All the topics you covered will help a lot with my future ship builds. This is exactly the type of video I was looking for since I purchased the game. Thank you!!
hi thank for this tuto. if i may... you should use angle beams (T shaped etc...) to keep homogeneous distances between beams. it is more complex at the begining for the frame but after it will be easier to place the ducts I think.
What's the biggest ship you can build? I'm guessing that blue box is too small for a 1:1 scale Star Destroyer. (not to mention the bolt/structural limits imposed by the game).
@@cyborgbadger1015 sounds like something youd want to make with capital ships. that being said I don't know much about them at all like if there really is even much customization you can do with them once they release.
I have my thrusters piped and wired along with named. Main thrusters to go forward won’t work but all my maneuvering thrusters work just fine. Any tips? If it helps the main fuel generator is red instead of green when I go to test fly.
the bar being red means that the fuel is being used, You need to make sure that the thrusters are properly aligned by using the U key in test flight mode
@@flamesyue thanks for the reply! I used the U key while in test flight and I am not seeing anything related to “aligned” I do see the numbers changing on the left side of the UI so it is connected to the system….

54:36 Just a thought, correct me if i'm wrong. I was just thinking about the Radiator VS Cooling cells and it made almost no sense to use Cooling cells but then it struck me. The radiator has to be installed on the outside of the ship right ? So if that's the case, it makes it a lot harder to protect it in a fight. The cooling cells can be installed inside the ship, behind armor plating so it would be much harder to damage it in a fight. I'm thinking that COULD be the reason why there are two different options. I also guess someone could add both cooling solutions to a ship, just in case they run out of cooling cells but then would have to be more careful NOT to run into a fight.
Precisely my thinking - use radiators as cheaper and more reliable (for a long flight) option but have backup in case these are damaged during a fight. Yet if the cells are used also when having a radiators it's not a good solution. Unless we have a way co control a flow of the cooling systems and could switch / control how heavily these are used with YOLOL? Maybe, as a last resort could have two systems of generators and switch to backup when the other one is unable to cool?
wow thats alot to take in, I bought a ship but I felt theres nothing to beat building my own, Im quietly confident I can throw something together. Thanks for showing all your mistakes, its easier to understand how things work when you see how they dont work! only thing I didnt get is the duct but ill figure it out.
For some reason my ship occasionally decides to pitch up and turn left with my box thrusters and that results in my ship not flying straight. Any ideas on how to fix this?
Apparently it was being caused by a single thruster that was connected to the power but was disconnected from the pipes at some point. Anyways it's fixed now.
Not that i have found, but under the build budget option it tells you your max mass, you can also apply virtual mass to it as if it were full to affect the warp class, then get the class up above 1 with the virtual mass and then you should be good
Generators T1 make 1000 energy per second, thrusters consume 210 (box thrusters) and something like 120 for triangle thrusters, maneuvering thrusters consume 40 per second. Each generator makes 100 heat and if they are adjacent to one another that gets tripled (something like that). You can find these info by googling Starbase (part name here) and it will come up with official website and information about the parts performance
Thank you this helped out a lot. 1 question can we edit the starter ship and will that be a way to get around the current easy build bug that won't allow modules to be placed after the 1st time?
I believe they fixed the ship designer bug so yes you should be able to, however if you get a 2nd laborer by doing tutorial again it should work in easy build.
Hey buddy another tip for rotating : you can just press the z x or y key to have it rotate 90 degree angles, much easier than trying to rotate with the mouse and quicker than the tool

Maybe its a stupid question but do I need to buy/unlock something to design my ship this way or I can just enter this mode as new player, design my ship enterily then get the resources to build it? I just completed the tutorial
only stupid question is the one you didn’t ask my friend! You can enter this mode at any time you please after the tutorial you design the ship turn it into a blueprint then collect the resources to assemble it.
Its crazy I have built 3 ships now, none of them I could get flying. Watched your video, and I didn't know about the FCU having arrows on it and having to face forward.
It is slightly difficult at first, sorry if i made it look difficult, it definitely can be due to some issues and learning curve, but for building small ships its quite easy!
Maybe it would make it easier, however, I enjoy that level of depth to the game, it adds so much more realism to actually BUILDING a ship not just throwing pieces together.
@@flamesyue No I agree with you on that subject, but the game is early alpha and with so many things to fix, I think it may be "delayed" until other things are fixed.
