@@PainFreeYou Good day. I try to tell my mum before getting surgery on her knees that even if the xray shows bone to bone (and no cartilage in between) thats not the cause of the pain. Is this something sarno spoke about too? or should she just go ahead with the doctors orders. Thank you
Well described as always Dan. For anyone wanting to get shut of lingering pain stuck in the subconscious, this is your man. His video calls are like speaking to an old friend.
I was in horrible back pain last year and your videos literally changed my life. I can’t thank you enough. Love your calm nature & helping me realize that stress was truly the reason for my back pain!
What I love is it’s not only helping me with pain it’s helping with my chronic dizziness and anxiety. I’m learning to be kind to myself I’ve think I’ve been in burnout for many years. I have to help everyone x
me too.. i feel like i've been 'dizzy' for about 15 years.. makes my anxiety almost unbearable most times.. had all the test and everything seems ''fine' ..so annoying ;p
The language of thought can be altered too, the body and the nervous system seems to respond with a stress response to "this is hell" "I'm terrified" "worst thing ever". I trained myself to "Not dangerous, go on". Works for me.
I naturally find myself saying ‘come on then’ when I have a fearful thought. It’s sort of a ‘come at me bro’ statement but less aggressive and almost welcoming.
When I'm freaking out I realise I'm taking myself and my stress responses way to seriously. Don't take your reactions so seriously accept them and laugh at yourself. It works for me lowers anxiety quite fast. Trauma is still in body but it's a better way of coping.
When I found Dan almost 2 yrs ago 1 thing i remember on a bad day, I still walked. He talks about walking being in nature. It really works. This is so timely...I had my first ever panic attack last night and I'm still shaken up by it. Thought I was doing so well, but my brain is putting me in my place I guess.
Please listen to Dan’s discussion about this. His words couldn’t be more accurate. It’s hard, very hard but you must push through and you can. I’m in the middle of my recovery and each day I focus on things to keep me busy and not react to symptoms. When I do react my husband reminds me to stop focusing on the symptoms.
I cannot talk much about pain ( although I do have migraines and tension headaches) because it is not the symptom that bothers me the most but I can talk about anxiety what many consider to be TMS as well. I was house bond agoraphobic and with help of dr.Claire Weekes book, I am now much, much better. She taught: utter, utter acceptance of symptoms (after getting knowledge of anxiety and what it can cause in the body), going limp as much as we can (she used the metaphore of violine string: If it's tighten, it will produce a sound. If it's loose, it will not. Same as or nerves.) and letting time pass (living out lives as best as we can and giving time to our nervous system to calm down). She also taught how can we recognize the thoughts that are productive and can lead to physical sensations. She said they begin with: Oh, my goodness! and What if...? So, you can see how this approach is similar, one can say - the same as we teach in TMS. It's because the origin of the problem is the same, it comes from our brain who is, for some reason, ramped up or as dr.Weekes said: sensitized, so it's sees danger where there is no one. My biggest problem is still dizziness and I know that it will be as long as I fear it, wanting it to go away, being angry because it is still here... Basically, I am always "scanning" for it, focusing on it. It's getting better with all the knowledge I have and all the experience. Stress amplifies it. I know that without utter acceptance or as you say: indifference, I can not expect it to just go away. I hope that day will come.
Daniella _ Claire Weekes practically cured me of severe anxiety 10 years ago through her book Complete Self Help for your Nerves, I read it over and over for two years straight. I still have the book but doesn’t get pulled out these days. She was a doctor well ahead of her time that’s for sure and a lot of her teachings are so similar to TMS recovery. Especially Acceptance.
Love Claire Weekes book Have you read Rock Steady by Joey Remeny.... she focuses on dizziness and tinnitus and healing from a neuroplasticity point of view, same as Dan and the mind/body approach All similar teaching , just said from a different person!!
Hi, Ben. Yes, I've read Joey's book and watched her videos. They are helpful but still struggle to not focus on what I don't want, but focus on what I want to feel. As I said, I still didn't fully accept dizziness and I know that is keeping it alive.
In my opinion, sometimes being blunt in a presentation like this one is just what is needed to break through to those just getting onboard this journey to recovery. I like the way you developed this topic. Caring yet firm.
Yes, the breathing when you are about to drift off to sleep (when you’re able to catch that moment from time to time) is madly magical. Sometimes my nervous system initiates this breathing type when I am awake but very relaxed. I notice it and I feel happiness and even more relaxation.
We keep circling back to the nervous system - the source of it all. Deceiving ourselves into thinking the "the cardboard bear" is actually real... if we allow it, this goes on over and over again. Per your suggestion, will remain aware of the stories my brain is telling (mental state), the feelings being experienced (emotional state) as well as the level of muscle tension (physical state). Thanks for your continued guidance, simple and practical approach. Great stuff Dan.
Bear in the woods is a cardboard cutout!! Love this Dan! One of the most helpful videos I’ve listened to! Love your practical, simple messages. So, so good!!
Another awesome video! You are one of the few people who "get it" and even if we were not all TMS warriors here, much of your wisdom is for anyone dealing with any stress. It's all general good advice. Needed this today as I'm close to getting off pain meds now, after 14+ years, and my brain is screaming No, we can't live without meds! Scary. But like you said, f*** it.
Brilliant vid, Dan. I keep coming back for more nuggets of wisdom, and this one is a real gem. I used to wish we had been given an operator's manual at birth to help us solve all our mysteries. And I think with help from you and others we have begun to crack the code. Thank you for that!
Thanks for this Dan, ive recently been suffering dizziness and the part you say about breathing makes sense.. Ive tried deep breathing and it made me worse so just breathing naturally makes me feel more relaxed.
I believe it's all perceived danger, not the actual virus that causes things. My fast start playlist explains what is going on and what to do about it. DansFastStart.com
Great advice...as always. Thinking of the comment about multiple symptoms...if you're so intent on defending the symptoms and justifying the pain, whose team are you really on? It's hard to shift perspective but it's really critical to see what you identify with.
Outstanding, clear summation of what we're doing. I had some real insights into subtle ways I am freaking out especially around anticipation of pain. At this point in recovery, that's my main deal. Thank you and love you, Beth M

