Never seen those particular Marianne records before. She did go very gravelly didn't she. The only one I have by her is Dangerous Acquaintances from 1981. I've never heard of Jean Loves Jezebel or Band of Horses. I do have that Scorpions though, long time since I've spun it. Good selection Mike.
Lots of really cool stuff! I just picked up a different Jo jo Gunn a few weeks ago, I think one of those guys went on to form firefall. Cool spooky tooth record!
Mike! That’s a great pour. Thanks for the shoutout. The Vangelis/Jon Anderson connection is because Vangelis was in the running to replace Rick wakeman when he left yes (Patrick Moraz ultimately joined for the Relayer album). Jay Yurd Ferguson!!! Thunder Island baby!!! Thanks for the mentions. You got a package heading your way!
Jackie Brown features one of my favorite movie lines: "I didn't know you were into Delfonics!" I used to see Vince Gill at the Predators' hockey games. He had a better seat than I did but he wasn't in a luxury box - he was with all the normal people. I think Spinal Tap had an album cover that was very similar to "Animal Magnetism." Chariots of Fire was awesome. I have found that inevitably I double my CDs....it's hard to avoid. lol Thanks for showing the records.
@@RandallWeaver Hi Randy! That’s a cool Vince Gill story. Living in Nashville, I’m sure you’ve crossed paths with a few people over the years. Now I want to go back and watch Jackie Brown again. Love it! ✌️
hahah. i’d be more than happy to work on “those” kinda films. paycheck is a paycheck. i aint picky. thats first band of horses album i got back in day. saw them live in seattle maybe 10 years ago. i like the tune no ones gonna love you on that.
Friday Cheers! I definitely do have that Gene Loves Jezebel record! As for Marianne Faithful doing country ... well, that might work. I bought The Friends of Mr. Cairo when it came out. That makes me feel old! I like some Yes, but not all. You better buy a house soon, or you will be out of record space 🙂
Hey Mike. I’ve never seen that Marianne Faithful album, it’s now on my radar. Joe Ely’s country stuff is great. Nice Spooky score. I agree that Anderson’s voice can be a little much. Watching this on a beautiful Saturday morning in La Ciotat. Cheers to you, Patty and Colton.
Preach it, Mike! Yes IS hard to take. Looks like some great grabs you got there, especially that Gene Loves Jezebel - I've been trying to get people to listen to them for many years to no avail. I always wondered if they might have sold more records without the hair and aesthetic they chose, but I dig it. They did a really good "All The Young Dudes" cover as well for the Bowie tribute album 'Goth Oddity'. Glad you're still enjoying Buffalo, we were in Saratoga Springs last week and I was thinking, "We got to be close to where MIke is..." Yeah, 4 hours 30 minutes. Ouch. July, tho. I'll be there.
@@DaddyRich71 It would be great to see you next July! Patty and I already have some ideas for the next bash. Part 1 is finding a house! Hope all is well Rich! ✌️
Hi Mike, another great Friday cheers. It’s cool you played Status Que to open. I have been streaming Status que as of late and need to stop procrastinating on getting my first vinyl. Love Gene loves Jezebel. I have that album on cd only though. Great Band of Horses pick up. I do have that album on vinyl and showed it going through my B’s . They have an episode on what’s in my bag on UA-cam amoeba music. I have a few Scorpions albums but not the dog looking at the a.ss man album 😅 your apartment albums are piling up nicely.
Hey Mike, catchin’ up here lol😅 I have no Marianne, not familiar with her… My alternative days, Gene loves Jezebel yessss… Sweethearts hmmm!!! Love Vince… Scorpions, what an ass Indeed…Vangelis is no brainer… I totally agree with you with the barb wire over the top prog but I spin Yes and others and enjoy some of it… Not too too much. I partied in Florida with Steve Trotter and Sebastian Bach, Steve did the barrel a few times, he was guest barman… Cheers my friend 🎶😎🍻
@@TheVinylLoungeMtl I met Sebastian Bach in the early 90s in Toronto. I have a framed photo of me with him and the Much Music VJ Natalie Richard. I will look forward to hearing your Miami story someday! ✌️
My Chiefs play your new team Sunday, the Buffalo Bills, and I hope that you will be on your best behavior. That certainly would be an interesting album with Jones/Faithful. It's always good to see Joe Ely.
Ole, Mike! I expected you to say 'Marianne's voice was pretty gravelly at this point...just like Tom Waits!' Faithless is somewhat of a rare find. I've yet to come across a copy. GLJ 'Discover' is awesome: a great record! Joe Ely I need to get back on my radar. No 'Heart Of The Sunrise' for you: good to know! 😎🎶
Beer in a glass is nice! I’ll be Kato at your house. Those Marianne Faithful albums at that time period are hard to find. Nice scores. I ran into Vince Gill at a 7-11 and he told me to piss off. That Scorpions kicks ass. If I lived on Jazz Street I would get kicked out of the neighborhood. You’re the best!
Storms artwork from the Hipgnosis studio in the UK for that Scorpions cover ! Spooky 2 is cool, I'm lucky to have found one last year. I've been looking for more Chris Rea lately.. The Road To Hell is difficult to find on an OG, and the repress is 35-40.00 USD 🎵
@@jtsrecordroom3963 Hi JT! I got a sealed repress of Road To Hell at a record show about a year ago for $20! What a deal. Hope you and the family are well these days. ✌️
That Gene Loves Jezebel album is awesome. I have it on 3 formats. Marianne Faithful looks pretty good on that album cover considering she looked like dog shit in the Compleat Beatles documentary from 1981. Great buys! Cheers!
I'm with you Mike I just don't get YES. " Owner of a Lonely Heart " is about it. However I do love the Scorpions and the live version of " The Zoo " on World Wide Live is incredible!. I have not heard Marianne Faithful " Broken English " in a while, but that album produced some great songs. Including I think a cover of Lennons " Working Class Hero ' which i used to enjoy.
