- Please join me on a captivating journey through the picturesque village of Alnmouth, nestled along the stunning Northumberland coast.
Starting at the historic train station on the east coast mainline, we embark on a leisurely stroll through the charming streets, admiring the iconic Lovaine Terrace with its pastel-painted houses reminiscent of Tobermory.
As we wander through the village, we explore the quaint harbour, home to the smallest museum in the UK dedicated to the Ferrymen of old. Our adventure continues as we visit the local pubs, including a delightful stop at The Sun Inn for Pie & Peas.
The highlight of our excursion is a bracing walk along the famous sandy beaches, where the waves and the fresh sea breeze create a bracing atmosphere.

What a cool looking wee place and so accessible from Edinburgh/East Lothian. Especially loved the wee museum and the food, every time mate you make me hungry just watching these videos!
Thanks Steve. The wee museum is just so precious.🍺
Now I want some chips and gravy. Poke!
Can’t beat Chips & Gravy in a tray! Or curry sauce! 🍟
Hi Roger, thanks for your Alnmouth vlog. That's great that your trains were on time. Sometimes I've experienced delays at Alnmouth going up to Edinburgh. Technically, the station is in Hipsburn, also a pity there's a bit of a walk into Alnmouth, but the village and scenery make up for that! Last time I was in Alnmouth, had lunch at The Red Lion. You'll get a good meal wherever you go! The tea room in the main street is also great. Being so near Alnwick is handy as well. Will definitely check out Alnmouth in the better weather, along with neighbouring Warkworth and Amble. You've also got Berwick, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Craster, Lindisfarne etc, in that scenic NE corner of Northumberland! The beaches looked good and Alnmouth itself is in a stunning location. Quite a few pubs as well! It's a shame that there's no train link between Alnmouth and Alnwick, and need a taxi or bus to get between the two! The weather could've been better for you, but glad you enjoyed your day. Nice one as always, Roger. 😊 👍
Thanks Alan. It was a great wee visit. Shame the skies were grey but it still made for an enjoyable day out.
I've been wondering about doing a day trip to Alnmouth as TPE has cheap fares. It's quite interesting to see a video just on Alnmouth itself as there plenty of other places like Amble and Warkworth nearby you can get the bus to. I've been to Alnwick quite a few times and visited Barter books etc though. When I was doing a working holiday for a week at Cragside in 2013 we did a day trip to Alnwick and also went to Seahouses further up the coast. If I went to Alnmouth with TPE I'd have about 6 hours so would have to plan it carefully.
Thanks so much! There’s definitely a lot to see around there. I did think about getting a bus to Alnwick but didn’t really have time to do it justice. 😔
One of my favourite places. Thank you.
My pleasure, Donald. Really enjoyed my visit and would love to go back on a sunny summer's day. 😀
It's worth a summer visit. That whole coast is delightful and my favourite area to wander in. Bamburgh and Beadnell beaches are well worth the visit. Blyth too.
Another great video Roger! That railtour was a class 57 on a tour called 'Thunderbirds are go'. A friend of mine was at Alnmouth videoing it, as you were there at the time as well
Oh I love that, “Thunderbirds are Go!” 😀 I did see a couple of guys with cameras at the time. They obviously knew it was coming whereas for me it was a great surprise!
Alnmouth is great! It's been on my list of places to go soon. Great video! As well those seat covers on TPE are being replaced soon I was reading they are going for an easier to clean design so fingers crossed they also go for comfort! 🤞
Will definitely return to Alnmouth in the summer. Interesting about TPE. Just new seat covers not new seats? Hopefully a proper moquette rather than cloth! 😀
@@RogEdwardsTV Something like the ScotRail moquette would be nice but a TPE version..
@@danielbaroy 👍Yes!
Hi Roger.... I've been quite a few times to Alnmouth... Did you know that you would of passed by the Monks home on the hill to your left...... they along with the Monks of holy island produce Lindisfarn meed .... an alcohol drink made with bees honey.
I also went to the sun Inn and its outstanding for its meals.
There is a little tea shop along the way if you fancy something lighter.
Richard Turnbull in Newcastle upon Tyne 😀
Oh, I would love a Doom Bar amber ale right now 😊
@londaltrond gosh there's an old one from the past..... Newcastle Amber ale..... as old as our ship yards ehh 😆
It's a very tasty and very fruity beer! 😀
😀
Thanks for watching, Richard. Shame I missed the Monks! 😂
Thanks Roger for exploring a little visited part of Northumberland. As somebody else has noted it's a pity you never made mention of Alnwick, its famous castle and the White Swan hotel. I believe years ago there was a branch line linking Alnmouth to Alnwick.
Thanks Alex - I just didn’t have time to go to Alnwick as well - so the castle and the White Swan is a future trip on the list. The was a branch line to Alnwick and what was Alnwick Station is now a fabulous bookshop! 😀
@@RogEdwardsTV I suspected as much Roger. In any case Alnwick would be too far to walk. Looking forward to when you find time to feature both the town and that famous (in relation to Alnwick) hotel.
where your youtube video this saturday rog edwards tv?
Quite a few places, Harvey. 😉
Sorry to be picked great video but it's prounced Alan mouth 😂
My only defense is I pronounced it like the announcements on the train! 😊
😀
