No "Cotton Eye Joe"?? I think it's way more annoyingly catchy than some songs on that list...
YES! that one should have been added. Name a sports venue that doesn't play it at one time or another.
Awesome song
It's shocking not on here
Definitely agreed with that one.
because they dont know where did he come from....and where did he go
A lot of these songs are just victims of being overplayed a lot of them are actually really good
No way!!! BULL EFF'ING $H!T
Agreed! “Ugh I hate this song” as you start dancing to the beat uncontrollably!
Hence why they're earworms.
Yeah, there’s a difference in hearing a song once and it sticks with you. And then the stations playing the same song over and over again that you have no choice but to let it stick with you.
Exepect baby shark, that one was always annoing
I can't believe The Macarena isn't on this list.
Ye that song has been played WAY too many times

Annoyingly catchy?
Maybe it's not that annoying. Hahaha
Oh yeah there has got to be a lot of songs which are actually annoying and catchy which should be on here, ahead of those that are. However I can't think of them right now. Very tired.
"Bad Boys" theme song from TV Show "COPS". Oh I'm thinking of some others but can't come up with them.
As the fun uncle in my family, I'm proud of the fact that I got my 3 year-old nephew asking everyone, "What does the fox say?" My sister hates me for it, but it was totally worth it!!! 😂😂
Good job
That is awesome😂😂
😂😂😂😂 typical uncle
Impossible to hear Surfin Bird without hearing Peter Griffin singing this.
Yeah. Peter Griffin's Rendition is hilarious!
😂
The more you here these songs, the more you misinterpret them.
🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣 I was thinking the same thing!!
I always loved the “It’s peanut Butter Jelly time” song when I was a kid. I know it’s a annoying for some, but I loved it lol.
I still sing that once a month.
Lol, that's the ring tone I've got for my son. There's a hilarious story behind it: He was a bartender. A couple of women wanted something different, so he made peanut butter and jelly shots. He has a belly on him, and put the ingredients into a shaker, then shook it in front of them, complete with belly shake. He got a very large tip for the comedy, lol.
Yup! Always loved that one!
I loved "I am you're gummy bear" as a kid
It makes sense now; I always wondered what Brian for Family Guy was doing. :D
These aren't annoying.
They're LEGENDARY!
"Who let the dogs out" is the anthem of kids born in the late 90s/early 20s
I agree with you but I hate baby shark with a passion
No, some of them really are annoying
Yeah, legendary annoying. (some)

I once took a philosophy class for credit in college and the professor asked "whats love?"

I hate baby shark. Most annoying and dumb song in history!
Unpopular opinion: Hollaback Girl is a *BOP*
The story behind it was because Courtney Love dissed Stefani in a magazine, calling her a cheerleader...which Gwen didn't take too kindly too. So she called Pharrell and Chad Hugo for help and we got one of the best summer songs of 2005 and one of the most memorable anthems of the 2000s!
I bet everytime someone plays Hollaback Girl, Gwen is just backstroking in her pool, full of money she made!
I never knew that. Thank you for the info!!
Rick Astley has aged like a fine wine. 🙌🏻
now is that a genuine comment or just half a Walter quote ?
@@LordPegasusBudda genuine lol
I never knew who Rick Astley was but soon found out walking into every classroom and every girl sighed and many of them said he looks exactly like Rick Astley. Even when my mother seen Rick she couldn't believe that it wasn't me. Now you look at us and we look nothing alike. I am balding which I am fine with and likely twice the size as Rick. In the early 2000s I went up to a weight of about 630lbs and when my wife and I originally started dating I was around 170lbs with a chiseled jaw line and looked the part but now I am about 290lbs and have quite a bit of weight on my face.
But you know pop culture........they're never gonna give him up. Never gonna let him let him down. Never gonna run around and dessert him.
Reeve Carney's cover threw me for a loop!

I can never truely hate Eiffel 65- Blue (Da Ba Dee). It’s not nostalgia or anything, it’s just the fact that I watched a video on the making of this song, and I thought it was really inspirational. Even though the song can get annoying at times, I can never hate it.
Try being a Disney Cast member, working in Magic Kingdom during Frozen's peak of popularity. You learn to hate "Let It Go".
My niece was going thru the Let It Go phase and actually texted the entire lyrics of the song to me three times IN ONE DAY! I had to temporarily block her number from my phone just to get any rest.