What the heck this is a year old!? Why didnt this pop up on my yt feed then lmao! Thanks for the video, im dealing with pain and ME/cfs and this is what my nervous system needs. Yes and glad these older ones showed up, and can I shout DAN IS RIGHT! Even though I still have to constantly remind myself yet. And I have written down on a paper that I can see daily FEAR is FALSE EVIDENCE APPEARING REAL ala Dan❤ also I try to remind myself as my symptoms are very stress related ‘my choices today (or this moment) shape my tomorrow (or rest of this day). Reminding myself as been lot of stress and my throat is sore. Know did nothing different so yea TMS. Thanks Dan.
Thank you for the tools indifference acceptance know this a false alarm first thing is to calm myself don't freak out like I did this morning I know this is tms listened to this video 3 time now getting calm I realize that I have a long way to go yet but I Dan do this there us no way back... I’m way better because of indifference and moving. I will say I have flare ups sometimes and I’m working on understanding how I’m triggered and to have power over these triggers. Another great video . Thanks Dan
These concepts are VERY helpful! I'm dealing with many symptoms, and all the ones that are TMS-related can definitely be, and are being, helped by your approach. I very much appreciate your taking the time to care for your fellow humans! 🙂
My go to for this is elevating my feet above the heart. Lie on back and put feet up at the end of my couch with some pillows under them for 30-45 minutes. Gets the body to shift out of Fight or Flight so that it is much easier to calm down mentally. Listen to music or a relaxing podcast to help. Works every time.

