    Can you explain what APIT is and what it entails please? How is the 1 mile swim conducted, what does it consist of entirely? What was the most difficult part of API for us to prepare for in advance? Thanks! Great video!

      APIT is the introductory fitness test you have to take. It consists of situps, pushups, and a timed mile and a half run on a chip trail. The standards are Good Low. Good Low is different for each age group and gender. Look up "Navy PRT Standards" to find what you need to pass.
      The mile swim is indoors in an Olympic size swimming pool. Its 5-6 people per lane doing a circuit around buoys. 36 laps (down and back) to finish. Can utilize the crawl, breast, or side stroke to complete it. Can swap between the strokes as well.
      I have not gone through API yet but, from what I have heard, the academics are the worst of it. So, start studying when transferred to Pensacola.

    What happens if NAMI finds you don't meet the requirements to fly?

      I dont personally know. Id imagine you would get redesignated or given the option to leave.

    For SNAs, how long are you in Pensacola for before moving on to a different place? I know you do IFS, API, & water survival there but I’m not sure how long that takes. And where are the locations for TW5 and TW4?

      Just curious on how long I’d be in Pensacola for after OCS as a SNA

    • @FaithByFlight
      @FaithByFlight  3 роки тому +1

      Depends on how well you do. The system has changed to NIFE, so I dont know how long it takes overall anymore. You can expect up to a year out there depending on medical status and ability. Ability pertaining to learning and flight.
      TW5 is in Milton
      TW4 in Corpus

    What was your overall timeline between ocs and starting api? I just got all my paperwork from school in and already accepted as sna so I'm expecting to start ocs around April and I'm married so I'm searching for any info to make plans after ocs. If you get to this comment thanks in advance and thanks for the videos, they've been awesome!

      After graduating OCS, I went on OHARP for 3 months. Definitely do OHARP. Its one of the few instances where you can relax while getting paid. The guys that forfeited their OHARP and went straight here aren't ahead at all.
      I got to Pensacola in November 2019 and have an API slot for mid February 2020. The timeline is different for everyone. If you have a Private Certificate or greater, you can expect to be here for 5-7 months depending on the backup. If you do not have a Private, then you will be here much longer. There are people that have been here since July of 2019 that have not gotten an API slot and it is now March 2020. So, if you have your Private (or greater), awesome, you're gonna get out of here relatively quick. If not, then get a hobby while you're down in PCola.
      Also, if you speak with flight management about moving you up for any of the evolutions here, NAMI, APIT, or Swim, they will work with you. Most of the time, you just gotta ask. IFS and API wont budge due to the line, but the others have some wiggle.
      Also, congrats on getting the SNA slot. It's gonna be an awesome career. Keep pushing and work hard.

      @@FaithByFlight I'm starting OCS Aug. 16th and was also selected for SNA. Do you think I would have time after OCS to get my private pilot's license and do you think it would help reduce the wait time in A-Pool or is the PPL something I would need before going to OCS?

    Could you do a video on officer pay? All the videos I’ve seen mostly talks about enlisted and the ones that do mention officers doesn’t refer to aviators and could you explain how your rank is determined by performance? To my understanding it seems like how well you do in API determines your rank. Thanks in advance

    • @FaithByFlight
      @FaithByFlight  4 роки тому

      I can try to at some point. But MAJOR misunderstanding/bad gouge on rank. Rank is determined by years in service for the first four years. But I will try to clarify better at some point.
