Good info for this radio and Power mic, bit like back in 81/82 when we rushed out and bought echo mic and put it all on full, what a mess the breaking channel was with bad audio, and then the Echo box came along, Take care Fred. 56CT004 Glenn
Good stuff Fred. Yeah.. you did a similar video sometime ago, but it's all good. Many times a "Noob" will find a YT channel they like, but because the channel has so many videos it's easy to over look something as specific as this one, so it's great you've done another 👍
Hi Fred great video as usual and interesting comments on the standard mic vs a power mic. I have a Alinco DX10 and a Lincoln 2+ plus my Ham rigs being a Licensed ham. My EMS70 mic I modded as I agree the audio was very low and toppy.. So I tried a number of ideas as I wanted to try. I firstly increased the size of the hole for the electret element to 3 mm and because the mic was very light and I like my mics to have a bit of weight I put in a small piece of insulated metal and some acoustic foam to fill any cavities causing hollow audio.. I also wound up the mic gain to 63 which might sound excessive but seems to work well with the DX10 and this mic.. Interestingly enough nostalgia got the better of me and I bought an old Astatic teardrop M575 because of its audio properties (I did the buzz mod to it to stop it humming) and as it had a tone control and a decent bit of gain if needed.. Believe it or not although the teardrop Is a brilliant Mic the standard modded mic gives a better result than both my power mics even my Adonis 508. That being said I’m a tinkerer so I’m comfortable doing these mods and that’s the fun of radio isn’t it and sharing what we’ve learned.. Best 73’s Marky P Aka 26PM003 / M0PPK.
I have a DX 10 also. The little mic that came with it is brilliant. Never had a bad audio report. I also have a proper teardrop which I use with my cobra 148 GTL DX. They were made for each other🌚
Hi Fred, I got myself a SS 6900n radio and on certain USB channels I get the BUSY logo come up with a bleep, Any idea what it is or how to get rid? thx :)...Great video btw :).
Hi, i have a 6900n with a kpo power mic, and a sharp shooter mic, both have started squealing when i key up. Only just starting having problems after 2 years with no probs, any ideas
HELLO SIR , CAN YOU TELL ME if this kpo 532 needs some mods for the 6900 to work properly? i know that the 6900 have two pin with 5 volts , o guess if i just put it in i will damage the radio , thanks in advanbce ,.
@@CB-RADIO-UK thank you for your answer, i did buy this mic it is pretty good but now i have another problem, when transmitting the speaker reproduces my voice and gives feedback to mic and then high-frequency sounds on the radio and in transmission also due to the audio feedback, when i put the original mic on it does the same without the feedback because the original is very low in sound level,, do you have any idea on that? is it an adjustment somewhere in the software on the radio ?
Yeah put one of them mics on my Anytone AT 6666 as like you soft voice. I just brought a Alinco dx 10 for the car and will be travelling from Norfolk to Tottenham tomorrow so hope to catch you on 305 if you about??
Your display dims as the power supply isn't good enough. It can not supply the current without voltage drop. Is it a cheap chinese switching mode one? If you use a car battery you will not have the dimming problem, that is how to test.
At 24:00 this definitel shows a PSU fault, peaks current draw is lowering voltage. Put a suitable PSU on and you will get more RF power as that is probably quite limited now. So many people with mis-aligned radios on there.
Not sure . Ive run the radio on all different power supplies from 10 -33 amp and it does the same thing. I can run a 100 w HF radio on the same supply without any issue so i dont think its the PSU. It does not effect the radios performance.
I tested 6 different microphones on that radio and they were all bad. I get the best audio with an alto ZMX862 mixer and a Behringer XM8500 microphone.
Yes they were off freq that day. It was very odd conditions (same day on the last 2 vids) that day. Everyone was either high or low. Problem with the clicky clarify is it mutes.
I really don't get why you would turn the mic gain right down on the radio and use a power mic to make yourself loud enough! That is like putting a cover over a light bulb and buying a much brighter one so the room is bright enough. It doesn't make sense what you are doing. If the transmitted radio audio is too low, turn the gain control up on the radio - problem solved.
I think its more a comfort thing. You can drive the radio just as hard with a power mic held relaxed style away from your mouth. If you just turn up the mic gain on a standard mic its not the same and its easy to distort the audio.

Good video Fred, have just got a kpo DX5000 for mobile use, looks much the same, thanks for explaining the menu function 👍73s

Yes i do have a setting of the mic gain video on the channel but your right hardly anyone searches.
I enjoyed that Fred mate. Hope you're well man
Excellent advise,,,,had this same problem myself with the k,po ,,,,,,,
Thanks for the info..always useful to a noobi... finaly my station works..A99 and crt9900... know i can start se if i hear u 😉 73... M14

i toke the filter that is cover inside mic and put the mic power on radio to 80% and it works very good
That's exactly why I got the CRT SS 7900 plays perfectly and yes the 6900 is well I don't like the part even the 9900 is great when it is overhauled 😉
Top tip...
A carefully placed spot of "hot glue gun" glue at the max spot, where you can only slide back, and not forward! 😉
in the radio ,change the mic dinamic to electric -to use preamplifire mic will work nice

I think the busy symbol is just showing the radio is receiving. Normally if you turn up the squelch to block the signal it should go out.
U can always talk across sideways too,TalkBack is mainly for checking your mike
Thanks for the advice Fred. Have the DX5000 with a 532 and there is an issue with overdrive. Cheers mate. 26CT9484
good info fred
Fred is there a menu setting for Electret or Dynamic mic. The kpo dm110 is Dynamic.
Hi Mike. No not that iam aware of.
Hi, i have a 6900n with a kpo power mic, and a sharp shooter mic, both have started squealing when i key up. Only just starting having problems after 2 years with no probs, any ideas
Strange they just started. I would try reducing the mic gain on the radio right down.
Hi fred can the power be turned up from inside the 6900n
Hi yes all the way down to 1 watt

Hello. Yes you need to know the correct wiring. This video should help. ua-cam.com/video/stIVmt5d0LA/v-deo.html

You'll love that little alinco. I love mine. Don't change the mic👍
@@zukispur5493 no I've stuck to the original mic.
@@BravoBravo-ct7yg nice little mics. I've never had a bad mod report re my one
Oh no 6 million people bought these mics based on your recommendation
It is a great mic once you have everything set correctly
My solution is to set the mike gain on the radio half way then the power mike half way.
how is the microphone gain set for the kpo 532,
For my radio i prefered it low. Try 15-30 first.

Gave up on the 532. Mic gain and slider made no difference. Must be a duff mic. 110 works much better.
I find the 110 gets very good reports.
