, I use a technique where I offer 60% of the lower value 22, 30% in one year with three installments of 22, and 10% of the higher value with certain unfulfillable clauses. I usually reserve this method for emergency transfers and young players, as unsettling them can hinder their development. However, if I manage a big club, I prepare for a player two transfer windows in advance, aiming to unsettle(i assume you know these steps) them before making a bid when the timing is right. In previous editions of Football Manager, we could negotiate better deals and lower the price below the stated range. Still, in FM 23, we often have to pay more than the lower range, although you can aim to secure players for less than the higher range. Here's an additional tip: consider buying players outside of the transfer window when your club atmosphere and leadership support are relatively positive in the Dynamics tab. Always initiate transfer bids yourself, and once the bid is accepted, assign contract negotiations to the DoF. However, avoid giving full control of contract negotiations to the DoF From Staff>REsponsibility tab, as there may be times when you need a player at any cost, and the DoF might undervalue them.
I'm afraid I don't believe a template to be useful, as it will then presuppose the metrics you are looking for. I am a strong advocate to use your own agency and determine which metrics are important to you for the tactic you want to implement. There is a link to articles on how to then use Looker Studio or Tableau in the description.
Great video. I’ve wanted to get more into using statistic, although will probably keep my analysis to what can be done in game. That said, with one eye towards a new FM24 save, loading leagues and databases has once again piqued my interest. I’m glad you raise the differences between playable leagues and not in regards to usable data. I always load too many leagues as view only, so it’s hard to know whether the stats I’m seeing are valid or not. Any tips in this regard? I guess even in non loaded leagues, you’ll still have some players in the database that your scouts will bring you. How do you account for this?
In the Detail Level screen (FM Menu -> Game Status -> Detail Level) you can set the level of detail by country. This helps the game distinguish which leagues it should simulate in full detail, and which leagues it should simulate using what is known as the Quick Match Engine (QME). The QME will result in different calculations to the regular Match Engine. By and large, the input is still the same. The statistics you get back are still based, in part, on a player's attributes. This means that they don't become useless or unusable, but just that you can't really compare directly to those matches being used in the regular ME. Generally, I just like to be conscious of the difference and only really tend to discount someone completely if their statistical output is a huge outlier.
@@mustermannfm Interesting, as I thought that the simulation of a match and thus the statistics was different between playable and view only leagues. Maybe I've got that wrong and the playable/view only just affects the transfer market, manager movements and youth intakes. I went back and note that you have full detail in every league you've got loaded. Crazy! I only have ever put full detail in my league, plus a good variety of continental and international matches, but load 40-50 leagues with a combination of playable/view only. How do you find the processing speed of the Ajax setup? I'm thinking of doing a Hamburg save, with much fewer leagues than I'm used to adding, but with more detail. Always a balancing act and have enjoyed Davincid's work on explaining the detail level/playble difference. Always more to learn!
@@brianp993 as said, the calculations are different at different levels, but they're still using the same inputs (attributes, teams, reputation, etc...). So even though that means the data isn't directly comparable, the results should still be indicative of a players capacity to perform. For example, if a player is creative, this will be represented in their statistical output regardless of which ME their games are processed under. For the One Shot series, I've kept the leagues loaded low. 7 for Ajax, just 5 on the others. This is because they are just single season challenges so I don't need a fully developed world to develop. I'm not a very efficient player (regularly tab out) so most processing hold ups are caused by me rather than the game's processing ability 🤣 In longer term saves, I tend to only load relevant leagues to the team I'm at. For example, when in South Africa, I had geographically nearby leagues (around Indian Ocean), reputationally similar leagues (MLS, Mexico, etc...) and then countries where there is often movement (Belgium, Netherlands). I would then add/remove leagues depending on where my next job is.
@@mustermannfmsorry mate, coming fast to this.. is any possibility to disable the search bar on the top of FM (almost) all screens, too? Or “pick attributes” pannel on scouting sections?
Can i ask you how you did the dashboard? Probably python, but i would love to know the library, because I'm trying to do something similar, but BOKEH only allows to hide the points with clicking the name in the legend and only hides it in one plot
@@theitalianmister1633 whilst I'll always try to be as concise as possible in videos, if there are any extra steps I will try and show them. The only thing not shown here is copying the exported data into a spreadsheet. Even that's too boring for me to show 🤣