This was very helpful, you have a calming voice and I like the cardboard cut out bear 🐻 in the woods example 👍 I have had pain in both knees for over a year and before that back and neck pain for years. So now I'm just gonna "Chill the F#*k out" and see if it helps. Last year when I had palpatations I cured it by writing that statement on my wrist in pen. So everytime I looked at my arm I was reminded to chill out. 😃
My symptoms come from 3 DIFFERENT PAINFUL CHRONIC AILMENTS, costochondritis inflammation in my chest and ribs and back, hernia inside my right side testicle and a swollen vein on my left testicle and I have hypertensive blood pressure. They have me on a wait-list for surgery on hernia and swollen vein and the costochondritis condition takes 18 to 24 months to heal. All this has lead up to Chronic Anxiety now after 11 months of having these ailments.
Trying to read through all the comments here, but seems like it’s not working. I have done what the example was in this video many times. I just get annoyed and say whatever and I start doing stuff, and that does work temporarily, but then it “wears off”. I hurt my foot a few days ago and triggered a lot of pain. I didn’t freak out, but the next day when I rolled on the foot that wasn’t really bothering me, a big zing of nerve pain went up my whole right side and now my whole nervous system has been nuts for three days. My digestive system is even messed up and buzzing and my stools are weird. I have pain everywhere and the only thing that calms it is to sit and do nothing for hours. I have stuff to do! As soon as I try to say whatever and do something minor, everything gets ramped up even more.
A deeper understanding of how the human system functions is required to be able to teach the brain to respond differently and give you different results. Watch the fast start playlist multiple times so the concepts sink in. That will give you a deeper understanding of what causes symptoms and what to do about it. Consistency is key. ua-cam.com/play/PLRJmnkn2kTTIl4frNvmpenr49xcTmVl2H.html
When it comes from the spine due to discs protruding or bulging, it can be a risk to lift a bit heavier or even to make some movements. Would it only be pain or a potential risk of serious problems such as nerve damage or paralysis? If someone has muscle pain then I understand your attitude much more. However, I know people who have herniated discs just sitting so doesn't that mean that it is easy to make these issues worse and to cause something that goes beyond the pain?
Most people over certain ages have bulges or herniations and quite a number have no pain. They are normal abnormalities. Nobody has a perfect spine. ua-cam.com/video/rT9b2qavcAo/v-deo.html The body is much more resilient than we believe.
What really confuses me is that I’ve been told to lean into frustration and not to suppress anger, but also that I need to be calming down and not getting caught in negative emotions. I feel like I’m being to told do two opposite things at the same time! It’s so stressful.
I feel you! I think for me is for example, commiting to a martial arts practice to release that energy, Is like gratitude practice to complain less... it has to be indirect. you dont decrease the bad but increase the good.
I know it seems contradictory. It's fine to feel negative emotions. But try not to ruminate and sit in those emotions all day long. ua-cam.com/video/58yzMcYyGjU/v-deo.html
Hello Dan! I love watching your videos bc i love the way yo speak, is very calm and relaxin typebeat. I just did the paintest on your ws and i got 41/50. I understand what you mean when you say "indifference", "not freaking out" or not dwelling on the symptoms. I had tendinitis on my wrist 2 years ago and since then the pain never went away not completely at least, based on my results form your test i want to start really deeply and honestly not freakin out about the pain, but I have the issue that since I lost my job I really dont have medical ensurance anymore and coldnt really go to the docs to check this pain out since the first time I got it, and due to my anxiety I always have that mental chatter of "yeah but what if is really something wrong, you cant know, yo cant check with the doctors anymore". I know that leting go of that particular fear would be a great start for my recovery. Any thoughs? And also, thanks a lot for youre videos and free educative content you make about this topics.
Thanks for your kind words. The general rule of thumb is to rule out anything catastrophic. Wrist pain is not lethal. Ruling IN this thing called TMS / Mindbody pain is the next step. Your result of 41 out of 50 is absolute proof that it's not a body problem. Your pain behaves like pain created in the brain. You can move forward confidently that you are on the right track. You have nothing to lose other than the pain itself. There is no downside to adopting my suggestions in this and my other videos.
So I just found you and I don’t know what TMS is guess I’ll Google it after I finish this comment but I have had CFS with some fibro for over 30 years and just learning finally about calming down the nervous system is the whole answer so I’m assuming your advice and your kind of work this is the only video I’ve ever ever seen of yours is going to apply to me as well????

But pain serves a huge function in letting us know that something is wrong and it needs to be fixed. Once it's fixed, the pain is gone or lessened, so shouldn't the focus be on way better diagnostics in figuring the root cause of the pain and addressing it from that level?

