Great intro! I think it's really helpful for ppl who play on lower diff to see the thought process in founding the cap. I do agree with the decision, but you could argue that having the cap on a river would bring +25% production for things like a garden, water mill, or hydro plant. Anyway, I really enjoy this discussion so I hope you don't mind me leaving a comment like this on an old vid :)
@PC J Law , GG, i love watching ur games and the way u are thinking about things. I only wonder if u could still win if spawned on the main continent? As i always get rushed. Were u lucky? I hope u see this, u made my day better!!
He is close to other civs in 90% of the games so he would be fine. You can be peaceful with most civs for a long time, and if you are next to a aggressive civ you usually can pay them off to war another civ and have them focus on that for most of the game. In fact in most games you can go without war until ~turn 170 when the idolegies push civs over the edge.
I honestly would’ve settled just one city to the north of your cap on top of the deer. The extra fish in range kinda makes up for it. I’m not super far into the stream tho so idk if it worked out. I also would’ve gone for Sinai as a 1st expand and killed Riga. Could’ve been doable with ballistas potentially.
Nice vid. Can you do darius? Just to see where our paths diverge? I'd appreciate it greatly. I normally play pangaea, legendary start, quick combat, quick movement, no time limit. I win around turn 250...again, I'm bad lol. The biggest difference I am seeing in your other games. Is I make a legit push for masolium early...I need gold. Not doing that, I am able to push out an extra settler or building or two. My win/loss record is highly dependant on the gold from that wonder.
Hi! I can try Persia for sure, we'll try to give them a go sometime soon I'm intrigued by the Mausoleum play, it can definitely be done well in certain situations, but going for a non-growth wonder early can really kill your start if not done in the right way! I rarely build Mausoleum so perhaps you could squeeze in an early market instead and concentrate on getting internal food trade routes and expands up? We'll get to it when I play as Persia!
@@PCJLaw yes, very slow 3rd city for me, for sure. Scout, monument, settler, worker, masolium. If I get it, gold isn't an issue until midgame, so I can explode without that constraint. Shrugs. It's only way I know to win. 😂 Idk, see if you think it's stupid lol Or maybe you'll do something I don't and things will work better
@@markhurley3714 Hmm okay interesting build order. I would have said Mausoleum is not worth delaying those settles for since it really hurts your science. Better to go Scout, Monument, Settler, Settler, Worker, Granary before Mausoleum if you're going 3 cities. Typically, only a growth wonder or Petra is worth delaying settlers to get. Otherwise, you slow yourself down to grab a wonder, but the wonder doesn't give you any help in catching up after I definitely think I'm going to play a Persia game soon though - I've had a few requests to do a Persia super-long Golden Ages game!
@@PCJLaw the delay you speak of might be why I can't win early. Shrugs, without it and an early 3rd city, I find myself always broke. I can't buy tiles. I can't upgrade units. And I certainly can't become ally with city states. Anyways these are my problems on deity. Why I can't figure out this difficulty. All the stuff I normally do on lower difficulties, I just can't on deity
@@markhurley3714 Hmm there might be something we can do about these Buying tiles: you should save for a select 3-4 tiles only. This gold comes from meeting CS and your GPT. Typically pre-NC cities shouldn't need to buy many tiles, except to make sure you get your luxuries online. A good way to combat this is to try not to settle too many 3rd ring luxuries, it can really slow your game down if you run out of gold CS Allies: You don't actually need many, especially early. I use my Rennaisance spy to get a Cultural ally, and often it's the only ally I have all game Typically you don't need to do AI spy steals, which is why I normally pop the spy in a cultural CS instead. Usually gets me that ally by T110-T120 on quick speed
ROMAN UI #2: WE [the city] teach you HOW to this building; now you go out and build many others, ELSEWHERE !! {And get rich pocketing the differences !}
What tech you were aiming for when finishing Oxford University? What if you bulb your scientist to get labs tech faster, is it a mistake? I’ve recently finished emperor domination game on turn 200, but didn’t get to stealth bombers. Your science output is impressive. It’s good to see some civ 5 play through, I think civ 5 is more difficult on deity than civ 6. Civ 5 is ageing very well.

You're a stronger man than me. I would've definitely taken Riga

By letting the Aztecs kill your units you delay Egypt's culture victory by increasing the Aztec's culture.

What is that UI? Looks so sweet
ROMAN UI: Any building is ALLREADY FINISHED in Rome, that is copied in OTHER ROMAN CITIES, is cheaper to build by 20-25% !!
