    Dude you saved us! Thank you so much! We’re currently on a trip in Italy and the car kept overheating. Thanks to your “mouth on” approach we got it bled properly in no time ❤️

    Lol. I was just doing this yesterday. Finally decided to blow in the expansion tank to get the last bit of air from the bleeder screw. I felt like a visionary and then I came across this video. Lmao

    I also do the CPR trick on the coolant tank. It helps to pinch off the overflow hose at the filler neck while you're doing it.

    • @ComeauRacingEnterprises
      @ComeauRacingEnterprises  2 роки тому +2

      Yes, you have to pinch off the overflow hose or the air will escape there instead of forcing the coolant down thru the hoses.

    Was this the car that had the oil cooler seal fail? I totally wasn't expecting oil to seep from the coolant bleeder. Also, thanks for the tips! There are so many voodoo procedures about everything in this car.
    I made a venturi vacuum pump and plumbed it up to pull a vacuum and then suck in coolant from the bottle. It worked pretty well. I like your method better.

    • @timcomeau420
      @timcomeau420 3 роки тому +5

      Yes! You're right about the oil cooler seals having failed in this car.....along with the tranny's ring and pinion, the steering rack, etc....LOL! That's why the customer gave up, threw in the towel, and sold it to me. I ain't a-scared a no 944. There's still some residual oil in the cooling system, and just like the air, it will come to the top and get bled out. Maybe we'll drain the coolant and do one more heat cycle with the SHOUT laundry detergent, which doesn't foam up. Good on you, Tim S., for not incorrectly diagnosing the oil in the coolant as a head gasket failure. :)

    • @timcomeau420
      @timcomeau420 3 роки тому +2

      We put the engine thru another heat cycle ( warm up, fans come on, fans shut off ) with the thermostat removed and just water and SHOUT!. Got the rest of the oil residue out of the cooling system. :)

    Great video! thanks! I will try that first. I think my cooling fans arent working. Not sure what temp they are supposed to come on, but I had the temp gauge all the way on high and they didnt come on. Will check the relay and see if the motors are working.

    • @timcomeau420
      @timcomeau420 2 роки тому

      If you think the fans aren't working, just short the fan switch wires together. They should come on, which means your relay, fuses, fans are good.

    great video and very simple and to the point!! i have my own problem !! just have new thermostat water pump timing belt service done...car seems to be leaking antifreeze but seems to be only coming from expansion tank overflow...i have no leaks anywhere...i'm really confused...any suggestions?

    • @ComeauRacingEnterprises
      @ComeauRacingEnterprises  Рік тому +1

      Could be several things. Make sure your tank isn’t overfilled make sure your tank cap is down all the way and tight. timing belt tension is what drives the water pump. Make sure the thermostat is opening by putting your hand on the lower radiator hose next to the radiator. Feel For heat.

    Hey Tim, what is your opinion on the "steam vent kits" that add an air bleed port to the back of the cylinder head?

    • @ComeauRacingEnterprises
      @ComeauRacingEnterprises  2 роки тому +2

      I understand the idea behind them is to get rid of an air pocket. I think this was a treatment for uneven cylinder head temp around the number four cylinder. I’ve never run one in and normally aspirated car. No problems.

  • @cek347

    I just got my belts and water pump done. I had the radiator out and flushed it with water outside the car. Got it all back together and filled and bled but I wasnt getting heat. I ran it until thermostat opened up. Couple steps I can do to problem solve? Thanks.

    • @ComeauRacingEnterprises
      @ComeauRacingEnterprises  3 роки тому

      Make sure the heater control valve is physically opened. Water topped off, air bled out, rev the engine or even drive it a little bit to get the air to come to the top

    How do you remove oil from the cooling system after a oil cooler seal replacement???

    • @ComeauRacingEnterprises
      @ComeauRacingEnterprises  Рік тому +1

      We use water and shout laundry detergent. The detergent will suspend the oil in the water then drain the system. Do this without a thermostat in place. After it’s warm for the lower radiator hose and let it drain

      Yes, see above comment. You're right, there's a lot of crap info out there from people who aren't even 944 guys. They're regular car guys and much of their experience doesn't apply to our 944 types. I can't correct all their misinformation so I just shoot a video and give owners and enthusiasts the most accurate info I can, based on years of experience working on nothing but 944's.
