Remember Jordan played 3 years of college ball versus Lebron coming straight into the league. This is just a small sample of why Lebron James will never be the G.O.A.T. Those of us from the Jordan era got to see him showcase his greatness every time he played. Yes you can talk about Lebron's talent all day but as you can see he is not on Jordan's level. Jordan would have been GREAT in any era. There is Jordan and then there is everyone else.

Completely agree......not to mention, Jordan was playing against some of the games greatest players in history (Magic, Bird, Gary Peyton, Ewing, etc.) Lebron isn't playing against anybody that is mentioned with those names.....then even when he was over 40 years old, he came back & at any given moment would put up 30+ points against guys that were in their primes....shit, didn't he have 1 or 2 games in a Wizards uniform where he had 50 points??....he walked into the Atlanta Hawks locker room and told them "better suit up, it's gonna be a long night"....then proceeded to drop 60 points on them that night....

Jordan was unreal....all due respect to Magic, Kareem, Bird, Dr.J, Kobe , Lebron and all the other greats, they were incredible, but Jordan was just on another level. His athleticism, size, hands, leaping ability off 1 or 2 feet , shot creativity, mid- range, drives , 3 when needed ,defense etc. Is unique in it's own right. The combination of all these attributes to go with his skill set, very high basketball IQ,mental toughness and killer instinct sets this guy apart from all the other greats, not to mention the fact he always had a flair for the dramatic and just was beautiful to watch with mad swag.

    • @thomasdemay9805

alot of people criticize Jordan for low 3 pt percentage but he was at very beginning of 3 pt era. There was no 3 pt shot when he was a kid or playing high school ball. he went to UNC coached by "4 corners" Dean Smith where there were still no 3s and if there was they damn sure weren't shooting them. Jordan was competent 3 point shooter who was MONEY if challenged, disrespected, game on the line, etc and thats all he needed to be. Had Jordan been born today he would have practiced 3s his whole life and would easily be one of the top 3 point shooters in the league he just never fully implemented them into his game because his GOAT game was developed before 3 pointer. I agree with your comment Curtis and specifically hate when I see modern day "analytics" types taking shots at Mike for 3 pt percentage.

In fact, Pippen would have been a few rings shorter BUT he would've been a multiple time MVP on any other team. Look up his numbers. They're downright impressive. He was consistently good for years. To do what he did in the era he did it in is incredible. People bring up 3 point shooting but that isn't a hole, he could easily get a bucket while getting thrown into the stands by the whole team. All of his improvements over seasons were done for a reason. He can score well but can't play defense? Defensive player of the year. He can't beat the Pistons? Took an off season of bulking up to take any kind of punishment dished out on him. Still getting beat up over time? Learn the fadeaway shot. He doesn't trust his teammates? Trust Steve Kerr and John Paxson to knock down huge game winners. Undeniably the GOAT across most of the basketball world. Players come into the league already having a long way to go to catch up to his accomplishments.

Kareem was far better in high school and college, had as many nba titles, went to more finals, has more mvp’s, and has more points, rebounds, and assists. MJ is Mount Rushmore, of course...but greatest is a bit much. Bill Russell also has a convincing argument, since the only relevant metric is titles

@ Greatest i wouldnt say because NBA is still running, Bill Russell's era is too far apart for us to make convincing comparisons but he is the greatest winner so far no doubt, but when you say the only relevant metric is title are where make you wrong, Kareen is great too, but he played more season and more games than Jordan did, so he will have more points assist and rebound ( 20 compare to MJ's 15 ), i am not gona go through the stats since you can just wiki or google them. Bth have the same number of titles but MJ are the FMVP for all six while kareen only have 2 FMVP, which means he was out-performed by someone else while MJ is always the best player on the court so that makes MJ better than Kareen, title isnt the only merit, but how you get those titles too.

If everyone else was lagging behind, he'd be there hitting deuce after deuce, keeping the team within striking distance so that in a moment of psych, they could overtake the rival and never look back. He didn't miss much, and if you gave him a millimeter, he was going to punish you for it.

Mentally lebron isnt tough, physically he can be great in the 90’s like a shawn kemp, but a dominant like today i doubt that. It’s hard to fathom that a basketball fan or connoisseur doesn’t have a clue about the greatest, even if it’s erroneously contested that he’s not the greatest. Otherwise, not watching the growth and struggle of MJ is the deprivation, if you will, of the erroneous argument that supports he’s not the far most greatest player until now. I say this in the context that there’s nothing Lebron can do for the rest of his career to eclipse MJ, in any way.
Stats are not the ultimate and decisive marks for ultimate greatness - there are many other factors: the Heart, Will and Competitive Nature for instance - there’s no stat for that, you had to witness it...

