    I have found that texture atlas has never been updated to understand Iray terms for textures. It will not create any textures that in the dual lobe, top coat, translucency, or sss settings. Basically most of the textures!
    The names in the check boxes are quite literally what it wants.
    So I will sometimes apply the Daz default shader to a figure, and drop the textures into places that texture atlas knows.
    Otherwise, you will need to run texture atlas over several times to get all the textures you need. That can get tricky if you accidently do the atlas differently than you did on the others. You have to make sure you set up the atlas the same way each time you run a new set.

    This tool looks awesome! Thank-you for the info! I'm developing a 3d game in unity and was wondering if three was any other golden tips like this one for exporting characters. One of the characters I exported hair was 3 million polygons, lol, so that's how I came here.

      Look into Map Transfer and Texture Atlas, those tools can help bring multiple texture maps onto a single UDIM tile. This can improve performance in game engines.

      @@Daz_3D Nice! The only thing missing I think is an easier way to do LODs. Check out how blender exports LODs to Unity - It's clunky to represent the same thing in Daz. Morphs, visemes (mouth shapes for voice), decimation, bones, Map transfer look pretty good. I found myself buying genesis 0-3 hair because it's waaaay over poly. Thanks again for the tutorial if I get time I'll make one myself.

    Thanks for this. I don't see texture atlas if I right click on surface tab

      Try Window - Workspace - Update and Merge Menus. This will refresh shortcuts that may have been added to Daz Studio over the years. It's recommended to do after every update. Hope this helps!

    Is it possible to decimate the character after you import it to blender?

      @Daz_3D  Рік тому +1

      Yes, Blender has its own decimation modifier. However, it'll be tricky to decimate say the character separate from the clothing unless you export them individually. The Daz Decimator lets you apply decimation to every item in your scene separately before export.

    Hi Jay. I'm trying so hard to export an obj of a dressed character in order to use it in Spline, the result is always a transparent obj any idea on how I should export it?

      @Daz_3D  Рік тому

      Transparent is unusual indeed. I'm not familiar with Spline, but I'd try to load the model either into Blender or back into Daz Studio and see if you get geometry data (the size of your export file will give a clue of there's any vertex data as well). If you can't see the textures, make sure to enable Write Surfaces on export. Under Maps, you can either reference the original texture, or choose collect to save them next to your OBJ file.

      Check in unity the transparent slider is set to no transparency.