@@mustermannfm I know haha😂 just a quick question about the pie charts in your skin: you say the value you display in them are percentile, with which league do you compare the stats of your players?
@@theitalianmister1633 It is the Top 20 leagues according to the SPI (at the time of simulating - which last would've been March 2023). A series of seasons were then simulated in game, and all players in those leagues with 1000 minutes played were used for calculations - approximately 14,500 records.
Great video mate well done I’ve watched your Villa and Sampdoria videos and the content different and found it enjoyable keep it up! I’ve had your skin a while but I’ve never properly got down to using it as a found it strange not using with attributes (I’ve got that one too think am used to one been using for a while and looks weird when change 😂) but I’ve been struggling lately with playing fm recently always go thru this phase I’ve only had one season save was enjoyable with Strasbourg and can’t get into another one, so thinking now after watching this video start a new save and ive applied your skin without the attributes give it a bash one last save before fm24, do you have any tips for someone starting without attributes ?
Firstly, thank you 🙏 I think there's only a couple of tips I can give. Choose a team/save with a team that you know a little bit about, but not everything. Maybe there's one or two players in the team that you like, and have a vague idea about. Secondly, try your best to pay attention to performance. When you're used to focussing on attributes, it's very easy to fall back on preconceived ideas of who *should* be good. With obscured attributes, it can be very liberating, as you'll end playing and signing players you normally wouldn't, and if you let performances dictate who starts you'll enjoy things more!
@@mustermannfm yeah I try stay away from all big team saves and go anyone that can build up hence a was Strasbourg that was enjoyable only knew two players, Like using the data for signing players I normally wouldn’t aswell.
@@sauzeee9550 there's obviously an element of trial and error. You eventually get used to what things you value in a player and what to look for for your specific tactical style, but it's definitely helped me love the game once again. Unearthing those players you'd never normally sign and them going on to be incredible, is such a good feeling! Like Mees Hilgers. I've now got to the end of this save, and seen his attributes. Never in a million years would I have signed him if I knew them beforehand. Yet, he's been absolutely sensational.
@@mustermannfm yeah think I’m going to enjoy this one fingers crossed just because I’ll need play the season get used to it. Hopefully I’ll be same sign a player that’s got terrible attributes but he’s top player for me 😂, I’ve went with Granada just been promoted to la liga, is there a way a can change the colours of the banner of club and dots on the skin ? Thanks
@@sauzeee9550 first, good luck. The link in the description takes you the forum where there are instructions for changing the colour scheme. There are alternative colour schemes provided, or you can do it yourself - which involves editing the settings/[skin name] settings.xml file.
To HTML (or specifically Print as Web Page, as shown in the video). Then open the html. Copy the cells and paste it into the spreadsheet software of your choosing.
As said in the video, I don't use Tableau, but there is an article linked in the description which goes through connecting your data and creating visualisations.
@@ElhadjDiallo-u6x I think you should be able to use the colour theme settings file from the FM24 version with the FM23 version. From what I recall there are a couple of parameters that I added for FM24, but none that I took away - so it shouldn't cause any issues.
I'm sorry, I won't be. I am not an expert with Looker Studio. There are probably many who are on UA-cam. Watch some tutorials. Read some articles. They will help you better than I ever could.
@@mustermannfm No prob, man, thanks anyway. Glad you're enjoying the skin!
I would recommend taking a read through the Looker Studio guide in the description. It does a far better job than I could do.
Will do @mustermannfm :)
It is new for me playing this way, but I have been playing FM/CM since 99/00 so it is really refreshing :)
In terms of the data and metrics you combine to get some insight in the perfomances of the players like the excitement factor, I would really like to see some more of that for inspiration, and not so much the technicalities of setting it up in a practical level in Looker. Hope it makes sense :)?
@@MrJacobpals I'll see what I can do, but might struggle to do a full video on it. The process isn't very complex:
What do I want attacking players to do?
Exciting things.
What are exciting things?
Shots and dribbles.
What metrics measure shots and dribbles?
Shots, passes leading to shots (key passes), dribbles, dribbles that would've been if the opponent hadn't fouled them (fouls won).
It is sadly as straightforward and uninspired as that.
Thanks! :)
Do you plan on making an episode about finding wonderkids/future 1st Team prospects by using data?
@@MrJacobpals I don't plan that explicitly. Instead I respond to the topics that come up in the course of playing, as I believe it is far more useful using real scenarios than setting up conditions. I will be soon starting my main FM24 career which, unlike the previous series, will be over many seasons (hoping I don't get sacked), so I imagine this topic may come up.