We have SEVERAL Trigeminal Neuralgia success stories. Scroll through the success archive and you will see them. PainFreeYouSuccess.com One of my clients also sent me this written success story. Enjoy. You ARE in the right place. ~My story began 6 years ago, I was 51 and going through probably what I'd say was the most stressful time of my entire life., working a very stressful job as well as extreme stress in my personal life. I was on a hamster wheel of stress that I couldn't get off of., I awoke one morning with a numb cheek feeling & a tingling type numbness in my teeth. ( the symptoms were only just getting started for what I was about to go through., the list includes extreme off the charts left side facial pain, burning facial skin, pain in my teeth and severe inner ear pain as well as a sensitivity to cold weather on my face which would cause my face to look & feel as though it were badly sunburned & very painful. I was diagnosed with the medical term Atypical Trigeminal Neuralgia. Medication did nothing to alleviate my pain & no specialist could help me., there was no cure. I refused to accept this diagnosis as a life sentence so I started searching the web which eventually took me to Dan's " Pain Free You fb page. I started watching his videos and received some personal coaching. My healing didn't happen over night and I admit I went back & forth in my believe as to whether this was TMS and that something so simple was going to cure my very rare condition known as TN. With nothing to lose and no other options as I was refusing the suggested brain surgery, I accepted that it was TMS and I committed 100% to Dan's approach to becoming pain free., #1 step for me was dropping the fear & focus on the pain. It's been 4 years now of living happily.. my pain free life! The biggest lesson learned I'd have to say was learning a new approach to dealing with life's stresses, listening to my body before it has to scream for my attention. Always & Forever grateful to Dan Buglio.

I HAVE HER BOOK HOPE AND HEALTH FOR YOUR NERVES. IS THIS YOURS
In my opinion, sometimes being blunt in a presentation like this one is just what is needed to break through to those just getting onboard this journey to recovery. I like the way you developed this topic. Caring yet firm.
Thanks Larry. I appreciate your feedback.
My Pleasure.
Great wording!
I love how Dan has finally had enough: "well yes I DO understand!" 😂 Love you Dan!
Haha - yep. :-)
The most useful video I saw in last 3 years of experiencing my pain! Amazing, thank you very much! :)
Glad you enjoyed it.
I'm doing my best to follow all this good advice YES I must be calm and smile and lower shoulders
Brilliant vid, Dan. I keep coming back for more nuggets of wisdom, and this one is a real gem. I used to wish we had been given an operator's manual at birth to help us solve all our mysteries. And I think with help from you and others we have begun to crack the code. Thank you for that!
Very happy to be a part of your journey.
bless your HEART im calming down just listening to you :))) SO true
Thanks for this Dan, ive recently been suffering dizziness and the part you say about breathing makes sense.. Ive tried deep breathing and it made me worse so just breathing naturally makes me feel more relaxed.
I got pots from covid I will teach brain to calm down 😢 it’s hard but thank you for the advice you saving life’s and mental health

Glad it was helpful Beth. Fear is the main culprit.
Aloha this exactly what I’ve been searching for trying to calm my nervous system. Thank you, thank you, thank you! My goal every day is to safeguard my heart & this helps. Mahalo
You are so welcome!
One of the best vids yet. No more freak out starting .....Now!
Thanks man!
I totally agree!
What the heck this is a year old!? Why didnt this pop up on my yt feed then lmao! Thanks for the video, im dealing with pain and ME/cfs and this is what my nervous system needs. I often go into a fear and stress response when i get random pain out of nowhere, but now im more aware if it happening. Takes lots of practice btw, but very helpful. Thanks for the knowledge you give us for free 🤩.
You are quite welcome.
I love this man. He is sooo right on!! 17:35
Love you Dan 😘😘😘
In short, messages of safety! 😊
Omg this is everything! 🙌🏼✨️ Perfectly said. Thank you SO much ♡

Yet another excellent video Dan! 😊 Thanks to your videos my indifference to my TMS is slowly increasing a little each day. Thanks for all you do! 🙏

I’m way better because of indifference and moving. I will say I have flare ups sometimes and I’m working on understanding how I’m triggered and to have power over these triggers. Another great video . Thanks Dan
Love that! Keep it up.
So very well and clearly explained, thanks a lot❣️🙏🏼
Excellent and much needed message! 😊
Glad it was helpful!
Yes very helpful...
These concepts are VERY helpful! I'm dealing with many symptoms, and all the ones that are TMS-related can definitely be, and are being, helped by your approach. I very much appreciate your taking the time to care for your fellow humans! 🙂
Thank you for this video and for every other video you provide. You are amazing 🙏❤️
I literally laughed out loud at your “nervous laugh” comment. 🤣
haha - glad to make you laugh.
Awesome - thanks for sharing your experience.

Great Video, Very Helpful, Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!

