As you noted, most of the "cold openings" are episode 1 of a season. In this case, it was probably done so the "Hound is alive!" reveal was before the opening credits, as seeing Rory's name in the credits would have spoiled the surprise.
I'm always shocked when I see people don't realise what Jaime is doing and they think "he's bad again". Jaime tried to negotiate with Edmure. But all Edmure saw in Jaime was a monster so Jaime uses the fear Edmure had in him to scare him and made up a bunch of bullshit(mixed with truth) so he would do what he wanted. And that worked! He took the castle without loss of life(except the Black Fish).
@@Jose-Lozanchez She really was the only one of Tywin's children who wanted to follow in his footsteps. Being unable to "choose violence" was one of several things obstructing that ambition -- now, finally, she's finding solutions to that problem.
The faceless man never needed Arys help to escape. It was always part of a plan to get her to come train and to give her the ability to help in the fight that against evil. That’s what the little nod is about when Arya tells Jaquen that she is going home.
There's a big fan theory that Jaquen/No One was originally among the prisoners going to the wall because the faceless men were hired to kill Ned Stark, who was probably intended to be among those going to the Wall with Yoren. When that plan got monkey-wrenched by Joffrey, he used his presence to take on a "Plan B", as he probably recognized Arya from his research on the Ned assignment.
You’ve timed this reactions perfectly, the musical score for the final two episodes of this season need to be studied and taught in music schools forever. Wishing you all the happiest holidays 🎄🐺🦁🐾🍷
Hi ladies! I cant tell you how much your uploads have meant to me and for my mental health over the past few months ❤ It's been a rough year and you and GOT have made it bearable. Happy Holidays ⛄ from a big fan in Sri Lanka
Happy to have finally caught up & especially Lindsey looking well in her recovery journey. My (formerly feral) cat was very happy late last night as he got treats thanks to be me being 'Odined' for the first time watching the previous episode to this!
@@MugShotzReacts He's made me look so many times but this was the first time he caught me! It was maybe 3am & the semi feral cat (called Donkers) I woke up absolutely loved the attention & treats. I'm sure he'd say thank you to Odin if he wasn't so territorial. Just tell Odin he did good from me lol
To say that I’m excited for the next 2 episodes is a MASSIVE understatement. I really can’t wait to see your faces! Wishing y’all a happy holidays from Athens, Georgia!
I actually _do_ like Jamie in that scene. He knows exactly what he's doing and exactly why he's doing it. He's speaking to Edmure completely honestly and openly, not pompously, not condescendingly, not self-righteously, not even exactly threateningly. He's really ground down to his core, and it's a good time to bring back "the things we do for love". When he said it the first time, it was almost a flippant joke. This time, you really feel like he means it seriously. In the sense of "this is why I'm doing the thing", but also in the sorta exhausted and exasperated tone. He's not doing this for fun, and he's not having fun. He maybe doesn't even really want to do it at all. But he will, because that's what he's decided he has to. For love. It's all well and good for us to sit out here and say his love is wrong, but... ... or maybe it's not. Why do we get to judge?
It's also very challenging for me to find much sympathy for Edmure, and rather easy to enjoy watching him be bullied and slapped down, regardless of how or why.
So, for this episode, a writer did an interview saying how they wanted the Hound's return to be more impactful without seeing his name in the opening credits. I feel that is kind of how the majority of cold opens come to be, as it plays to the impact of the show (episodes or start) or movie! Less spoilers.
The Septon, I think, was the primary 'Broken Man' as the character he's loosely based off of from the books (who is never named beyond "the Abbot") is the one to tell the story of the Broken Men - and he was mostly talking about his own experiences.
I think I'm addicted. We woke up and did presents this morning before going out of state and after I was like ..ooo now I can go watch mugshotz.. then I get more excited knowing maybe for Christmas and new year we get the 2 best EPS ever!!!

Wow! First comment!! That makes me unreasonably happy!!! I don't know if there is any reason to cold opened other than what the writers would like to do, but I'm not a scholar of the show. Just a massive fan!
I love how we're heading into an episode 9 and their thoughts are about who is going into come in and save the day in the upcoming battle. 5 seasons of terrible episode 9s haven't ruined their optimism! Of course I know how it plays out now, but going in originally I was on the total opposite side assuming it's about to go terribly wrong for everyone I love
@Steph, did you ever show Ashley/Lindsay any of the TV posters/art for any of the seasons? For those of us that had to wait a year (or 2) between seasons it was the only thing we had and it would let our minds run wild with speculation, especially with the later seasons when we would see characters sitting on the Iron Throne or captions like "All Men Must Die" or "Winter Is Here" or "War Is Coming"
Arya Stark survived the fatal stabbing because the Gods were not done with her yet. The Faceless Man did what he was supposed to do from the beginning. He allowed himself to be captured by the Nights Watch so he could meet Arya. Then he lured Arya into wanting faceless training for her tasks ahead. This included blind fight training. Killing the Waif was a part of Arya's tasks because the Waif was a failure as a Faceless man. The Waif enjoyed killing for personal reasons which made her a failure. When Arya declared herself as Arya, the Faceless Man knew he succeeded in his task. He even smiled as Arya left for Westeros. Arya with a sword was no match for him. He could have easily stopped Arya, and even kill her if that was his intent. Jamie Lannister was able to "convince" Lord Edmure Tully to surrender the castle while minimizing the death count for both sides. The Blackfish wanted to die at home, so he became the only casualty.
You are talking nonsense. 1. She survived the fatal stabbing because of plot armor. Nobody survives being stabbed three times right in the gut, then not getting medical assistance for a half hour. 2. Why would the nights watch, i.e. Yoren, one guy, randomly "capture" Jaqen? That is not what the Nights Watch does. They cannot just go and capture people. He was obviously a prisoner somewhere and they turned him over to Yoren. 3. How did he "lure Arya". He offered it to her. NOthing more. 4. "this included blind fight training"....🤣🤣🤣🤣 She was only blinded because she broke the rules. 5. Arya beat the waif because she was smarter and learned to fight in the dark, no other reason. 6. The waif enjoyed killing for personal reasons and that is what made her a failure? So wouldn't that make Arya a failure too? All her killing was enjoyable and for personal reasons, i.e. vengeance. She enjoyed killing, she smiled whenever she killed someone from her list.... ******SPOILERS ****** Frey soldier who cut off Grey Wind's head and put it on Robb's body Polliver Rorge The Waif Ser Meryn Trant Walder Rivers Lothar Frey Walder Frey 40 Frey's - Poisoned by Arya Stark.
