    A note or two , it generally helps if you work on a table and away from grass because springs and jets and small parts aren't easy to find if dropped ...

    Fantastic video - thanks so much! You saved me a trip to the repair place. I knew nothing about how to fix mowers till I saw this clip. Turns out I had flooded the engine from always keeping the fuel tap on (my bad). I followed the instructions and am now up and running again.

    Life saver video Nev. Me Victa wouldn't start- likely fuel left on :(. Followed your fuel checks, muffler removal cylinder checks, spark checks and then you rich-fuel mix air hose removal tip and she started like a charm mate! Many thanks because your video probably saved me $125 mower shop service. Video is excellent, thorough and step by step for the novice. Really appreciate you taking the time to make it.

    They don't sell the 2 stroke mowers now. Just the other day we went to buy a new 2 stroke Victor and were told that because of new rules regarding emissions they no longer sold them and the shop where we went said that they were the LAST shop in Australia to sell them and had sold the last one a few weeks ago. However, since watching your video, I feel confident that I can repair what is a fuel leak with confidence. I purchased this one 17 years ago and had no trouble with it The only other problem was regarding the pull string which had jammed. The trouble there was found simply by cleaning the grass from the jammed cutting blade, therefore another of your things to look at more closely (especially after using on WET grass) is to CLEAN the blades regularly. Thanks mate for the video. I could not bear to use a 4 stroke on my steep lawn ( I was told that 4 strokes cut out on inclines). Stay safe mate.

    Excellent video for 2 stroke mower. The only thing I can add is how important it is to mix oil and fuel to the correct ratio and if 2 stroke is hard to start take off head and clean carbon of cylinder head and piston. Victa 2 strokes if correct maintenance is followed will last 20 years or more.

    Great video, i was recently given 2 of these, the big motor on the large mower is a goer, but i will have to put it onto another deck, as it looks like a huge weight was dropped on it, wheels are all pointing different directions, all the self propelled drive is missing, even the drive axle is gone, very strange, but good motor. I learnt a lot for a short time in this video. Appreciate it. When you reveal the piston (after taking the muffler off), you can hear a click in response to the forward & backward travel of the piston. Is that a wear indicator that means there's too much clearance in the piston holding pin? I just got one & that sound is quite noticeable when i turn the blade back & forth. Was putting me off bothering to get it going.

    I picked one up yesterday off the footpath (Kerbside Collection). I fixed a few things on it and it now runs but it smoking a lot. While I only just found this vid, I did do all the steps here except check the piston for scoring. The fuel is OK as it is what I use on my existing 2 stroke and it does not smoke. I also cleaned the fuel lines and tank before putting petrol in. Any ideas why this is smoking? I might try and do a basic vid myself to show it.
    Great vid - awesome mower and great troubleshooting!

    • @alantaylor6691
      @alantaylor6691 3 роки тому

      I don't know much about mechanics, but I have heard that if there is too much oil in the fuel-oil mixture, it may smoke. Check that you are using the correct amount of oil in the fuel, and also make sure it's 2-stroke oil specifically. 4-stroke engines take a different oil. Also when putting the 2-stroke oil in the petrol, shake vigorously so it's properly mixed in.

    Hi mate, I have a victa master it series 460 looks a lot like that minus the box. I’ve had a nightmare and it’s stopping me working. I put a new piston and ring, because the ring was goosed and barrel piston scored, barrel ok, head gasket as it was missing? Still used for years not knowing it was missing, new o ring and float kit, new plug and still wonder start, I took the carb off and cleaned it all, now it pulls easily without pulling the throttle bar and when I pull the throttle bar the back pressure almost pulls my hand of pulling the cord instantly back into the engine. Any ideas. Thanks you

    Is your Victa 2-Stroke flooding and still leaking fuel even after changing the plastic needle and other parts? I have found someone developing and selling this Victa metal type needle with rubber cone tip that works with all aftermarket, OEM and genuine Victa primer cap. On eBay search for Victa Metal Type Needle. Direct replacement with yellow and black plastic needle.

    • @Thetrucky69
      @Thetrucky69 6 років тому +1

      Thecarbymaster thanks I will look metal float needles up on eBay. I have many VICTAS and when the float needle wears down, the float goes up too far and can NO longer push the float needle up to stop excess fuel from entering the float chamber like it's been designed to which results in the float chamber then over filling with fuel. With the correct size float needle the float should be horizontal from the correct amount of fuel in the float chamber.

      If the fuel has been in the tank for a while in storage, the petrol part of the fuel mix evaporates, leaving a higher proportion of oil in the fuel.