I'm legit surprised Vengaboys - We like to Party wasn't on this list!
"Boom Boom Boom Boom" and "We're Going to Ibiza" !
‘The Vengabus is coming!’
Especially as it was popularised by a Six Flags commercial.
Definitely agreed especially after the six flags commercial.
WHAT THE FUCK I LOVE THAT SONG!!!!!
I remember Call me Maybe is played every single day. In home, in school , in public during its time
My take on the songs covered:
20: Miley Cyrus-Party In the USA: Honestly, she looked good with the long hair. Hook is very catchy, total guilty pleasure
19-Idina Menzel-Let It Go: 1 word: Overplayed. And I like Idina a lot. Very talented singer. But OMG was this song everywhere and overplayed to death. In the words of Elsa, let it go.
18-Limp Bizkit-Nookie: Ok so a song about sex. But then again, it was the late 90s, what songs during that time weren't about sex?
17-Gwen Stefani- Hollaback Girl: Honestly, the 2000s answer to Toni Basil's "Mickey" because that S**t really is bananas. Guilty pleasure you can't help but to crank up and sing along not caring that anyone is watching
16-Rick Astley- Never Gonna Give you Up: The song that spawned the Rickroll. Classic brit dance-pop. Cute song from a cute ginger.
15-Haddaway-What is Love: Night at the Roxbury killed this song for me. But Saint's Row 4 resurrected it. Ooh Girl that's my jam, hearing your character say it just can't help but to be like ah screw it. The synth and drum hook just kills it.
14-Las Ketchup-The Ketchup Song (Asereje): Honestly, never heard this, and now that I have, I'd rather forget it. I'm never getting that time I lost by listening to it back. I would rather be forced to listen to the Macarena again than listen to this.
13- The Trasmen-Surfin Bird: Earworm to the nth degree. I mean yes the bird IS the word, but doesn't have to be so annoying about it. Can we forget this one?
12-Hanson-Mmmbop: Catch, cute, exactly what we needed in the late 90s to be a nice change from grunge and emo
. I mean not everyone wanted to be emo.
11-LMFAO-Sorry For Party Rocking: I mean why not parody your first two songs and basically have an excue to have some more fun. ANd bring your friends. Basically a nice way of saying OK Boomer.
10-Meghan Trainor-All About That Bass: I mean, body positivity with a good 50's era doo wop style. What's not to like? And like the song says "Every inch of you is beauty from the bottom to the top." Why don't we hear this more?
9:-Baha Men-Who Let The Dogs Out: I can't like this song. I'm sorry. It annoys me. I'd rather put the Baha Men IN the doghouse for creating such an annyoing and overplayed song.
8-Carly Rae Jepsen-Call Me Maybe: TOTAL GUILTY PLEASURE song. I like this song because the video. She's basically hitting on this hot neighbor and at the end, he comes over and asks for her brother's number? I mean way to show ally status Carly. How can you hate that?
7-Caramell-Caramelldansen: (warning meme recursion) (insert Butterly meme)Is this a meme (end butterfly meme)(end meme)
6-Darude-Sandstorm: This one holds a special place in my heart. It was one of the first major techno songs I got hooked to. This song still hits me hard and gives me goosebumps all over every time i listen to it. Then there's the UA-cam video with some symphony orchestra in Australia covering it and just killing it (in a good way)
5-Crazy Frog-Axel F: Annoying Earworm. I like the original. 'Nuff Said
4-Psy-Gangnam Style: 1st artist in history to reach 1B views on UA-cam. I have no clue what he is saying except for Hey Sexy Lady. But honestly, do you really need to know? Just get up and dance your ass off.
3-Aqua-Barbie Girl: Although some might find annoying, it was the late 90s so what do you expect. It was catchy as heck, and after doing some research it turns out Mattel, makers of the Barbie doll, sued the group but lost because the song was declared a parody by the courts.
2-Eiffel 65: Blue (Da Ba Dee)- Knowing the history behind this song and the group behind it, I love it. I have the album.
1-Pinkfong-Baby Shark: I can't even. I mean, you can't deny it. I'm not going to even try defending this one.
Toto's "Africa", Kansas' "Point of Know Return", and Cheap Trick's "Mighty Wings" haven't left my head in weeks...
They're not annoying they're awesome
@@glenncross4987 Especially Mighty Wings by Cheap Trick. Hell it was so awesome that it became Ken Master's theme. Like how The Trooper by Iron Maiden is so awesome that it was used as a theme of a maid in a bullet hell shoot 'em up.