I always come back to you 😅❤
Welcome back.
Nobody has a perfect spine. ua-cam.com/video/rT9b2qavcAo/v-deo.html
The body is much more resilient than we believe.
Yes! Indifference is a great concept! ❤

Thank you greatly xx
Now that my other symptoms are going my old ones come back 😂 itching st night LOL
Thanku
So I just found you and I don’t know what TMS is guess I’ll Google it after I finish this comment but I have had CFS with some fibro for over 30 years and just learning finally about calming down the nervous system is the whole answer so I’m assuming your advice and your kind of work this is the only video I’ve ever ever seen of yours is going to apply to me as well????

Hi, I just discovered your channel and am laying in bed 2am here in Australia and the pain through my right arm, shoulder, back etc...is that severe, right arm especially that I feel like I'm full of cancer, I'm very scared. I have panic disorder, Agoraphobia and PTSD. How do I do push through such severe pain to retrain my brain? My daughter only has me so I have to get through this.. if anyone could please advise me id eternally appreciate it.
Rule out cancer so you can put that fear out of your head. Once you have ruled out life threatening issues, then rule IN the mindbody cause of pain. A good place to learn more and begin is: www.PainFreeYou.com/start
@@PainFreeYou Thank you so much Dan ❤️ I have been listening to your videos and it's calmed me a bit and taught me a lot, many lightbulb moments about what I've tolerated in my life that I shouldn't of with family, so much abuse so now my nervous system is shot and I'm getting these pain signals. I always said you can't have the emotional without the physical. On behalf of myself and everyone thank you for your work. I wish we could talk in person, I could really do with a long chat to you but hey a girls allowed to have dreams. Bless you 🙏 again...thank you!
But pain serves a huge function in letting us know that something is wrong and it needs to be fixed. Once it's fixed, the pain is gone or lessened, so shouldn't the focus be on way better diagnostics in figuring the root cause of the pain and addressing it from that level?
You are right. But often the root cause is not the body, but is instead the brain perceiving danger. My fast start playlist will give you a deeper understanding of the cause of pain and how the human system functions. Then I share ideas on how to teach the brain to turn off the pain which is a false alarm from a "perceived", not actual danger. DansFastStart.com
Can this cause you to feel so nauseous and sick to your stomach like you have an aching in your arms and legs and stomach? I was brain retraining and just had the flu and it caused the symptoms to go crazy!
I have type 2, bilateral trigeminal neuralgia. Hoping this can help me. Took the assessment and it sounds like it's possible.
We have SEVERAL Trigeminal Neuralgia success stories. Scroll through the success archive and you will see them. PainFreeYouSuccess.com
One of my clients also sent me this written success story. Enjoy. You ARE in the right place.
~My story began 6 years ago, I was 51 and going through probably what I'd say was the most stressful time of my entire life., working a very stressful job as well as extreme stress in my personal life. I was on a hamster wheel of stress that I couldn't get off of.,
I awoke one morning with a numb cheek feeling & a tingling type numbness in my teeth.
You are right about that. Advice. Just don't think sweet off good men. 🇬🇧🧙♀️😎
Dan, what do you recommend for POTS? Like when as soon as I'm up out of bed in the morning the tachycardia starts up.. I cannot even just get up to use the washroom let alone be awake enough to start 'freaking my brain out'..
@PainFreeYou Good day. I try to tell my mum before getting surgery on her knees that even if the xray shows bone to bone (and no cartilage in between) thats not the cause of the pain. Is this something sarno spoke about too? or should she just go ahead with the doctors orders. Thank you
I practiced EFT for many years, but one of the things that drove me crazy is their insistence That you have to Figure out all of these traumas from the millions of experiences over decades of living it seemed impossible And unnecessary.
My sister in law screams at her kids and grand kids all the time! God bless

Have you had anxiety Dan ? I can’t move on. 😥😥
It's not the anxiety that's the problem. It's the thinking that you cannot move on with anxiety that is the challenge. I have had anxiety, but not as bad as some.
The book DARE by Barry McDonagh can help. I like the audio book from Audible.com.
What about being off balance on and off driving me made I have sinus issues and poss ear wax but 😡

I am losing hope to maintain a calm nervous system because I get stressed out by work a lot. There’s always drama at work. How do I not let it trigger my symptoms? Sometimes I feel like I am still symptomatic even though I am indifferent to my symptoms because I am still so stressed and anxious all the time.
Watch this video again and begin to implement. The belief that stress MUST create symptoms is false. You can teach your brain through these methods NOT to turn on symptoms when stressed.