I was fortunate to watch Jordan play throughout his career from '84 with the Bulls until he finally retired with the Wizards.
I was a Lakers fan first then a Bulls fan during his career.
He dropped 63 points against the Boston Celtics during the playoffs in 1986 in Boston Garden that remains the most points in a playoff game in 2019.
He dropped the six 3pt shots against the Blazers in a game during the 1992 NBA Finals after the Blazers players claimed his was "one dimensional" and " couldn't shoot the 3".
The highlight where he jumps really high after making the shot was during a playoff game against the Cavaliers either in 1988 or 1989 where it propelled the Bulls as an up and coming team. This is when the NBA East was dominated by the Celtics and later the Pistons during the 1980's.
The Bulls owned the 1990's during their NBA run winning six NBA titles.
Jordan "retired" after the 1993 NBA season after allegations of gambling were made against him.
He joined the Chicago White Sox organization during this time and was a less than average baseball player.
Sadly, during this time, his father was murdered while sleeping at a rest stop.
Jordan made his return right before the 1995 players where he wore #45.
The Orlando Magic were the Eastern Conference Champions led by Shaquille O'Neal and Penny Hardaway in 1995.
The Bulls led by Jordan, Pippen and Rodman were the best NBA team from 1996 to 1998 winning three NBA Titles including a 72-10 record in 1996 during the regular season.
The closest NBA player comparable to Michael Jordan would be Kobe Bryant.
Michael Jordan is by far the greatest player ever to play in the NBA.

+DTex I don't want to shortchange LeBron. He is an all-time great, and to be honest, he probably is a slightly better physical specimen than Michael Jordan. But, for me the difference is the killer instinct. LeBron doesn't have it. Jordan damn sure did. People wanna divide it along the old 80s argument of Jordan is a scorer & Magic is a passer and then say LeBron is just a better version of Magic. Well, first of all, when Magic had Kareem out his rookie year in the Finals, he stepped up & did everything and won. When the Lakers were in that knock down drag out fight with the Celtics Magic went to the baby hook with the game on the line. LeBron doesn't do that. He has some infamous chase down blocks at critical moments, but he's either missed big time shots or passed it up to weaker players & stepped off the stage in those moments. Ray Allen is the one who hit the big shot to give LeBron one of his rings. Jordan, everybody & their mother knew he was getting the ball & he was going to hit that shot, or draw a double team & kick it to Steve Kerr or John Paxton, but Jordan was going to find a way to win. LeBron will never get over his Finals record. That Finals record represents his lack of killer instinct. Jordan will always have the edge over LeBron in my book.

Mike was an assassin, a straight up hired killer. Lebron is great but not the goat. He don't have that killer mentality like Mike and Kobe. 6 finals, 6 championships. Man just simply didn't take no for an answer. He took every chip he won. FACTS

@ nah it's definitely not better. Its it great? Yes. But winning and how you won is a big part. Mike never lost a game 6. Mike took 2 years off to play baseball after winning 3 championships. Came back and won 3 more. And people forget as well lebron came out at 18. Mike came out at like 22 or 23 (dont quote me on that but I know its around that age) Brons stats will be stacked. But it's not about stats it's about chips and how you got there. Lebron had pippen and Rodman. 2 hall of famers and with the first 3 or 4 just pippen. Lebron has had Bosh, wade, love, Irving, Thompson if you wanna just throw one in there. Lebron cant be the goat. He's not better than kobe

@ ya, i think that's what he's saying......he took them to the playoffs every year as soon as he arrived, and once he finally got a few other decent players to play with, all he did was win...consecutively....and he'd have 2 more if he didn't try playing baseball

@Sudhir Kakar Good example for one of the Top 3 players of all time. Kareem is a player that performed in the clutch and probably has the best argument as GOAT vs Jordan. Lebron likes to defer in big moments, he can't hit Free throws or tries to avoid them down the stretch.

He still has the highest vertical leap in NBA history. 6'6" with a 48" vertical. Lebron is 6'8" with a 44". He jumps higher only because he has 2 inches on MJ.

@@trevorstevenson4830 They both have the same recorded vertical leap of 48 inches. So it really boils down to one of those things where you're asking, what day are we talking about? Monday it might be Jordan and Tuesday it might be Carter.

9:45 You said could you imagine being the team that passed on MJ?
Since you're a new sports fan, in case you didn't know I'll try to give some insight on why Houston and Portland passed on MJ.
    1) Houston drafted 1st. Picked Hakeem Olajuwon. Can't blame them. Possibly the best center of all time, at a time when the NBA built teams around centers.
    2) Portland needed a center badly, but Houston took Olajuwon, so they took Sam Bowie, which was understandable considering the previous year they drafted Clyde Drexler who was the same player as MJ (a high-flying, high-scoring shooting guard). Sure, MJ turned out to be better than Clyde, but Clyde was probably the 2nd best shooting guard in the league behind MJ, so you can't fault Portland. They didn't need another 2guard, they needed a center.
It's simply drafting what your team needs. Nobody knew that MJ would turn out to be as good as he was.
As a Bulls fan, I'm glad he "fell into our laps" at #3.

" Nobody knew that MJ would turn out to be as good as he was."
      - of course they do, MJ beats every NBA Superstar, while he was in college. He was already a superstar before he was drafted.

Portland is understandable they cant draft MJ as drexler is too good for the team.

Is that true? Why the hell would the Rockets have turned down Drexler and the #2 pick for Sampson. Ok I just looked up clyde's rookie stats and he only had 7pts. That would have been a great trade especially as Sampson's injury was coming - unless the rckets also picked bowie not Jordan.
