Spot on very well depth, i subscribe to your channel as well. I was wondering maybe you can research about kingdom hearts games & fully explain about their lore.
🤯 my mind after watching this. While i enjoy your reviewing and analysis more this is also a really cool look at the game and not another retrospective (which you can even still do)
Nice stuff, Snarf! It's always fun and entertaining to get into the deep lore and background of references and mythology used for different reasons. From the more abstract concepts that encompass everything, to just simple enemy designs and names (Bless the return of Midgarsorm to Rebirth instead of Midgar zolom).
So true! I’m a bit of mythology enjoyer myself so seeing everything done with such care and attention to detail is just 🤌. I also am with you on the hope for the use of Migarsorm. We will be finding out soon regardless 🙌
I believe we have and will see some interesting alterations to the Sephiroth/Jenova dynamic. Here's a few interesting things. In Remake, Jenova speaks. In every altered Cloud memory or communication instigated by Jenova, there's this dubstep sound that plays inder voice tracks, these are Jenova's voice. But we alsp have her speaking intelligible words to Cloud in two sentences. "Dont deny me." "What a touching reunion." An interesting rule developed over the compilation. Jenova doesnt need wings to fly. If one is controlled by jenova and has sufficient Jenova in hand (such as her body, or even part of an arm), it can fly and phase through walls. However, Sephiroth is unable to fly without a wing. In the original game we never see Sephiroth fly wothout wings; this is because any appearance beyond the Northern crater isnt physically Sephiroth, its Jenova-Roth. In remake, we saw Jenova-Roth. In rebirth, the cargo ship scene where in the OG Jenova-Roth asks "Who are you?" appears in the trailer, where Sephiroth appears to be warning us about Jenova/Jenova-Roth. Also in remake, the Arbiter looks suspiciously like Jenova. Inside the orb on its chest is a trapped sephiroth. Given that the future the main faction whispers are protecting is where Sephiroth loses but Jenova wins... I think sephiroth is trying to get out from mother's boot. In crisis core, Angeal, Genesis and Sephiroth all were weak to Jenova's calls. Genesis eventually freed himself. Angeal couldnt fight it anymore and asked for death. Sephiroth believed what he read hook line and sinker, and took her head with him. Who is really to say Sephiroth ever had any real control in the end? The Jenova-Roth spoke in a Japanese unisex formality woth a god complex, while Sephiroth spoke with more casual male pronouns for himself. In remake, after the arbiter is defeated, Sephiroth uses his more human pronouns. Just a thought.
Yay someone else who understands the kabbalah references aswell. Good point about aerith possibly representing chesed as well I never thought of that. Personally i think minevra represents gevurah because of crisis and the waving away of genesis with her right hand, she also has the red jewel at her core (like all the weapons) as the colour red is associated with gevurah. Theres a lot of kabbalah references but one to highlight is the gold saucer built to look like the tree of life. The 'real' tree of life as called in africa grows in the middle of a desert and know one knows how it stays alive.
I've played this game since it came out, watched hours of videos, and I gotta say, you brought up a lot of connections I had never heard before. Well done video, thank you for sharing
It's very interesting to see all the inspiration Kitase, Nomura, Nojima, and Toriyama took from Jewish Mysticism. Really makes me look at the whole game in a different way. I'm not sure of the disparate connections to other Abrahamic faiths since Jewish Mysticism is extremely different from Orthodox or Messianic Judaism and even more different still from Catholicism, which is itself very different from Protestant Christianity. That said, Japanese writers being completely disconnected from any of that context could totally have mixed it all together as loose inspiration without truly understanding those distinctions.
You brought up a good point about the writers. One thing that I had trouble finding was the interviews surrounding the development and what I did find was more centered around 7s rocky development from the story board perspective but couldn’t locate anything on how they researched and later implemented into the game. In any case, I’m still impressed that everything about the game (combat, story, character) etc turned out as well as it did because of the ambitious nature of the project could well have gone horribly wrong.
You know...as someone with mainly Christian beliefs I've always appreciated the Final Fantasy series. I can tell the writers are soul searching and I feel the Judeo-Christian elements of each title are done so respectfully. They bring so many religions and mythologies into play and some people have claimed the series as a whole is against Christianity...but man I'm 37 and been in love with the series since the first title as a kid. Even the light warriors and the pursuit of and protection of the light gave me vibes of Christians letting their light shine. I know there's spells and monsters and Im as a Christian supposed to be against that, but I try and take into consideration cultural differences and understanding. I think people played X and thought The Church of Yevon represents Christianity so SE must think Christians are evil... but it really didn't seem to in my playthrough. Call it splitting hairs but to me it more resembles the Catholic Church. And at the end of the day there were good people who practiced it. The institution was just corrupt. Anyways great video.
@@nishquikpops well it’s still a masterpiece imo but the parallels are undeniable but I’m glad they didn’t use gears for ff7 because the direction they went for both ended up working out for the best in the end. That said we are talking about two of the greatest games ever made and like top 3 for me.
@@SnarfsSoldier17 yeah both are fantastic and RPG legends 👌🏽 The development history for both and how they overlap is so interesting like how Soraya Saga came up with an original concept for Cloud/Zack, how Nomura was involved in early drafts of Xenogears, and how Gnosticism and Jewish Mysticism are prominent in both.
Gods name is known was found as was the pronunciation. It is pronounced Yehovah. There is no doubt about it. The Rabbi's ritual of passing down the name, with the precise activities, dress and rules along with the name itself was found. With the spelling of his name also came the mesning of his name which is also now known. His name was also found in ancient scrolls many times over by biblical scholars. Some scribes actually wrote the whole name and it was the same everytime, never once was it Yahweh. Yahweh is an unrelated desert god. Apparently it is not widely known.
This one was a lot of fun to research and the parallels were really interesting. Allowed me to do a different look at one of my favorite games.

@@RaveSmoove Never tried Kingdom Hearts but something to consider!
Didnt really know it went that deep tbh. Nice job with the vid and research bruh.
Thanks! Yeah, it’s very detailed and has a lot of nuance. Really cool imo.
Sick FF7. Lets gooooooooo
😎
Thank you! After 26 years, i'm still learning new stuff about my favorite game ever.
Glad you enjoyed the video 🙏 it’s always fascinating to learn new things about the things we love.

I really thought about it but it maybe for the best time wise if I just did a bigger rebirth video.

Great comment! Interesting perspective on Minerva I hadn’t considered and that seems very plausible as well.

Chesed means loving kindness So i realized Aerith represents Chesed as A Christian Cheshed is also Grace Aerith is Grace itself

Source? As far as I am aware there's not even a source that says Jehovah until the middle ages and that was by Christians.