Not sure I agree with "terrific humour" - it's passable at best 🤣 but grateful for the compliment anyway.
Reading data is absolutely no different to reading attributes. Just takes a little time to get used to it!!!
Thanks for replaying . U are right , i got used to it only in 2 days . I did created list of players and import it into Tableau and created 4 sheets then i droped them into dashboard and everything looked perfect , the only thing that i didnt know how to execlude player from all sheets by one click , i have to do that over the whole dashboard witch makes my life hard 😂😂😂
If its something i need to learn in Tableau please put a link where can i improve using it .

Thank you very much, dude 🙏
I'd love to release more frequently. Still need to learn how to do things quicker without compromising quality. Or I need to not sleep. One or the other 😂.
A good idea for a video. I don't necessary have a thought process for picking teams, but might be good to explore some interesting teams.
Amazing content! Is there a way we can gain access to this so I can implement this into my own saves?
Big love from France, this is like playing a new game 😍
Merci!! Glad you're enjoying it!

Firstly, thank you 🙏
These videos are recorded at 1920x1080.
Great series. Looking forward to your plans for FM24.
Thank you 🙏
And good timing on the comment; next week I plan on doing a little update on FM24 plans!!
This is so unique and effective ❤ Nice one Mustermann
Thank you very much 🙏
Some elements of the playstyle are definitely unique (and arguably, sadistic) but there are a lot of great content creators out there using strong data-led focus.
Thanks
Thank you very much 🙏
Obviously I'm biased because I've been playing this way with obscured attributes for a long time, but I've found it very liberating - often find myself buying or playing players I normally wouldn't if I was looking at attributes alone (I often reveal them at the end of a save out of curiousity).
It won't work on Shortlists or Squad pages.
sorry to bother on old vid. But can i have your scouting view in fm24? Love this vid a lot.
Let's talk about your DM:
What do you expect your DM to do in possession?
@@mustermannfm thanks a lot for those answer. Two more question: can i ask you back when i need help. And if you said yes, where can i ask you 🫡
@@ayaya5690 sure, and the best place is probably here or Twitter
Hi, just found your Channel & subbed straight away based on this one video!. I started to use some of these more detailed stats, after watching Cult FM`s Moneyball series - very interesting. I never used these before [ not sure when they came in? ]. I have not played FM every year but started with the original CM. I hope to watch along in FM24.
Welcome, and thank you 🙏
They've been incrementally adding more advanced statistics each year, so hopefully we'll get even more next year!!
My guide would be very limited:
Export the data you want
Copy it into a spreadsheet
Connect it to Looker Studio when you open up a new report
Place a bubble chart
Choose your metrics
For filters, add a control
@@mustermannfm Thanks for your comment.
I have created the chart bubble but i have some problems.
First , how can i add more players names on top of the chart like you did, representing different colour bubble because my bubbles are all the same colour and only one name on top.
Second, how can i add the transfer value bar on the left as its not regulatory measure like Age
Third, i beleive you created 4 different pages/charts and share them in the dashboard in your video.
I love this! Is there any chance you could post your Looker Studio Blueprint? I am really struggling with creating my own
There is no blueprint.

This is the MPGD skin which is in the Dark Mode collection. The only difference between what is on video and in release is the colour scheme and I've disabled some screens (Player Search/Staff search) on my personal version. Just to make sure I understand correctly:
Are you asking for the "view" that allows you to export satistics from FM? If so, that is available here: www.mediafire.com/file/jspv1c999jr1xbp/Stats.fmf/file
Or, are you asking for the "dashboard" with the scattergraphs? That is not shared, as it is created bespoke for the needs of this save specifically. It is not a one-size-fits-all. You should think about what you need specifically for the position you are trying to recruit and your tactical setup. There are then resources in the description for using external tools to create visualisations.
yes I meant the dashboard... I understand what you mean, recreating it would take up so much time that I would end up not playing anymore... thank you very much for what you do@@mustermannfm

How do you manage to accurately combine the KPIs into one metric, please show the formula

@mustermannfm actually I noticed you don't have player search. Can you enlighten me on how you turn this off please?
@@FM_Flop290 you need to edit Mustermann Iconic/sections/sidebar sections.xml

Is there a way to help with creating a looker? @fm_flop290
Dear@@mustermannfm ,
Thank you for your clear and precise answer. Appreciate it
BR
what possession lost mean in pizza chart? doe it mean player lost ball %?
@@mustermannfm Thank you so much.
Thankfully, the majority of FM UA-cam plays use more traditional methods and there are some fantastic creators out there who might be more appropriate for what you are looking for 😁
Phenomenal stuff!
Thank you very much, dude 🙏 really appreciated
Can't wait to use it on FM24. But you should add instant result button
As confirmed on Twitter, I will be adding Instant Result in FM24. Although for FM23 there are instructions for doing so in the FAQs on all places where the skin is availble for download.
@mustermannfm that's gonna be the best skin ever but which tools did you use for your data comparison ?
@@khemrajbudha7955 thank you for your in-depth explanation!
Could you make a template for the looker studio file?
I'm afraid I don't believe a template to be useful, as it will then presuppose the metrics you are looking for. I am a strong advocate to use your own agency and determine which metrics are important to you for the tactic you want to implement.
There is a link to articles on how to then use Looker Studio or Tableau in the description.
@@mustermannfm alright, no problem. May i ask how you combined the groups into defensive actions though? Thanks

@@mustermannfm thanks mate!
@@mustermannfm how did you get the per 90 stat?
I'm not a very efficient player (regularly tab out) so most processing hold ups are caused by me rather than the game's processing ability 🤣
In longer term saves, I tend to only load relevant leagues to the team I'm at. For example, when in South Africa, I had geographically nearby leagues (around Indian Ocean), reputationally similar leagues (MLS, Mexico, etc...) and then countries where there is often movement (Belgium, Netherlands). I would then add/remove leagues depending on where my next job is.

Firstly, thank you 🙏
I think there's only a couple of tips I can give.