I got some of these songs out of my head a few years ago, but now you got them back in my head. :(
About “The Ketchup Song”: The chorus isn’t exactly nonsense. If I remember correctly, they’re singing about a guy in a club who has the DJ put on “Rapper’s Delight” and tries to sing along, but he doesn’t speak English. What ends up coming out of his mouth is the Spanglish you hear in the chorus. “I said a hip, hop, the hippie the hippie to the hip hip hop you don’t stop…”
Yes, this was the case for this song hahahaha its just drunk people trying sing a song
I cannot stop hearing the Ketchup Song

Barbie Girl by Aqua is one of my favorite songs from this list. I still listen to it every once in a while. Tubthumping took me years to finally realize what they were saying. It became a slightly different song, but I still enjoy it.
That one and Call Me Maybe for me. Lol. The Aqua one is a guilty pleasure but Call Me Maybe isn't. I play the Aqua song at least once during my drives every time I go for a drive in my car however. Catchiest damn song I've ever heard. Never thought I would ever be a fan of their music but I actually love their Aquarium album. My favourite pop album. There is once I went for a drive in the middle of the night last weekend and wads gone for like 40-45 minutes and played that song on repeat for the majority of the drive. No idea why I like it or why it's so catchy but I do and it is. I swear people have probably given me weird looks on the road because that song was blasting from my car while stopped at a red light. I know the song word for word now. My god it's catchy. Lol.

How could you leave YMCA, Macarena, and Cotton Eyed Joe off this list?!? All 3 of these should be top 10!
Here's a couple of songs that should have been in the list:
Cotton Eye Joe - Rednex (1994)
The Hampsterdance - Hampton the Hamster (2000)
I am your Gummybear - Gummibar (2007)
Brimful of Asha (Norman Cook Remix) (1997) - Cornershop
My Humps - The Black Eyed Peas (2005)
Wellerman - Nathan Evans (2020)
Do you really think that "sorry for body rocking" was more infectious than either "sexy and I know it" or "Party Rock Anthem"?
I'm sorry, but to me it's the most forgettable out of the three.
I agree, either one of those were waaaaaaaaaaaaay more played.
ILOVE THAT SONG I'M SEXY AND I KNOW party rock anthem
Agreed 1000%
Party Rock Anthem is catchy as Hell, and blows the other 2 away, and it’s not even close.

I'm old enough to remember thinking Rick Astley was black and American in 1987...and then I saw him. Not what I expected at all 😄
Same here lol. I don't think anyone younger than us understands why that is. Nowadays, there's soulful sounds coming out of EVERYONE no matter age, gender or nationality. It's cool to see the changes we looked for back in the 80's become the norm today!
Don't worry. I thought Michael McDonald was black as well.

Kokomo by beach boys gets in my head from time to time. It's a guilty pleasure song for me, but I'll sing it with passion!
Song helped me remember the Caribbean Islands name, catchy tune too. Good song.
Two song that have been getting stuck in my head recently are Harry Belafonte's - Jump in the line & Banana Boat. Its not necessarily annoying, but they are extremely catchy and can bore their way in to my brain for hours at a time, not to mention they are also infectious. Everytime my fiancee starts singing it, I starts sining it as well.
Didn't he do the song that was in Beetlejuice? Day-oh? (I'm sure that's not the actual title, but I'm too lazy to look it up)
@@topchief1 yeah the actual name is banana boat
My husband introduced a lot of these songs to my 8 and 3 year old.... now they play it over over and over.
The annoying frog, Blue by Eiffle 65 (still a classic though) , Numa Numa and I got it from my daddy
What makes them annoying are: overplay in the song itself and on the radio.
I remember hearing the song Love Shack thinking what is this crap; 17 times later that day I thought "it's not too bad" ;D
What Is Love is the most cancerous song of 1993.
One more reason that makes the song sounds annoying are when you actually liked the song but then your lil siblings start liking it and keep singing/playing that song 24/7
And they're auto tuned to death...
What makes these songs annoying is that they are bad songs. Most of the songs on this list I thankfully only heard a few times but they all suck.
Copa (at the Copacabana) by Barry Manilow is constantly stuck in my head. And when I start singing it, it gets stuck in everyone's head. It got so bad that I was absolutely forbidden to ever sing ANY Barry Manilow song. LOL
Copacabana is the name of the song. If you were around when the song first came out (like myself), it got old fast. Can’t listen to it to this day.
"At the Copa, Copacabana the hottest spot north of Havana".
Thanks (sarcastically). I hadn't thought of that song in years, now I can't get it out of my head.
20:56
So Phoebe you're not even going to acknowledge the song becoming a whole franchise with a toy line, a Broadway musical, a Nickelodeon TV series and a feature film currently in the works
So many tunes in this list that brought happiness to my life, annoying or not
The most catchy song in my opinion is TheHamsterDance by Hampton The Hamster lol
Consider that an honourable mention.
Alice Cooper's song "He's Back (the man behind the mask)" is incredible.
Not even “Dragostea Din Tei” by O-Zone??? 🥺😭 I consider it a Honorable Mention
Personally, "Call Me Maybe" is a song that really gets on my nerves because of how many people used to jokingly sing the lyrics to me.

