    Hi MK Leathers,
    Did you use oil based dye? Do you use any top coats for your projects to make them water resistant? I saw that you used some kind of leather wax to buff, will that be enough because I feel sometimes that top coats can change the color of the project. Do you have any good wax to recommend to make the leather shiny and relatively water resistant?

    Beautiful work! First time I've seen that dying technique! I have a couple questions if you dont mind.
    1) What do you use for a top/finish coat after dying, and do you apply before or after stitching?
    2) Do you dye the insides/backside of the leather also?
    3) Were those edges burnished or painted? They look so sharp and straight. Beautiful!
    Thanks and have a good one! Just subbed!

    • @mkleathers3453
      @mkleathers3453  6 років тому

      Hi, thanks for the comment. The biggest one is the back. After assembling of the front slots (as shown) you glue it on the 4th part. To for the main compartment. It's a square slightly bigger than the one showed ant the start. Just add some margin so you can cut straight edges.

    Why is it that in a lot of these UA-cam leather build alongs, the craftman always lays the leather down and pets it before doing any work on it? Is this a sort of religious or animistic ritual? Does it help with anything? Does it make the leather more willing to yield to your plans for it?

    • @proteanprojects
      @proteanprojects 6 років тому

      Honestly when I work with leather I do it to check for any inconsistencies that might not be visible to the naked eye, as the sense of touch is much more sensitive. But I agree that a lot of videos place a little too much emphasis on it. Kind of like an awkward hug that lasts a few seconds too long.

    • @philochristos
      @philochristos 6 років тому +1

      Ha! That is a perfect analogy.

    • @mkleathers3453
