    Excellent presentation mate. Just bought one with the Europe spec, mystifying why they don’t tell you how to get the extra bits. One thing, please keep your bloody hand out the way. Lmao. Thanks. Learned more here than from the ham dude I bought it from. Cheers 6YB167

    You can change the 7900 on the front left bottom display to your own call sign as I did, but you do need a programming lead to do so. Its a very nice radio to use, the best is the CTSS on board to get the repeaters.

    Hi Mike -Excellent video - I would disagree however that CRT is "not that well known". Pretty much all of the stations here in the SE of England run a CRT radio mainly the 6900N, 9900 or the CRT 2000H. CRT offer amazing value and performance and compared to the likes of President of which I have owned many of their radios in the past but now I am complete CRT convert! I did post a feature on our "Channel 38 CB Group" Facebook group about your new UA-cam Channel as I loved the drone footage linked with the CB content - very original and professionally shot and edited. Please feel free to send us a request to join on our page if you would like to join us..I am very tempted by the 7900 and like you I buy my radios from Knights - always great service. Did you find the power output was accurate as quoted? Also is the echo function adjustable within the menu or is it inside the radio? Many thanks 73 Rob

      Yes, I agree Robert, I didn't really explain to well by what I meant about 'not that well known', I should of said, not well known by old gits like me who we're CB'ers back in the 80s with brands like York, Cobra, Midland, Amstrad etc LOL! Thanks for the invite, I plan to get on FB sometime soon. I do plan to test the 7900 power output with a Bird Meter while venturing into checking its deviation and modulation set up

    Hi Mike just received my 7900 from Knights - re your video the only illumination I have is on the main display none of my buttons are illuminated - is this the same as yours? Also do you know what function number 2 does on the menu? (NOG) aka monitor gain? Not come across this one before thanks Rob

    • @CharlieTangoCBUK
      @CharlieTangoCBUK  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Robert, yes, mine is the same illumination wise, but the main screen seems to light the buttons below it a little. The NOG Monitor allows you to monitor your microphone output via an external speaker if you have one plugged in. Handy for testing mic quality and comparing, but set too high, you'd obviously get feed back. I managed to pick up my Rhode & Schwartz Power Head up today so will be measuring power in all modes as about as accurate as you can get. Also doing a car installation video into my new truck . Glad you got your rig, what antenna have you gone for Robert?

    • @robgibbsofficial
      @robgibbsofficial 4 роки тому

      @@CharlieTangoCBUK Hi Mike - I'm delighted with the radio - many thanks for clarifying about the button illumination as well. I own a 6900 and have owned the 9900 in the past and the 7900 feels like a cross between the 2 of them which is a real positive. My home base antenna is a Solarcon Max 2000 which is fantastic - I'd highly recommend it! 73 Rob

      @@robgibbsofficial Hi Robert, I am in the market for one of these but I am still unsure as to which of the 6900, 9900 or 7900 to go for. Reviews and opinions vary quite a lot, Personally I am leaning towards the 7900 as the better quality middle ground rig, It seems to be more popular amoung radio enthusiasts rather than the CB'er chasing the power numbers. (no offense meant, but you know the ones I am on about)
      Now you have lived with the 7900 a bit has your opinion changed at all?

    • @robgibbsofficial
      @robgibbsofficial 4 роки тому +1

      @@MrGrunter it's really down to personal choice - I've owned all 3 radios and they all have pros and cons - pure VFM the 6900 wins and it has variable echo on the outside of the radio and customisable Roger beep from the outside again. The 7900 feels more refined and I love the display but not a fan of the modular plug and non outside adjustables for echo - I like to run a minimum echo so it just adds an edge and that's all. The 6900 needs the KPO NM532 mic as the stock mic isn't that great. The 9900 is an excellent radio but gets very hot particularly on FM but mine never blew! I'm also a massive fan of President McKinley which you should also consider - fantastic audio reports with the Zetagi MB+5 desk mic - hope this helps Rob

    I've noted that the CRT SS-6900n V6 seems to have some spurs, about 2.5MHz either side of the fundamental frequency - in SSB mode. Have you seen anything like this with the 7900?

    13:13 you mention you can change the time it takes to scan? I can only find an adjustment as to what action it takes when it finds a busy channel - i.e. wait for a preset time or continue after a period of time (non-adjustable) -- I'm looking at menu 5 Scan type -- is there more?

    Thanks for your overview, I've purchased one of these and you have mentioned the the Echo is adjustable in your review. I've tried my echo out and it has an over powering high voltage sound carrier signal over the top of the modulation, modulation isn't understandable due to this extraordinary loud over head oscillation hum. I cannot find any function on this CRT 7900 to adjust the echo. I dont believe this is adjustable unless you can suggest otherwise and how to adjust this function, then please feel free to help if your have managed to work it out?

    The company CRT are French and have been about since the late 90s they are not a new company as was quoted in this video ,they always had a reputation of being bad quality control at one time

      I stand educated, thanks Nubby. I'm quite impressed with the quality of the 9700 so far. It was just my subjective opinion, I'd never heard of them before but then again, my last rig was a York Rig from 1981 LOL! I'm an old git

      Hi Dave, I have ordered a new SINAD meter as my ancient one is dead, I'm hoping it arrives by the end of next week. I will compare it to Yaesu7 857D and a Cobra 148 GTl

      @davewalker7126 4 роки тому

      @@CharlieTangoCBUK Thank you. In its frequency comfort zone I would expect the 7900 to be superior to the 857, subjectively (without test eq) I think its better than my 891 and pro3 on 11m