This comment section is exactly why I hate being a music lover sometimes. Nothing is good enough for anyone. In ten years, everyone's favorite songs will be hated on like you're doing to the music of this video right now so just shut up and enjoy whatever you want and let everyone else do the same. Music is music, period. Who cares about taste? Taste is subjective, not objective. Why don't people get it? Why are we treating music taste as fact when it ain't? But since we're playing _that_ game... If you don't listen to songs from many eras, are you even truly appreciating music? Or are you stuck Livin' in a Bubble (Eiffel 65 reference, ha!) and listening to one era/genre/artist/band/etc.? Seriously. Y'all are too much. Please get over yourselves and let loose, we live in an age where music is at an all time consumption, ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS.

all these songs are from my childhood, teen's, and adult life. I did a Rick-roll for Borderlands 4, and yes the Surfin' Bird was still around in the '80s as it was played on the radio called Gold 104.3 in Australia. Also, update here, Barie Girl was a throwback to an Adult toy line but Mattel didn't see it that way because they thought it was about their product and yes the song is a parody and didn't break any copyright or trademark laws

I've listened to a ton of earworm songs over the years, but there's one song I liked that drove one of my former co-workers crazy AF (in the "I will destroy your radio" kind of way). The song I'm talking about was the song used for the Six Flags commercial with that old guy dancing like he drank 200%-proof high octane caffeine. Every time summer comes around, that song is always stuck in my head even to this day.

We got so fed up at Let It Go cause my niece was playing it non stop that my brother told her that for every week she did not play the song he would double her allowance and every time she played it she would lose her allowance for a month.
Did it work??
@@jamesmiller7228 absolutely not 🤣🤣🤣🤣

@@jamesmiller7228 oh that sounds like something that ought to be banned by the Geneva convention... I am sorry for your pain man...
That's completely understandable. That annoying a** (and completely unmatchy) song deserves to burn in a deep dark fiery pit.

My thoughts exactly
You literally have some of the best songs in existence...

I hate that song, ever since I heard it at my school.
Here's another. Sorry but not sorry.:
Fighting evil by moonlight. Winning love by daylight. Never running from a real fight. She is the one named Sailor Moon.
She will never turn her back on her friends. She is always there to defend. She is the one who we can depend. She is the one named sailor.
Sailor Venus. Sailor Mercury. Sailor Mars. Sailor Jupiter. Secret powers all so new to her. She is the one named Sailor Moon.
(Epic guitar solo and repeat of first lyrics)
You missed a few:

-We will rock you by Queen
-Cha cha slide by DJ jasper
-Happy by Pharrell Williams
-Baby by Justin Bieber
That shark song is like some super simplified version of a song we used to sing at summer camp when I was a kid. Our version was better though because the sharks got to eat a lifeguard in it. Had the same movements and similar “doo doo-ing”
Yeah same! We sang it all the time in elementary school… BEFORE IT WAS COOL
@@Blazedasonic Someone thought this version with eating people wouldn't fly with toddlers.
Blue Swede's "Hooked on A Feeling"
A-ha "Take On Me"
Moutb and McNeil's "How Do You Do"

That song was a pt of my childhood. I was addicted to it at one point lol.
My high school had a Stop the Music type of fundraiser (I don't remember what it was for) where they raised money by playing an annoying song on repeat in the halls and lunch room for a month and when we hit milestones they would change it to something else. They used MMbop until our year (class of 2010) where they had to change it to some other song because we just sang along and let it run without donating. It was just background white noise to me.

I know my 12-year-old cousin will look at me with hatred if I start singing Baby Shark. It’s worth it 😏
I've listened to nearly every single song on this list in the last month. My toddler loves catchy dance songs.
First time I ever encountered Baby Shark was in high school, in 1993, during homecoming week, when the members of my schools JV and Varsity cheerleading squads got on top of one of the cafeteria tables and performed a seemingly impromptu performance as part of the hazing of the newest members of both squads. So yeah, it's been around a LOOOOOOOONG time.
I literally skipped to the next video when number 1 popped up. lol. Then came back to comment!
While i'm not surpised that "Let It Go" made this list, at least "Do You Wanna Build A Snowman" did because let me tell you when Frozen was released my mom and my brother would sing that song non-stop and it drove me nuts.XD
I would have gone insane too with that song! 🙇🏻♀️🙇🏻♀️
@@ashwinidesai4051 Yeah, my mom and brother were practically obsessed with that song, but luckily they eventually stopped singing it.
I can't f***** stand that song. It wasn't catchy to me back and it still isn't catchy to me even now. I don't see wtf people saw in it 😐.
The snow never bothered me anyway. 🤣
My little nephew loves Baby Shark! I'll always sing it for him because he's such a sweetie.
When it comes to #1, it's practically my baby nephew's favorite song, and he'll be a year old in a few weeks. Hope this love for it goes away by the time he's in school.
When I was little my dad gave me an old fish toy that would sing that Hansen song and only today did I find out it was a real song
