    The toxic support groups made me so much worse, I would be so upset after seeing what people were telling each other. “It never improves etc” that I left the group and no longer do any research on symptoms

    You are so right about not googling symptoms and not joining support groups! Made both these mistakes big time and just got more terrified and hopeless and confused. However I do find talking to someone I trust when I'm having a bad day really helps - otherwise I agree that talking endlessly about your symptoms is not helpful.

    After 2 years and playing whack a mole with pelvic floor dysfunction and all the symptoms i have had from/constipation/urinary problems/sex problems/digestion problems/heart burn/ soreness/ fatigue etc etc. it all started when i lost my job. Then my mom got pancreatic cancer. This is a year after I lost my dad to lou gehrigs. The I got testicular cancer all at the same time. Since then i have tried everything. I think these events triggered all of this. Crazy stuff. Thank you

      You've been through a lot and your suspicions about emotions causing a shock in the body is very similar to Germanic new medicine. It goes on to say that once the conflict shock is resolved, the body does it's job to rid the shock, e.g. fever, skin eruptions, bodily fluids, even tumors. I think TMS aligns very well with GNM.😊

    Dr Sarnos presentation is mind blowing!. I listen to the full 2 hrs 2 days ago and yesterday,
    I did exactly what he explains to do whenever we start to feel symptoms , and unbelievably my symptoms went away within an hour (left neck, shoulder and shoulder blade pain that have come and went for about 15 yrs) then pain in my right wrist for an hour appeared later in the day(the first time I ever had that) then the sore throat that I get almost every day or evening whenever I'm tired.
    I ignored them all and kept going about whatever I was doing and forced a smile on my face and spoke out loud, and told my brain that I am safe and not in any danger and reassured myself that I am a healthy strong person.
    It's crazy! Wish I had learned about Dr. Sarno and Dan's group years ago.

    i confess that when i get up off the couch, or stand in the kitchen, i 'check' the level of pain, tho i must say it's getting better.... and even though 'checking' to see how bad the pain is usually CAUSES the pain, i then respond with as much indifference as i can, and it seems to be helping over all.... and hopefully soon i will just forget to check xoxoxoxoxoxoxox

      @@rrosie1968 The fact that a TMS approach hasn't helped YET doesn't mean it won't. It took me 13 years to get it dialed in properly. My daily videos map out the concepts and beliefs. And here is my take on Digestive Issues.
      ua-cam.com/video/6za2iTB8Dcs/v-deo.html
      Basically, stress (fear) suppresses both the digestive and immune systems. Stressing out about a stress caused issue is like pouring gasoline on the fire and wondering why it won't go out. Calm is the way forward so your system can return to optimal balance.

    I remind myself...Lorimer Moseley says "No brain, no pain."🤣 yes....ALL pain comes from the brain's assessment of danger and the level of protection needed to keep me safe. No one's pain comes from their knee or elbow. That is nociception ...the brain determines the level of pain. TMS just means my pain threshold has gone down and my nervous system is more sensitized. I'm really ok.

      The research he presents, in such an entertaining way, is so compelling. I really hope the medical industrial complex gets an update soon and stops using the Cartesian model to try to address persistent pain. Modern medicine is astonishing for treating disease, traumatic injury, fractures, cancers....but persistent pain has not been an area they have mastered....witness the opiode epidemic and the excess of unnecessary surgeries and interventions.

      Yes, I have heard of that and heard some success stories. When in the stress response (fight or flight) our digestive and immune systems are suppressed. Doing what you can to calm the system down and get out of the stress response will allow the body to return to balance. A TMS approach can help you do just that.

      I can't remember what episode it was but on Nichole Sachs podcast, she mentioned a lady who had problems with her eyes watering loads and her eyes would crust shut overnight. It went away when she did the mind body work. The brain is the control centre of the entire body, so I wouldn't be surprised by pretty much any symptom being TMS (just always rule out more serious things first).

    Thank you so much, Dan. A friend recommended me to your channel and I've already had so many epiphanies about my chronic pain. I was considering seeking a geneticist to get formally diagnosed with EDS (ehlers danlos syndrome) and this video helped me decide against that, as yet another uncurable medical label will just be viewed as another physical limitation in my mind. I'm also thinking of not seeing my chiropractor every two weeks, and will decrease to once per month or so. One thing I have a hard time with is shortness of breath that comes from anxiety/fixating on the breath. At the beginning of your video when you ask everyone to take a few deep breaths, that instantly triggered shortness of breath because my brain believed I wasn't breathing " well enough." I think doing a video on this topic could be really helpful for folks like myself that struggle with anxiety/OCD! Much love!

      Perceived Danger Pain - the cause of our pain:

      If that is true (it is), then teaching the brain you are safe is the solution.

    Where I live, there is no TMS knowledge. I have neck-shoulder pain, dizziness, headaches (and a lot of anxiety+symptoms). I have osteoarthritis, disk problems. So doctors here just tell me: Do some streching, physical therapy... Some of the medical personnel in physical therapy throws the labels: it is not curable, it will get worse and worse... And then I struggle believing 100% Your test indicates TMS, I am that type of personality, but I cannot find the medical doctor to give me the clear diagnosis... What am I to do?

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  2 роки тому +2

      Make a self diagnosis. You don't need a medical doctor to tell you that it's TMS. Pain from TMS behaves a certain way. The pain test indicates your symptoms behave like TMS and not from a disease or structural problems. You have TMS. Begin the process of teaching your brain that your body is okay. I have a question. Is it possible with this to get chronic inflammation and muscle spasms in the area of an old injury due to signals ? Is that the brain still believing you are injured and trying to heal it or is it because you are in fact not healed or nerve damage? How do you know the difference ?

      Yes, the brain can create pain, spasms and inflammation if it perceives injury. Lorimer Mosley - a pain scientist from Australia noted that people can experience pain and inflammation by just imagining movement.

Even if it's about changing the relationship to the sensation to a more neutral observing and curious one, isn't it at the same time pure focus? Or is neutral awareness not feeding the sensations?

      Repressed emotions fit into my understanding of perceived danger. Repressed emotions that are getting close to consciousness are perceived as dangerous so the brain fears them and creates the pain to distract you from the emotions. Are there guidelines where you can find out whether the pain is structural or neuroplastic? I was diagnosed with levator ani syndrome and oddly enough I was very relieved at first. But since I’ve been trying to treat it as TMS, I question it sometimes. My pain is always in the same place. But during most of the month it isn’t really a big deal at all and I can ignore it and it doesn’t cause fear at all. However right around the time I ovulate, it flares up. Although one month it was nonexistent and there are times when it’s very mild and sometimes it’s really bad. And those are the times I do have fear and I have trouble with it. I don’t talk about it at all. I handle it perfectly fine until I ovulate and the big pain comes on. What am I able to do then? Thanks!

    • @PainFreeYou
      @PainFreeYou  2 роки тому

      Sounds like the level of pain is based on the fear and attention given to it. Sounds like TMS to me. There are assessments here: www.PainFreeYou.com/start
      The best thing you can do is know that less fear, less freakout will mean less pain. You've proven that already. You already have an effective strategy. Do that consistently. Don't expect the pain. You can and will get well.
